The staff is wonderful but they need a self-service kiosk for package drop-off. This is a high touch post office will a large population of older and analog users. These photos are typical of work day, mid-day.

I went into the post office here yesterday to sort out a mistake the PGE Home Perks representative made when filing a change of address request to USPS. The manager yesterday gaslighted me and yelled at me about how I need to check the browser address for security and accuracy when I never even stated that I used the internet during the transaction that started the whole issue that brought me into the post office. I am highly knowledgeable in tech security and find it extremely SEXIST that because I present as a woman he thought it was appropriate to mansplain and hold authority over how I browse the internet. FFS. This all started bc PGE is trash and created a program in contract with all these service companies to try to sell their products to select PGE customers. The Post Office manager said I was being scammed and that HomePerks does not exist and I need to report this to the post master authority. I was not scammed PGE doesnt train their staff to push their products ethically. IF HomePerks does not exist then wtf is this?: https://www.pge.com/en_US/residential/customer-service/home-services/homeconnection/homeconnection.page Bottom line f*** your sexist male employee(s) (if there is more than just your manager) and DONT ever gaslight your customers, learn how to have healthy communication. That is simple human decency. I get that we are all stressed out esp. staff at USPS but that is no excuse to be an asshole towards other human beings that are probably struggling just as much as you are.

Don't know his name but I enjoy standing in line and just observing his snarky-ness!

Needless to say, it's important, and the ordeal involved us running to the consulate a couple of times to get those papers notarized. To ensure the papers arrive ASAP, I paid for the more expensive shipping option ($75). USPS lost the mail. Somehow it got sent to Bosnia. Crazy, right? The mail literally went in the opposite direction. Worse yet, since it's been returned to the US, it's treated as an import item so it's been stuck in NY customs for the past MONTH. It's been 1.5 MONTHS since I mailed it out, and it's still stuck in customs ON ITS WAY BACK TO ME. During this time, we actually went back to the consulate and re-notarized the exact same docs. Sending it out this time with Fedex or DHL. I went to the Bayview USPS at 1300 Evans, and they were actually a bit more helpful. They looked at the receipt and said the West Portal office missed some things I was supposed to fill out. For example, I needed to put a dollar value, even if it's $1. Also, I can't just write "documents" in the item description - it needed to be a lot more specific (what the docs are, how many pages, etc). The 1300 Evans office explained that it was on the agent to double check and make sure I filled out the forms correctly. Yeah, no one here did that. I'm not sure if I can trust USPS again. I've been hearing from people about their own horror stories with USPS. Someone's package got sent to SF, then went to Oakland and San Jose, before coming back to SF again... it literally went on a joyride around the Bay Area! But if I MUST use USPS again, I'd probably go to the 1300 Evans branch - they're bigger and way more knowledgeable.

I'm sure everyone in the area was glad to see it reopen but the old staff are all gone. The new dude who seems to work alone at the counter is the rudest, grump who has ever worked there. There used to be a grumpy woman over 30 yrs ago and I was so glad when she retired. This office doesn't carry any 4 cents or lower denomination stamps that I can use with older stamps to add up to the current 78 cents first class fee. You go in and ask a question and he's lecturing you. Doesn't greet you back after you say "good morning " and doesn't thank you. Why is he even in the front office dealing with customers? They need to screen and hire nice people.

I pack my shipments like I'm shipping a priceless Faberge egg. Of course, I followed tracking only to see on Sunday December 14th the package was headed for the San Francisco Distribution Center with scheduled delivery on Tuesday, December 16th. What?? Calling 1-800 was of no help whatsoever! I was told I would have to wait until Tuesday to ascertain what was going on. Are you fricking kidding me!? This morning December 16th, I was left on hold for 32 minutes waiting for a live agent to explain this snafu ('situation normal all effed up') usps shipping experience. I finally hung and called 800-USPS right back. AI kept on attempting to divert me but I kept yelling 'agent'. Don't think for one second they didn't know I was pissed! Finally, i get an agent who unapologetically stated the package WAS PUT ON THE WRONG TRUCK! You have got to be joking! How many times was this package scanned over the last 5 days?? How was this not caught? How many brain cells are at work at the USPS to have this happen? I have just viewed the tracking number again AND THERE IS NO UPDATE REGARDING THIS SHIPMENT! Maybe the postal carrier/truck has to actually deliver the package to my address for this to be rectified? USPS should not RECEIVE ONE DIME for their lack of service with this shipment! Never again - I'll ship Fedex Ground before entrusting a pricey - fragile package with the USPS. AS OF DECEMBER 18TH, TRACKING FOR THIS PACKAGE HAS SIMPLY DISAPPEARED! There is absolutely NO REFERENCE TO THIS PACKAGE. Where do large heavily insured (up to sales price) packages go? You can be they're not sitting on a shelf... UPDATE: Shipped out on Dec. 11 @ 12noon from San Francisco and arrived in Minneapolis on Dec. 20th - 9 days later... 'left hand clearly does not have a clue what the right hand is doing', i.e., "points to internal dysfunction, like departments working at cross-purposes". After this experience, my trust in USPS shipping is ZERO.

With that said, their epic fail is sadly due to the poor customer service & lazy workers. I came here with an eBay package that already had postage. I went in line anyway to make sure I get a receipt to prove they got my package because I doubted their capability to properly store my package; that they won't lose it. I also wanted to make sure that the weight was ok as packing stuff might cause weight to go over the original scaled. Therefore, instead of just dropping the package, I decided to wait in their long hideous line. About a 45 mins later...a woman checks my package and prints me a receipt. She had it on the scale & said "it's ok". I doubled checked and said "everything is ok?" She said "yes you can go."... While she points to the door to exit. Days later package is delivered, I get an EXTRA CHARGE during Xmas for an additional $4-5 bucks saying that my package was overweight. What the F***? Is she highly challenged, incompetent or what??!! What's the point of her being there when she can't even do a simple task. Did she just stand there & daze...blatantly starring at the scale while in front of her my stamp says one weight, & the scale says another?? Why didn't she tell me then?? What the....F. What's the point of her putting my package on the scale??? What's the point of me wasting 45 mins in line paying for the parking meter for this?? How pathetic. The only reason I gave 2 stars is one good experience ...long time ago...with another worker that helped me double check my passport documentation for mailing before I sealed the envelope. Very nice fellow. I remember forever. Maybe that person already retired tho.

I wonder what will happen to post offices in general. We still receive correspondence written by hand by human beings. My wife's family has instilled in every generation the importance of writing thank you notes. The ratio, however, of junk mail to personal letters/postcards must be 100:1. And we would be among those outliers likely receiving more genuine material intended for us as individuals. I happen to like visiting the post office as well, like libraries. They are civic institutions. The efficiency here is about average; the line moves along. But the friendliness of the staff is exceptional. I see various reviewers have commented on the clerk named Darcy. She is chatty in the best sense -- USPS hires many employees ("there's always work at the post office"), and they ought to be encouraged either to look for other prospects like her or train them. The others also are cheery. I have a post office I rely on where I live most of the time, and the folks there are, to be honest, not engaged at best and sullen at worst.

Boxes usually sit in distribution center in S.F. for 2 or 3 days without moving regardless of what day they are posted on. Expensive, clearly addressed packages sent via priority mail to Silver City, New Mexico, 2 states away, are being routinely routed to Indianapolis, Indiana, where they sit for a minimum of 3 days. Customers cannot call or text or message postal personnel anymore, they are just sent around in circles and referred to endless, useless on-line articles. Problems are not acknowledged or documented or resolved. So nothing changes. Ground Advantage boxes take l.5 to 2 weeks to arrive in Silver City, NM, and most have been misrouted to Colorado, Alburquerque, and other locations, or made to go through 3 or 4 locations in Texas despite having legible, printed address labels. Talking to employees at the local P.O. doesn't help, even when they are presented with the receipts/postal slips from which they can see the tracking problems. If anything customers are handed a slip of paper listing postal contact phone numbers and internet links that nobody answers or whose links don't work. Customers have been totally locked out. And problems cannot be reported to postal inspectors, the links don't work and the site isn't currently being manned allegedly due to government shutdown. Customers have to just wait for several weeks to see if the packages get delivered. I just posted a priority mail box that cost almost $26.00 and was supposed to have arrived Saturday, 10/25/25 - but didn't because as with others it was misrouted and is sitting half-way across the country. So priority boxes that should arrive in 4 or 5 days are taking 8 days or more to arrive at destinations just two states away! Bottom line: Customers are being routinely ripped off and mislead and shut out by the postal service. USPS cannot fix problems they don't acknowledge!
