Stopped in here before heading on to Tselogs for lunch. As the other reviews mentioned, this post office does not look to good. It's defintiely seen better days. All I needed was to mail a birthday card so it suited my needs just fine. It's A-Ok in my book because the card reached its destination in good time.

This post office is pretty beat up. Luckily, every time I've gone in to pick up a package, there was no one inside. But definitely understaffed. Also annoyed with the fact that they never leave packages for me at my home and make me pick them up. Today will be the fourth time in the last two months.

This post office is pretty beat up looking - serious weeds growing up in side walk cracks around the mailboxes. The inside is filthy with lots of trash of the floors and the place is in desperate need of a paint job. That said, what I like about this post office is there is never more than one person in line - I'm able to get in and get out in less than 5min!

I experienced a noticeable difference in the level of service here during my last round of shipment…read moredrop-offs on Sunday, August 10. Can-do, helpful attitudes, that was quick and efficient. I needed to purchase some packaging tape to finish off a few packages and the employee gladly took care of it for me without having to buy a new roll, open it up, finish packing it, etc. I was in and out within 5 minutes for my 8 packages which isn't the kind of efficiency I am used to. I leave off one star for now as I'm aware this could have been an isolated incident. Most of the time it's painfully slow and unhelpful service... Hopefully there is positive change being implemented at this location!

Because the email was incorrect, I wasn't notified that packages had arrived - they just sat in the back for several months until the employee who finally corrected my email thought to check. I'd just paid for another 6 months for the box when I discovered the packages (and that my box had been incorrectly blocked off yet again), and the manager did not respond to repeated requests for a refund or acknowledge my request for mail forwarding when I moved my mailbox elsewhere. I will never set foot in this store again for any reason - all told I spent several hundred dollars for some of the worst service I've had from any business.

Needless to say, it's important, and the ordeal involved us running to the consulate a couple of times to get those papers notarized. To ensure the papers arrive ASAP, I paid for the more expensive shipping option ($75). USPS lost the mail. Somehow it got sent to Bosnia. Crazy, right? The mail literally went in the opposite direction. Worse yet, since it's been returned to the US, it's treated as an import item so it's been stuck in NY customs for the past MONTH. It's been 1.5 MONTHS since I mailed it out, and it's still stuck in customs ON ITS WAY BACK TO ME. During this time, we actually went back to the consulate and re-notarized the exact same docs. Sending it out this time with Fedex or DHL. I went to the Bayview USPS at 1300 Evans, and they were actually a bit more helpful. They looked at the receipt and said the West Portal office missed some things I was supposed to fill out. For example, I needed to put a dollar value, even if it's $1. Also, I can't just write "documents" in the item description - it needed to be a lot more specific (what the docs are, how many pages, etc). The 1300 Evans office explained that it was on the agent to double check and make sure I filled out the forms correctly. Yeah, no one here did that. I'm not sure if I can trust USPS again. I've been hearing from people about their own horror stories with USPS. Someone's package got sent to SF, then went to Oakland and San Jose, before coming back to SF again... it literally went on a joyride around the Bay Area! But if I MUST use USPS again, I'd probably go to the 1300 Evans branch - they're bigger and way more knowledgeable.

I'm sure everyone in the area was glad to see it reopen but the old staff are all gone. The new dude who seems to work alone at the counter is the rudest, grump who has ever worked there. There used to be a grumpy woman over 30 yrs ago and I was so glad when she retired. This office doesn't carry any 4 cents or lower denomination stamps that I can use with older stamps to add up to the current 78 cents first class fee. You go in and ask a question and he's lecturing you. Doesn't greet you back after you say "good morning " and doesn't thank you. Why is he even in the front office dealing with customers? They need to screen and hire nice people.

Eric truly went above and beyond. His help saved me a lot of time and hassle--I avoided having the package sent out, returned to me, and then reshipped to the recipient. I'm very grateful for his outstanding customer service. Thank you so much, Eric!
