To my pleasant surprise during my trip to this post office today, there is a lady Cindy, who was so nice and pleasant to work with although I had more than 20 boxes to be mailed. She deserves 5 Stars!! My past experience at this location had been horrible for the rude service I received, but Cindy changed it all! However, I can it as the same for her colleague, an asian woman who is loud and intimidating to her guests for not having change for their payment and I even heard her laughing at a guest for asking a question on whether an item they were selling includes postage it not. I hope there will be more Cindys at this location. read more

The WORST post office location in SF. I've never had a single issue sending anything priority. When I need to be extra sure it'll make it to its location I add signature confirmation. Somehow the priority box I sent from this location never even made it to the SF Distribution Center. I wonder if it even made it in the truck from the post office. What an absolute joke. So now I get to spend my time hunting for answers, refunding a buyer, and awaiting a refund (haha) from USPS which won't come for months IF it's approved. UPDATE: USPS confirmed packed is lost. Now I had a package marked insufficient address. The address was correct, and I now have to pay for a redelivery because I either had a lazy postal worker or One that can't read. Sending a legit package back to sender is theft, that amount should of been refunded. I can't wait to you go out of business. read more

This place is hell on earth. I hope you like waiting for 20 minutes while the woman in the front takes her time processing PO boxes and anything else as slowly as possible. When click-n-ship is down and I have to come here I feel a sense of dread that can ruin my day. I couldn't pay for an online stamp and buying it at the post office would have cost me over 5 dollars more. I don't trust buying stamps there anymore and I feel they are scamming you. Go online. Another issue I had was trying to buy the dungeons and dragons stamps. For some reason the SAME WOMAN kept telling me they didn't have chinese new year stamps. Best service ever! They have the sweetest and most efficient workers here, super kind, informative, and quick. Arrived around 4:45pm on a Monday, and there was no line at all. I was dropping off prepaid packages with a QR code using old boxes and the nice lady complimented the act of recycling and also pointed out the boxes that they sell if I ever needed. I always have a QR code so my transaction usually take 10 -15 seconds but there is always just one staff member and a long ass line so it takes forever and in line, you will hear loud sighs, guaranteed, by everyone who is waiting. My past experiences with customer service here have been mediocre, but today was especially disappointing. The worker who assisted me, Eleanor, was rude. I placed my package on the counter, and she abruptly told me to "turn it in over there." When I asked for a receipt, she said I should have stated that instead of just putting the package on the counter. worst post office ever. i had a package being held hostage at this station with zero help from the staff whatsoever. first time i went to pick up they told me it was not there when the tracking number is telling me it's at the 94116 taraval station. when i showed it to her all she could say was "that's weird" with no explanation of where my package is or why they don't have it even though their system is saying they do. left with no package and a huge waste of time. second time i went to pick up a few days later the woman was so slow and had to check multiple times in the back. then she finally brings it out just to say "i found it right away you should have told me it's on hold." just avoid this location if you can it will just leave you frustrated and stressed read more

Everytime I go to this USPS, I dread getting served by Eleanor. She is always so rude. When you ask Eleanor a question, she sighs and gives short answers that don't even really answer your question, so when you try to get clarification, she really glares at you like you are dumb. Update 7/31/2025: My lost package is still lost. However, the USPS tracking shows that the package has settled in the USPS sorting facility in New Jersey. This is after the package had made two round trips between the east and west coasts. I had emailed 'customer service' and a USPS rep. was assigned my case. She said she'd try to alert personnel about retrieving the package and have it rerouted correctly to my address. This was two months ago. I got no follow up and contacted the same agent as it was via email. What she said is to warn any potential USPS customer. She said that unfortunately my package is lost full stop. And, no, there is no recourse for the customer UNLESS the customer paid for insurance. As I did not pay for insurance I'm out of luck. So my package is somewhere at the USPS facility in New Jersey and no one is bothering to even look for it. Thankfully this package was not something extremely important, but just the thought that USPS absolves itself from any liability unless the customer has the package insured is thoroughly infuriating and unfair considering this entire problem was the fault of my local mail carrier. read more

Last time I came here and the attendant was extremely helpful. Saw my daughter's passport application and retook the photos to make sure they would be accepted. This time I come in to get my passport photo done and the attendant, a different woman, tells me they have never done passport photos here and tried to shoo me away to some place 6 miles away. These people are criminals and the whole post office needs to be investigated ASAP. I have recieved notifications for 3 checks from EDD for my paternity leave and none of them have been delivered. My mailbox is secure and I check it every 2 hours when I recieve these notifications. Every other piece of mail is delivered but my paid paternity leave checks keep mysteriously disappering. I have spoken with numerous employees at the location and they all claim that my route has a different postal employee servicing it each day and that they do not keep track of which mail person does which route on a given day. They claim that since they don't keep track of who delivers on my route each day that there is no way to know who was supposed to deliver the checks so it's impossible for them to determine who failed to deliver my checks. Simply put; they are covering for each other as they steal checks from the people they are supposed to deliver to. The first time I went in, they told me to wait a week to to file an official complaint. After a week, I came in, and they told me to keep waiting and insisted that there was nothing they could do about it. Frusterated, I called the Postal Inspector at 1 (877) 876-2455 and opened an investigation. I immediatly got a call from Christian Acosta, who claims to be the manager of this location. He gave me the same nonsense run-around explanation that his employees gave me; there is no way to track the mail delivery and that there is nothing I can do but wait for the check to arrive. After grilling Christian Acosta over the phone, he finally decided to email me the phone number for the "Postal Police"; the phone number he gave me was for an auto insurance company. I now have to call the Postal Inspector again to file another complaint against this postal location and against Christian Acosta for providing me false/misleading information; I also have to call EDD to put out a fraud alert. read more

Worst attitude from workers ever. Had a postage return label on my package. Woman at the counter say "this is cheating, the postage is for 14oz, your package is 2lbs" No where on label says 14oz. She goes on to say, somebody has to pay.. either you pay or the company pay. I will have your package return to you. I look and see the note on the label that says to not refuse package and that postage will be paid upon scan. I tell her this.. she say.. "ok, if they don't pay.. we will throw your package away".. Really.. WTF.. is this type of service.. seriously disgruntled postal employee.. next day, my package is back at my door step.. obviously she put it in the return to sender pile.. went to Lakeshore USPS and all is fine. Used this Post Office consistently for 4 years before and did not have a package go missing in the PO Box. I moved down to Los Angeles for a few months and internal mail theft from USPS employees is rampant here. Be grateful for the workers here even though the service is not the best sometimes. Convenient location. No parking lot. On the small side for a post office. Biggest issue are the customers. For example, the two people in front of me took a little over 10 minutes to process. I took about 1 minute. Why? One of them paid for things by check. And when they added more services (e.g. signature service), they asked for the price several times ($2.75), then wrote a separate check as they kept adding items. Another didn't seem to understand how mail works, which is not a good sign. Most people in line were zoned out, on their phones, etc. so things weren't efficient (didn't realize that there was an available clerk, didn't have their paperwork or ID, etc.), and little time losses compounded and added up. read more

Oh god I never do bad reviews but omg this place deserves it. The lady that helped me (clerk 3 according to my receipt) went off on me. I waited in line and when it was my turn, I handed her my package and I told her I wanted to drop this off. She stared at me and then said ok you're done. I was sort of confused because typically I would get a receipt. I asked her "can I get a receipt please?" And she snapped and said "you said drop off (ok which is true), not receipt. Next time you have to say you want a receipt how would I know what you want?" I told her that typically the workers would scan the barcode and give me the receipt. She got even more mad and told me to not to tell her what to do, which I wasn't. I was simply explaining why I'm a bit confused that she didn't give me a receipt. Anyways she continued to go off on me and she was an elder and tbh I didn't want to disrespect her and talk back but let's be honest, why would I stand in line to drop off? I could've drop off at the drop off box. I obvs wanted a receipt. I ended up saying sorry I was just confused. I'm not here to cause a scene. Do you prefer to be screamed at, or given misinformation? That's your only choice at the Taraval USPS. I have been screamed at several times by one of the front desk workers here. The other one doesn't know the shipping options. When you are told a price, I suggest you look it up on your phone to confirm. I tried to send a small envelope to the UK and was told it would be $40, and that there were no other options. I asked her to double check for slower and cheaper options. Well, when we go to a post office, we don't have much to expect other than a long line that you share with all those "neighbors" we never seem to talk to. I'll be honest, sometimes, this branch is no different with the long lines, but I've found that the postal clerks manning the counters are very friendly and quite affable. If you know when to come here (middle of the afternoon in the middle of the week), you can zoom right in and get your needs addressed right away. Also, this branch is open until 6pm M-F, which seems a bit later than the other branches. Works for me. read more

The wait times definitely suck and I feel like this Post Office could use the self-service machine, but the staff here are fantastic and willing to go the extra mile to resolve an issue. Had a Priority Mail delivery that showed as delivered but never received it. Inquired and the manager reached out to the carrier who said they probably misdelivered it and will attempt to retrieve the package. Drive back home and the carrier shows up with package in tow. This place is hit or miss, but when they miss it's terrible. I had one package to drop off and then wanted a late package scanned to see if they had any more information on what was holding it up (I had received 4 packaged in the time this one was late), and the woman at the counter with fake red hair acted like she didn't understand and then took twice as long to scream at me about it than she did actually typing in the tracking number. This is a dangerous intersection because of the post office. So many people are running the intersections in hopes to get into and out of the office quickly. The office is never opened late and until recently had 2 people at the counter at any time. This location sells customer P.O. Box information. Started receiving SPAM at the box in our names even before we shared the address with anyone. And my printed letters and packages are still going to my neighbors, WTH. I been coming here for the past 5 years. It was a joy to come to this particular post office because of the 2 Burmese ladies that worked here. I went today and asked where they were since they had 2 new staff at the front helping customers. Found out they were gone. My favorite ladies were gone. They were the best thing that had ever happened to the Post Office and I'm no joking. You know how awful everyone's experience always is at the Post Office right? Long lines, terrible service, condensing tone, inaccurate information, etc etc blah blah. It's a hellhole. However--this particular location was different. I knew for a fact my mail would get delivered. I knew with very high confidence things would get done right, all because of the 2 Burmese ladies that were working the front counter. Now that's gone. They retired or moved on. It's sadness. This world is going down and not coming back. Good people are smart and I guess smart people quit early and often and move on to better things in life. They got their pension all set up, 20 years of service and I'm outta here! Why deal with the Covid world we're living in now when you can relax on the beach and chill with money coming in every month? Exactly. That's why nothing is forever. Always remember that. I'm disappointed they're gone, I'm questioning my life now. It's that bad. I live in the neighborhood of Parkside Station. They are the worst. They park their vehicles all over the place and often park illegally on the corners and block the handicap ramp. Complained many times to their office in Washington but they do nothing. These useless Government employees have no respect for the neighborhood. read more

The clerks are nice and fairly fast. I've been to other post offices with mean or slow clerks, especially a horrible woman at the Clayton St. post office. However, all the clerks here are nice to customers (and each other - you can tell that they get along) and efficient too. One of them even complimented my wrapping job. I do take pride in my packages - how sweet of her to notice. The lines usually aren't too bad during the day but they can be long on Saturdays. The building isn't that attractive and it doesn't have an electronic postal station where you can weigh packages and buy the postage on the spot (too bad - I love the automated postal centers). They have a stamp machine but no scale. They accept passport applications and they offer instant passport pictures. If you pay with a credit card and the amount is under $25, no signature is required. It shouldn't be too hard to find parking in the area. The clerks are Chinese and speak Mandarin to each other. The people in line and the mail carriers are mostly Chinese too. read more

Everything is relative. I've had consistently terrible service at the Embarcadero Post Office (not here): rude, surly postal workers who throw your stuff around and don't lift a finger or their fat ass to get out of the chair to help, curt, one-word answers, verbal abuse if (God forbid) you don't have the right paperwork filled out, and long waits, even during slow times because the employees are busy talking to each other about when their lunch break is going to happen. Only if you're a masochist, or if you work in the area, would you be one of the unfortunate soul standing in line only to get a helpful serving of verbal abuse there. Working in Downtown meant that the Embarcadero Post Office is now the comparison post office to all other post offices in my world. So in comparison: Parkside is a post office. So you'll get the long wait, because these guys are understaffed (it's worse when there are Chinese speakers in line and there are no Chinese speaking clerks... you live in America, at least attempt to learn some English, people) and you'll get the crazy prices, because the company has no money, what else are they going to do? We as a nation didn't want to end Saturday service, so this is the price we have to pay. You want cheap? Send an e-card. And you're not going to get five-star, four-fork, five-diamond, gold-star service here that you might be used to well... everywhere else. To expect it from a post office... boggles my mind. But I can still send a 5# bag of rice to an FPO for way cheaper than UPS or FedExpensive and get tracking on the thing. That's no small feat. The clerks don't always smile and this is the Parkside Post office so speaking Chinese helps with that, but every time I go there they're helpful. They give me options. When I fill the wrong paperwork out they're helpful about which I need to fill out and why. And they even, on TWO separate occasions, offered me a cheaper ship method. The failing of a smaller post office is that when you DO pick up a package, well, I basically had to wait for my carrier to come back with it (I'd recommend waiting til the day after the date listed on the notice, or ask the carrier to re-deliver), but my package arrived safe and sound, albeit with a longer wait than I expected. Send mail, receive mail. Post office does it's job. I've gone in to send out packages, as well as buy money orders to send to people I've bought things from on Ebay (yeah so what?). I've also missed package deliveries and gone in with my signed slip to retrieve them. Always easy as can be. Sometimes you get in there and their might be a person or two in line in front of you but, normally, I'm in and out of there in under 10 minutes. Be careful with parking, there isn't much of it. And don't be a douche and double park out on Taraval, That just isn't cool and messes up the whole flow of the intersection, affecting the lives of those around you. So don't do it. read more
