One really has to wonder what grossly incompetent nincompoop DEI clown circus runs this station! For almost 20 years my friend is the holder of POBox 411621 at the USPS office 1600 Bryant St. in San Francisco 94141. Over the years he has maintained the aforementioned and also updated and submitted at the post office account information i.e. mailbox name holders. Such as adding is DBA business name and adding from an offering from USPS office the street address. All done while filling out and submitting the required forms at the post office. This worked for almost 2 decades. He always received mail addressed with either name, some even without his name and when mail mailed to someone got returned for whatever reason, he received it back in his POB. I don't know what DEI imbeciles USPS employs now, but some cretin all of a sudden decided that any mail addressed other than with his first & last name, even if PO Box and street address and ZIP Code is correct, will be returned to the sender as "insufficient address, attempted delivery not known" sticker! This is a particular insinuation considering that he received mail were just the PO Box and ZIP Code was on the envelope. Also mail returned to him, were his return address on envelope contained minimal information i.e. PO Box and ZIP Code, came back correctly. (image attached) This USPS idiocy has cost him in a time of economic distress to lose a new client, have his reputation damaged and lose the desperately needed $15,000 - $20,000 of a project assignment/contract. I went with him to the post office on March 10, 2026 after he had gotten the envelopes from the sender with the USPS return sticker on to complain about this. (image attached) Asking for the stationmaster/postmaster at the post office he got stupid smiles and the lamest of lame excuses and denials. Mostly none reactions that such individual does not exist. As excuse they pulled out his original registration card from back 2007 for the POBox. When he then asked what about the updates that he made and forms submitted over the years, all he got was silent dumb looks. He showed them some actual returned mail envelopes he got back over the years (image attached) which at the same short nameless address clearly proving that the post office has the address on file, as it is the same [valid] address on the envelope. Otherwise he would have not gotten the mail (envelopes) back! He got a shoulder shrugging blank stare with excuses, lame explanations or no-answers. Since this year suddenly mail to his POB got returned by the by these post office jerks as non-deliverable!!! Yellow sticker: Return to sender "attempted - not known". Pretty smooth experience at 10:30am on a Thursday. A couple people in line ahead of me. Two desks with a postal worker working at each one. Only waited about 3-4 min in line before I was helped. Needed to mail out some heavier envelopes so they helped me determine how many of the correct stamps I needed. Empty counter space available so I could apply the stamps without being in the way. Didn't have to wait in line again and was able to just pass over the envelopes once I finished stamping. read more

Convenient post office look in your parking period find that that's pretty hard to get in the city. But there's a shopping center right across the street that you can park at to utilize this post office and there's also metered street parking. This post office offers most of the services you would find it in the other post office. Just know that when you go you may be waiting in line for a bit. It's just slow. But isn't that what snail mail is anyway? I have always found the workers to be helpful regardless of how long it takes. One thing I didn't like is that if you use the self service machine for stamps, you can't trade them in. So what you get is what you get. Just keep that in mind because there's not different stamp designs you can choose if you using the self service machine. Is usually only one type of stamp. On the other hand, it is faster to use the self service machine if you were looking to Get stamps or mail something quick. read more

Please avoid this post office if you can! We came on a Wednesday around 4PM and there were maybe 5 people in line. There were two people working but as we got there, the other person left, thus there was only one person working now. As we wait, the line was getting longer and longer. The worker was helpful and nice on our end! We got what we needed done which was to ship out a package. However as we finished up, it was half an hour wait of us getting there and finishing up. The line was now easily 20-30 people long. For some reason the other person never came back to help so they might be short staffed. I would drive a little further to go to the one on Brannan which I have at most waited 10 minutes. Much less people there than this location. read more

Our carrier doesn't show up to work so they do our route on overtime, but we are a business located in an office building which closes at 5:30pm. So the carrier can't get in. The obvious solution is to do the residential routes on overtime, at least every other day. But they refuse to do that so we haven't had any mail for a week and the supervisors have no intention of delivering it. My advice is to get a PO Box at another station. I have been "dealing" with USPS, Bryant Street over a missing package. They claim that it was initially delivered to another address--this this point I have no issues. Mistakes can happen. Here begins the problem: I received a USPS tracking confirmation documenting "correct" delivery to my home for a LATER date. When it was STILL missing, I contacted the vendor and all my neighbors just in case. Two days later, the package WAS delivered--but with a FedEx tracking number and by FedEx. I have been in contact with Bryant Street in hopes of understanding what happened. I e-mailed the "service" representative the TWO tracking documentations, a picture of the delivered box, and my narrative. They are "polite"--excepting that they do not return calls, and there is NO voicemail. Either the customer-service representative AND her supervisor do not understand or, maybe, they cannot understand. This experience amounts to total frustration and a completely unacceptable level of service. read more

Horrible service. Rude officer at this location. Today I just needed to drop off a package, already had a pre-paid label and everything. I just needed to drop off and ask for the package receipt. After I was sent to 2 different counters; the first one said to go to the second down the hall (weird, but what do I know, I'll do what I was told), the second counter said the machine broke. So went back to the first main office counter. I was first in line, went to the first available female officer there, explained about the other counter that couldn't print receipt. The lady scolded at me, 'next time wait for the me to say I'm ready, there was a line of people waiting, you have to wait for everyone in line.' (Clerk #40, FYI) Lady! I was first in line. These people in line just came after me! Are you serious? What is so hard about printing a receipt that I dropped off a package? Is it because I didn't have to buy the postage from you? You can't get the money directly from me? I'm trying to figure out why I got yelled at and what I did wrong. Plus if it was up to me, there would be no next time. There seems to always be an issue at this location. I had a Christmas gift delivered to this post office and the lady with the short haircut and glasses told me it was actually shipped to UPS, for me to walk there and UPS print me out proof that my package is at this USPS location. I walk back to USPS for the lady to check the back and tell me to come back tomorrow because it is currently being scanned in the system. I come back the following day (today) for me to be told "my package is not here and the lady only told me it was being scanned because she didn't want to have to deal with it." Hearing that pissed me off, if she doesn't want to "deal with it" or do her job right, why is she employed, to not do her job. It doesn't make sense to have people working just to say they're employed, because from the other reviews as well it look like y'all need to hire new staff, people who actually do their job correctly. read more

Hopefully someone at the USPS sees this, I'm so tired of coming into this post office and dealing with the woman at the counter who's name is Eleanor. I come here on a weekly basis to ship out envelopes and every time I come she is so rude to me and asks like I'm some sort of idiot. I have never had so many problems with the mail as I have since moving to San Francisco. I could go on for days about the horrors but my latest complaint is this: I put a hold on my mail and instructed that at the end of the hold, the mail be delivered to me. Yesterday my hold ended but instead of mail I received a notice in my mailbox saying "Sorry we missed you." There was no other information except that whatever it was, it was to be picked up at the 1600 Bryant Street post office. Normally, when they can't leave a package I must collect it from the Castro office which is fine. Just a hop, skip, and a jump from my apartment. Bryant Street on the other hand is not and not having a car makes it damn near impossible for me to get there during the week because hey guess what I work when the post office is open. I have tried repeatedly to call the station directly and nobody ever picks up the phone. I spent 1:40 on hold for the national line yesterday and spoke with a very empathetic agent who understood my frustration and sent a message with delivery instructions. Today I received a small package, but none of the mail that was held for a month. I tried calling the station, again it rings and rings and then disconnects. Ordinarily I would cut them some slack, this being the holiday season and all but sadly this is their level of service year round. Terrible, awful, horrendous and just plain lousy service. A US Postal Facility adjacent to Attic Self Storage? Nice! It is even better knowing that there is a United States Post Office facility across the street from Potrero Center. Overall, this is one of your typical USPS facility with dropboxes in front of the building, indoor lobby drop box area as well as service counter windows. Convenience for those who work in offices nearby or just running postal errands. Consumers can simply make a pit stop here before heading into the Mall Plaza across the street. A U-Haul Moving & Storage Facility down the street from here (odd-numbered side of Bryant St). Sports Basement nearby and Costco Wholesale is within a distance from here. This area (Potrero Center) is somewhat similar to Lakeshore Plaza except the post office is not inside the mall plaza. Nearby Public Transportation: 27 Bryant, 22 Fillmore, 33 Stanyan, 9 San Bruno and 9L San Bruno Limited Parking: Street Parking 11/12/2014: The lady at the 2-window counter for the package and letter drop is very friendly. It wasn't super busy when I came in earlier today so I'll definitely be back. One end with the two retail service window counters are designated for package and letter drop off along with postage stamp purchasing. The other end with the one retail service counter is for package pick up. There is an indoor lobby drop box and an Automated Postal Center (Self Service Kiosk) available here. I mailed a gift card from this post office, and made sure to insure it (fortunately). 3 weeks later, the gift card never arrived. I call the gift card's store, and apparently the gift card was used 3 days after I "mailed" it. I work across the street and today I had to mail something in a priority envelope. I wasn't the usual cranky bitch I am, even though I had to wait 20 minutes in line. Honestly, I didn't mind because I understand - it's the post office. But to the bitch that didn't help me today (Let's call her Post Office Bitch but POB for short) - what the hell crawled up your ass and died? I stood in line for 20 minutes and I already had the priority envelope filled out with return and sender info. I get to the front and you say "did you buy the stamp yet?" HOLD UP. Every other post office i've gone to to ship priority, I just fill out the priority envelope and give it to them and pay. No muss, no fuss. I guess they usually just put the stamp on for me after I pay and leave. Anyway, I told her no, and gave her my money. She handed me my stamp and told me to put it on. Seeing as how on priority envelopes, the return and sender info is on the BACK as opposed to the FRONT of normal info, I wasn't quite sure if I should put the stamp on the back or the front. Naturally, I asked. Me: "Hi i'm sorry, i'm a bit unsure of where to put this stamp. Can you tell me?" POB: It says on the envelope. Me: *look all over* I don't see anything. POB: DO YOU NEED GLASSES?! Me: Uhhhhh... POB: There's a box that says PUT POSTAGE HERE Me: There is not. POB: *hastily grabs envelope out of my hand and points* HERE! In this box on the back! See! Me: It doesn't say to put the postage there, it actually says "Tear strip and press down firmly. Postage is required" POB: DO YOU NEED GLASSES? *throws envelope back at me* Have a nice day. The supervisor Mary refused to look up my package, a package that a USPS investigation told me was located at this Post Office. Despite offering to tell her my tracking number, investigation case number, and all details of the 23-week investigation that led USPS customer service to tell me that my package was at this office, she didn't even want to look it up on her computer. I am not trying to be funny. When I got in line, I thought to myself, "Good lord, the woman in front of me has styled her hair with Sebastian Wet.... where do even GET Sebastian Wet these days??" She actually had really beautiful, long, curly blond hair, and I wanted to tell her how much better she would look sans the Wet; but since I was wearing over-sized sweats and no make-up, and she was actually dressed properly for being in public, I thought better of it. Aaaanyway, after about 10 minutes in line I noticed that the bottom 4 inches of her hair was dry and realized that it was just wet wet, not product-Wet. For several months now the USPS has been mis-delivering our mail. We often get someone else's mail from few blocks away, and our mail is often missing. There are days that we never get any mail, and when our bills come late, we have to pay late charges. About a month ago my fiancé and I sent out 70 wedding invitations. We only received 12 RSVPs back, and after contacting our friends and family, we found out that most of our guests sent the RSVPs back within days of receiving them. So we are now missing about 60 RSVPs that were pre-paid for!!! The 12 RSVPs that we did receive back, are partly torn up! The envelopes are partly opened, and many are ripped. we paid a lot of money for printing and sending those out. This is outrageous! This is the complaint I filed with Consumer Affairs. read more

There's a reason the USPS is going out of business. Got a "Sorry We Missed You" slip in my mailbox...despite the fact that I was home and the doorbell never rang. These guys don't even try anymore. Instead of an office somewhere close to my house, they deliver to 1600 Bryant. Got there at 8:30am to pick up my 2 packages, but I guess 8:30 is pushing it for them since they couldn't manage to open the door until 8:45am. I was the 2nd person in line. The woman behind the counter (who was actually very pleasant) brought me my first box and told me to have a great day. "Um, there are two tracking numbers on the sheet," I said. "No, you only have one box." "So, the 2nd tracking number is just there for fun?" She rolled out my second box a while later. Am I the only one confused about why the USPS seems so upset about having to deliver packages or sort mail correctly? It is their one SOLE purpose, and yet, they act like these tasks are massive inconveniences. read more

Gone are the days of just dumping a pre-stamped package in the mailbox, no you can't do that anymore. Yes, we are over the whole anthrax in the mail threats and want to tighten security but come on now! Working as an admin assistant I'm required to take mail that weighs more than 16oz into the post office. Why there's always a line halfway out the door always puzzles. The front desk is always fully staffed, but the employees seem less enthused to assist or just be there. They take this sadistic pleasure in telling everyone what they can't do; -You can't drop this here, go take it to the back dock -The dock is closed @ 3:30 go take your stuff to the front desk -What are you sending out? Printed bound matter? are there liquids or explosives in it? What the fuck! Their attempt to automate some of the services is a joke. Try sending a certified letter with that machine up front (uhhh don't bother asking questions or assistance on how to use it ...get to the back of the line buster!) I've seen patrons pissed enough to ask for management...but what do they do but roll their eyes and laugh it off, seriously this place will drive you postal. Smiles have been replaced by blank emotionless stares, eye rolls, and snickers of them talking shit as you exit this facility. The USPS your hard earned tax dollars at work...how did something as small and simple as mailing something become such a big pain in the ass! HELP! Any other companies in the Potrero Area that deal with this facility and bulk mailings...what's your solution, secret... Do share feel free to PM with ANY advise. It used to be a nice good neighborhood post office but it got very bad, mostly due to a new manager lady name Mary. This lady refuses to send packages to certain countries (what?? I know) because of temporary "shipping restraint" and closes the office doors 10 minutes before the actual closing time with no explanations. This is my neighborhood post office. I run a business on a bike and only have to haul my mail 3 blocks to here. As a result I'm always rushing in like indiana jones at last moment before the door slams. It's true, they give me snarky remarks about oversleeping when I do that, but it helps me get there earlier so they can get home on time. I'm glad they aren't robots who say "does not compute..." and stick my envelope in the paper shredder when I'm trying to mail someone a chocolate bar. My favorite cashier is Pompei. He's super fast and always has a smile. He cranks through my stack of stuff without a complaint, while doing a job that led to a certain word for disgruntled workers. Some of the other workers are not so fast, but I know what they're going to ask me before they do, so it's no problem to wait a few more seconds. When I get to the front of the line I'm already done being frustrated about waiting. Yes, they often have a line, usually about a dozen people for 2-3 cashiers when I go. I just bring my phone and do some text and email at the same time. I'm going to give away a secret. If you're in a hurry, head over to World Pioneer Video on 24th st. They have an awesome hidden post office sub-station inside that nobody knows about, and it's staffed by cute chinese girls from the family that also owns the restaurant next door. It's open really late (8pm most nights) and won't have a long line. I was sad about stopping going there, because they need cash and I have to track my business with my credit card statement, so give them a try. So, 1 star off for the line, but I love this place otherwise. Let me also give appreciation for the system. The US Post does an admirable job. I ship a hundred things or more a month, and their reliability is excellent. The subsidised media mail rate makes my business possible. It requires I personally ship with an agent (in case they need to inspect the packages to check eligibility for that rate) and I'm happy to have cool ones do it here. Note: post offices put out a small limit of mailing supplies due to people exploiting the free-to-the-public nature- like using boxes made to mail as moving boxes, stickers for grafitti, etc. So at a busy place like this you can find the racks empty. Here's what you can do. Go to the US Post website, and order as much or little as you need and they will stick it in the system and drop off at your door, free. Tape, boxes, envelopes etc. It must help them automatically track demand (and perhaps, reduce waste) but it's also very convenient. read more

So I have to use Pick Up counter to drop off prepaid packages, but somehow I still get the nastiest attitudes from the people that work there. We get our business mail delivered by carriers out of this office... We recently had a package which was indicated on USPS tracking as out for delivery. nothing was delivered that day At the end of the day the USPS web site said out for delivery status not updated. The next day the package was delivered a day after the USPS web site said it left the office for delivery. I'm uncertain where it was for a day but if it is out for delivery it should be delivered that day. FYI if you live in the Mission the letter carriers who deliver your mail come from Bryant street not the old small post office on South Van Ness. The South Van Ness Post office is only a P.O. Box Station and mailing counter. If you get a pick up notice and go to South Van Ness they will tell you you have to go to Bryant Street to get your package... I recently mailed a priority mail 2 day package back east from here and it did not arrive in two days and tracking had a lot of missing time on the package, it has acceptance and it showed up back east at the end of the second day. Perhaps this location is being investigated by UFOs which is the only explanation I've ever seen for lost time incidents. read more

I have visited this post office both pre and during covid-19 and while the service is brisk and businesslike they often deal with rude customers. The employees are doing the best they can while risking their lives, give them a break and be polite! That said the post office should post signs at the entrances directing customers to the correct counter and post updates about non-working equipment so people don't have to wait futilely in line. This is a ridiculous experience. I waited in the line on the right side of the building. The lady told me she has no access to the computer and she redirected me to the left side of the building. A lady in her USPS told me it's not her job to take a parcel. She said, the person is on break and I want to drop off a package, I have to wait until that person is back. She was scanning the parcel and gave me a 5 min of lecture about her job and telling me how much she is doing a favor. Soulcrushing. This post office is where all hopes and dreams go to die. It's so bad, it's like a scene from a cheesy movie overdoing the imagery of a shitty government establishment. It's not that my package didn't get to me on time that bothers me. It's not even that when I scheduled a redelivery, it didn't show up that bothers me. It wasn't even the 20-minute wait (behind only 2 other customers) that really bothered me. It was the overall unapologetic incompetence from the top down. I received a slip on my door leting me know they tried to deliver while I wasn't home. It had no tracking number, just my address and the date. I scheduled a redelivery, received a confirmation email with a new confirmation number, and didn't receive it. I, like a sucker, waited at home all day just in case it came. So I tried tracking the confirmation number on the website, and was told this number did not exist. So I brought the email with the confirmation, original sent date, my address, etc. to the post office. The poor girl in front of me was handed a package, but then because it did not match the sender's name on the slip, the employee took it back and wouldn't give it to her; nor would she give her any further instructions other than calling the 800 number. I was equally lucky. I gave my information, and the employee disappeared for 5ish minutes and came back telling me my package was not there. I asked her to check on my confirmation number, or to talk to someone else, and she directed me to the self-help kiosk thing. Nope! Still no record of this package. So I called a new number (the one for the local post office was off the hook all day, and the other 800 number on the USPS site did not offer the option to speak to a representative), got through to someone, and am now thrilled to be sitting at home, with a new case number, waiting for some supervisor to call in the next 48 hours. I have yet to interact with any human being there that seems to have the authority to act, and not direct me to some dead-end phone number, website, or kiosk.
