Incredibly unethical business practices and ridiculous to rip off consumers in this way. I had a package delivered here from a merchant free of cost and when I come informed that I have to pay $10 for them to release the package. This is a store policy and apparently an email is sent out. I have nothing and was forced to pay a fee to get my package. The issue here is NOT the fee. It's the disclosure around it or complete lack of that infuriates me as a consumer. I have a feeling this store intentionally does this without notifying the merchant or the consumer. This is a direct violation of SB478 in California. Update - I called another UPS store in town and this fee that this location charges is up to the store franchisee and their own policy. I just want to make sure others are aware of my experience. This store is definitely violating both SB478 and making revenue by deceiving consumers in this way. I choose to mail most everything via USPS 'cause "if it fits, it ships" standardized prioritiy boxes are regularly the best deal AND I prefer to support our public services with hopes they'll stick around for future generations. That being said, UPS does a few things USPS doesn't: - AMZN returns - notaryVan Ness This particular location is on Van Ness one block off Market St near SFUSD, many large apt buildings full of WFH folks, City Hall (who are now required to be IRL), main muni lines. Don't ever walk in and be surprised if there is a line. Pick a store in a less populated area if you're going to complain about a line. Sheesh. I've frequeted many UPS across the city over the years, but this is the closest to my apartment, has *two* self-service AMZN return kiosks, and is definitely my most frequented. Thanks to the two kiosks, I never have to wait at this location to do my returns. Once I had a brain fart and was attempting to return a USPS package to the UPS kiosk... the UPS employee was helpful and kind in correcting my error. Recent visits with many returns have given me a chance to observe employee interactions -- they're always calm, kind, and patient, even when the customer is the exact opposite. I've not paid to ship anything here, and will point you to USPS for top value before exploring private options. read more

All the employees at this location are amazing at their job, friendly and super patient. I come here often for Amazon returns and to mail out packages (at least weekly) I have NEVER had a bad experience even though I have witnessed other customers come in frustrated, impatient or just entitled and rude. I had an Amazon return that required a label. Since I don't have a printer, I called and asked if I could print it there. They said yes. In the past, I've paid 1.00$ per sheet of paper to print a shipping label, which seems steep for literally printing 1 normal piece of paper, but whatever. Today, the Asian man who said he was the manager tried to charge me $4.52 for printing ONE PIECE OF PAPER!!! That is absolutely INSANE! I told him there was no way in hell I was paying 4.52$ for a sheet of paper that costs less than a penny and I told him I always paid a dollar in the past and he said those employees were doing it wrong. I was ready to walk out the store then he agreed to charge me $1.02. This store needs some serious attention from corporate. I know they're all franchises and some stores will not charge you to print a Amazon return label and others will charge a small convenience fee to cover their costs (paper, ink, employee time) but 4.52$ is ludicrous. (The manager said it was to cover employee time, but I doubt the employees are making 271.20$/hour...). read more

Out of every delivery service UPS seems to try incredibly hard to be the worst. Half the time they leave notes for missed delivery without ever attempting to knock or ring the doorbell. I've waited over a week for a package I paid to be delivered in a certain day get delivered. Whenever I call and ask where my package is they either say they don't know or don't have it so it's not worth it to spend money and try and plan a delivery. Truly a bummer whenever I see I have a package getting delivered through UPS. read more

I had a stellar experience here today, coming in to return items to Amazon without packing and shipping labels. Instead letting the UPS store handle all the transport details, returning everybody's items "in the aggregate," as they say. The line was orderly and moved quickly. This store has a big bin with a sign that says if you have a return with a shipping label already on your package, ready to go, you can skip the line and drop your return package directly into that bin. Two quick-working, apparently experienced, polite, helpful workers were behind the counter, My guy just scanned my return code, taped a label onto each return package, handed me a receipt, and off I went. This UPS Store is out of my way, but my neighborhood's North Beach UPS Store staffer had been so rude to me this morning when I phoned to ask a question,, that I knew I did not want to deal with that kind of attitude and energy. THANK YOU CID & BELLA! YOU GUYS PHUCKIN' ROCK!!! There are two places you will NEVER find me at during the holiday season: The Mall or USPS. I HATE waiting in line and I HATE crowds. I may not seem like it on Yelp but I'm actually a polite person. I let people cut in front of me when I'm driving. I hold doors open for people. I even have mannerisms. *gasp* Shocking, I know given all the crass statements and cussing in my reviews. However, going to the mall and USPS during the holiday season brings out the "zilla" in me. Honey, those bridezillas b*tches you see on WE got nothing on me. Cut me off in the parking lot? *rolls up beside you and flips a birdie* Don't hold the door for me? "Oppsie, did I just body slam you with my shopping bags?...MY BAD." Give me attitude when completing a transaction? Payback is a b*tch...on YELP. You get the point. As I was driving to work this morning I noticed there was a new UPS store open one block from the office (grand opening was 12.19.11). I initially intended to buy a box and packing supplies for something I had to ship but I found out they ALSO ship via USPS. WHOOO HOOO! It saves me a trip to the god forsaken USPS two blocks away at Fox Plaza where the eye-rolling workers work at a phuckin' snail pace and the customers are on crazy pills. I went into UPS today during my lunch break and was immediately greeted by Bella and Cid. I was inquiring about box sizes and they told me I should bring in whatever I needed to ship. 10 minutes later, I returned with my items in tow and Bella let me try out several box sizes. When I found the perfect one, Cid bubble wrapped everything for me to ensure everything would get there safely. Apparently, boxing and wrapping everything up for me was part of their shipping services. AWESOME. After they prepared the shipping label and I paid, Bella said, "Thank you for your patience." Are you phuckin' kidding me? You're thanking me? I should be thanking YOU guys for going above and beyond your call of duty. Cid and Bella's genuine warmness, willingness to help, and overall customer service left me completely floored. Sh*t, even faking it I wasn't even that nice when I worked as a female Al Bundy in college. I can't thank Cid and Bella enough for restoring my faith in the retail and service industry and making my life 100x easier (not to mention maintaining my sanity) during this holiday season! Best UPS store in the city. Normally when you walk into one, you're greeted with a heavy hello and people who just hate their jobs. The staff here totally go against the grain with their friendliness and politeness. We had to get a document notarized and was in and out within minutes. When the company responded to us saying that they wanted additional items specified on the document and that we would have to get it redone, this store had no problem helping us. She even went above and beyond to call for assistance in reference to legalities because the company document was well, ridiculous. Anyhoo, she took the time to help us and got everything squared away. I am thankful for the service received at this store and will be coming back for any future UPS needs. read more

They charge an extra $3.99 + print surcharge to just PRINT a return shipping label from THEIR printer to USE their shipping service that's already PREPAID. That's almost $5 to forward a shipping label from my email to their dedicated email address. What a rip off!!!! What's the fee for? For the customer service person to prance over to the printer or stretch their shoulder to the printer?! Avoid like the plague. I shipped about 8 or 9 packages when I moved and almost all of them were damaged. The box with my monitor was smashed and had a hole in it and a shattered screen. My desktop pc's (worth about 3k) box was smashed and it won't turn on. Some were so bad the box was split open and contents were falling out. They were all tightly packed with lots of bubble wrap from UPS and peanuts. Also they were all shipped on various days so it's obviously a theme and not an isolated incident. The way in which they were damaged were not normal handling either, they were obviously pretty violently thrown or dropped. If you have anything you even remotely care about ship it elsewhere. I paid about 1000$ in shipping costs and it arrived with about 1300$ worth of damage. It made an already extremely stressfull move even worse. Wish I could give 0 stars. read more

Maybe you've called customer service at Fedex to no avail. Well, let me tell you, this UPS Store may be tiny, but it is MIGHTY in heart. I've now been here several times for various reasons (shipping someone their forgotten items, Amazon returns, etc.) during shelter-in-place and the people here are all so patient, kind, helpful, and non-judgmental. I won't go into details but have certainly tested their patience with dumb questions and sometimes no answers. The lines have also never been very long.
