Came here because the 1390 Market St Fox Lobby location looked closed. So this is located at the basement of a federal court house. Being so I had to show ID, take out my wallet, belt, jacket and watch just to enter. The office itself was empty, maybe getting a couple walk ins a day from the people that work the building.

Came here on December 14th to mail three packages during the holiday rush. There was no line. Out in 5 minutes. Enough said.

One of the several persistent problems is the USPS Dropbox that they manage inside of Fox Plaza foyer. The single Letters Mail drop box is wholly missing the catch basin. This deficiency plainly shows the person who might drop mail there that the location's single letter drop is completely insecure. However, directly next to the single letter drop is a mail bundle drop bin. The mail bundle drop location still has the bin underneath it to receive mail. And labels for the bin show days and times of the week that mail is collected. But that bin has a cover plate that is partially loose. This allows anyone with a slim enough arm to reach inside the bin and take mail that does not belong to them out of the USPS mailbox. I've seen no posted notifications on the USPS site about this mail drop being decommissioned and longer being an available USPS Dropbox location. And there are new posted notices on the location from the USPS either about any decommissioning. The remaining label on the bin with days and times for collection also signify that this location appears to be still active. The security guards in the foyer of Fox Plaza still think that it is an active USPS mail drop location. And they even indicated that mail drop is available for use. On the usps.com website, a search shows the USPS still considers this drop location named as "USPS COLLECTION BOX" at 1390 Market Street, San Francisco, California, 94102 to be active. The same is indicated for another collection box at the same address. https://tools.usps.com/locations/details/9410200249 https://tools.usps.com/locations/details/9410200231 It's time for the USPS to do one of things with that mail drop location. Either fully decommission it by removing all bins and sealing any drop slots. Or fully restoring the job location with some maintenance.

Incredibly unethical business practices and ridiculous to rip off consumers in this way. I had a…read morepackage delivered here from a merchant free of cost and when I come informed that I have to pay $10 for them to release the package. This is a store policy and apparently an email is sent out. I have nothing and was forced to pay a fee to get my package. The issue here is NOT the fee. It's the disclosure around it or complete lack of that infuriates me as a consumer. I have a feeling this store intentionally does this without notifying the merchant or the consumer. This is a direct violation of SB478 in California. Update - I called another UPS store in town and this fee that this location charges is up to the store franchisee and their own policy. I just want to make sure others are aware of my experience. This store is definitely violating both SB478 and making revenue by deceiving consumers in this way. This isn't a normal practice across UPS stores.

UPS. USPS. FedEx. They're all the same to me. I choose to mail most everything via USPS 'cause "if…read moreit fits, it ships" standardized prioritiy boxes are regularly the best deal AND I prefer to support our public services with hopes they'll stick around for future generations. That being said, UPS does a few things USPS doesn't: - AMZN returns - notaryVan Ness This particular location is on Van Ness one block off Market St near SFUSD, many large apt buildings full of WFH folks, City Hall (who are now required to be IRL), main muni lines. Don't ever walk in and be surprised if there is a line. Pick a store in a less populated area if you're going to complain about a line. Sheesh. I've frequeted many UPS across the city over the years, but this is the closest to my apartment, has *two* self-service AMZN return kiosks, and is definitely my most frequented. Thanks to the two kiosks, I never have to wait at this location to do my returns. Once I had a brain fart and was attempting to return a USPS package to the UPS kiosk... the UPS employee was helpful and kind in correcting my error. Recent visits with many returns have given me a chance to observe employee interactions -- they're always calm, kind, and patient, even when the customer is the exact opposite. I've not paid to ship anything here, and will point you to USPS for top value before exploring private options.

I gave him a document to notarize. He asked where the rest was. Omitting details for brevity, but I explained myself. He immediately escalated by asking why I was being difficult. I disagreed with the premise and pointed out that I was literally holding *all* papers out for him to grab. Instead of noticing and focusing on the actual task/service, he was more interested on "winning". I turned around and was bummed we didn't have an audience. Very similar things have happened in the past when I've asked simple questions and he just creates friction and unavoidable conflict. Hate to be an armchair psychologist but this delusional man - operating under the guise of charm - needlessly turns basic interactions (e.g. "just dropping off, where do I put this box?" or "hey can you help me with this label issue?") into degrading, gaslight-ey situations claiming the opposite of the the objective, visible truth while it is happening. Pattern behavior, not a one-off instance. Passable place if you don't need to interact? ‍
