I was given this company as I needed to ship my port to my travel agent. It was sent to me by FedEx but FedEx does not ship alcohol. They told me that Postal Chase would be able to ship alcohol. I came in and was greeted immediately and the process to send my port from Portugal was process and will be sent to Beverly Hills. As this shipment is alcohol, I had to pay a $10 fee for an adult to sign for the delivery . Service was around $36.00 . Great service and excellent customer service! We have been using this Postal Chase for years and years because it's nearby, the staff is always friendly, and we've never had anything to complain about. So even though there is a FedEx store a block away, when I needed something delivered "overnight" I didn't hesitate to go to the Postal Chase. And boy, am I glad I did! The package that I'd paid an astronomical fee to have UPS deliver "Next Day Air" wasn't delivered for 3 days. Yes, it was eventually delivered, eventually, but the person I sent it to was already in a different state. I went into the Postal Chase ready to have them tell me it wasn't their fault, or these things happen, or there's no guarantee, etc. Instead, the clerk took down the details and told me the owner would be in touch. He called me the same day! Before I even had a chance to complain he apologized and offered us a full refund. The best customer service I've run into in years. read more

Why is this place so freaking expensive. I came to drop off two small packages that would have fit in USPS medium priority mail boxes. I came here somewhat out of convenience and also because I didn't have the packing materials to adequately protect the fragile items I was sending. I was shocked when I saw that my two small packages totaled $91 versus the ~$40 I would have paid at USPS. Lesson learned. Convenience costs money! I will say the man who runs the place is very nice and extremely helpful, but I am still in shock. read more

Came by two weeks ago, I wanted to drop off my FedEx shipment, the man said they DO NOT scan prepaid shipment, I can just leave it on the ground, of course I did not just leave it there. He was lazy to scan it in, that's all. I have never been to a drop off location that refuse to scan in (this is the only one!), without scanning in as acceptance or in possession of FedEx, there's no proof I dropped off the shipment IF it become lost or stolen, so there's no coverage. No receipt to proof anything. I don't get why they refuse to do it, it's just a simple scan and it's their job too. Just lazy. read more

I've shipped and had packaged a number of parcels here. The service while expensive has always been good. Tony also has also done probably hundreds of notarizations for me - all very precise and accurate. If there is a line you can wait a while. I'd recommend coming at off-peak times or just going across the street for a coffee. Package drop off with a label for UPS and FedEx is very simple. read more

The employees at Postal Chase took the wine, I paid over $300 for next day shipping and insurance, I have receipt and tracking numbers. The wine was never given to the shipper, so the shippers insurance will not cover it. I called Postal Chase repeatedly and all I was told was "we don't know where you wine is, sorry." So, I am out the shipping fees, out the wine, and basically robbed. I hope they at least treated the wine with the respect that it deserved, they sure didn't treat me that way. read more

They are charging DOUBLE the price that you would pay at a UPS store! If I could, I would not even give them one star. I was there to ship an UPS package. The guy was trying so hard to tell me that I had to buy an over size box in order to protect the item that I was shipping, then he sealed the box as he's talking to me without my permission. I only lived a block away and I had plenty of boxes at home that I could've used. After being forced to purchase a $5 box, that he told me it costs $25 to ship the package to Illinois. AND they do not offer signature required at their store. I have just shipped a larger and heavier package from an UPS store at Palo Alto to New York city PLUS signature required with SAME shipping charge! The cashier was trying to explain to me that they have to mark up the price A LITTLE bit and that is how local business make their profit. To me it was just way OVERPRICED! So I declined to ship my package there, as I was paying for the box. Then the cashier got upset and started yelling at me and told me that I'm wasting my time by going to UPS store. UPS store charged only $3.50 for exactly the same box that they sold me for $5. I got to ship the package for $13 at the UPS store as they were trying to charge me $25. It is ridiculous that they marked up $14 profit from shipping one package for UPS. Moreover, the cashier had no right to yell or even get upset at the customer when they are charing DOULBE the PRICE of UPS store. read more

I have used the Postal Chase several times, but just for their notary service. They seem to always have a notary on duty which is great, and they get the job done quickly for the standard $10 per notary fee that you see at other places. I must say that the employees often seem quite rushed, stressed, and a bit overwhelmed when there are customers waiting. Although they are friendly to customers, they sometimes bicker at one another, which is a bit awkward. read more

I'm new to the city and I've waited in long lines at the USPS on Lombard and Fillmore as well as the one near the Safeway in the Marina. I've also been to The UPS Store on Chestnut in the Marina which was ok. The Postal Chase was so much better - so quick and easy! They wrap up everything for you quickly and securely. You can choose from 12-15 different price options and the guys are very nice. I will do all my shipping and mailing from The Postal Chase. read more

This has been my go-to place for shipping packages for a number of years. I second all the reviewers who rave about the friendly and dependable service. The staff is great...very helpful. The Postal Chase takes the pain out of packing and shipping packages (well, maybe not the pain to your wallet...they do tend to be rather expensive). I really don't want to go anywhere else for Fed Ex shipments. So why not 5 stars? Simple. This store needs to re-think their holiday hours. Each year, I trot down there to mail packages in the morning, only to face the same scenario; the store doesn't open until 9 AM (unlike Jet Mail on Fillmore...they open at 8 AM during the holidays). This makes it very difficult to get packages mailed before work hours. Opening at 8 AM would be so much more convenient. Not only that, the store is usually still dark and locked RIGHT UP until 9 AM on the dot. I'm always waiting in front (usually with several others) nervously hoping someone will come open up. I hope the manager will reconsider this policy...but in all other regards, I am a loyal customer. read more

Items don't get scanned into the system and there is no way to track now...it's been three days since I've dropped the items off and my packages still don't show that they have been shipped. I'm so bummed! They had prepaid labels on them!!! Could they really be opening them up and seeing what's inside first? I now feel the need to write to the receivers of my packages and ask them if the envelope packages have been opened and taped up. This is simply the last resort before you finish your last minute touches... the one stop to everything you need when it comes to sending packages or whatever. No need to rush or panic in finding the closest UPS, DHL or Fed Ex. It's all here, they even sell boxes, lil stuffing for your goodies, cards, supplies (tape, scissors, you name it!) They even have PO Boxes for your convenience. They fax, and they even have a copy machine, so if you're super impatient to stop by Kinkos, stop by here. Staff is super friendly and always willing to help, and always offering different solutions in how to send your package... Oh, they even notarize. How spiffy! $10/per signature. The last 5 times I've been here, I've had no complaints! Not to create a space filler on my YELP, I'm going to add an additional one liner... DO NOT USE THIS STORE TO RETURN PACKAGES!!! For the second time in less than 2 years, I've dropped off a package with a prepaid return label and it has suspiciously never been scanned into Postal Chase's tracking system or been picked up by UPS. Given the unfortunate outcome of the first incident, which cost me over $400, I made a point to take a time-stamped photo of the most recent package and corresponding tracking number just to be sure I'd have proof in case the same thing happened again. (I figured it was statistically improbable but wanted to take extra precaution.) This time when it miraculously happened again my bullsh*t meter went through the roof and I confronted the manager, Tony. Tony: "Are you sure you dropped it off here?" Me: "Yes. Absolutely certain. Another package I dropped off at your store about 18 months ago also never got scanned into the system so I took extra precaution this time and snapped a few time-stamped photos on my phone." Tony: "Yeah, I remember that incident last year. What are the chances it could happen twice?" Me: "Given that I've only dropped off 3 packages in 18 months and 2 of them were never scanned into your system and thus never delivered, I'd say it's incredibly suspicious. Worst case scenario, you forgot to scan it into the system but the UPS guy still picks it up and it will eventually get delivered. The fact that it was never scanned and never delivered means it was stolen." Tony: "Maybe somebody followed you from your house and stole it after you dropped it off." Me: "Uh huh. That sounds likely. I'd like to see the security footage for the 2 cameras pointed at the door." Tony: "We don't keep the footage that long." (Note: It had been approximately 2 weeks.) Me: "What's the point of having security if you don't keep backup for at least a month?" Me: "Why don't you scan the packages and take responsibility when people drop them off?" Me: "Why don't you have people drop off the packages in a secure location behind the counter rather than 5 feet from the front door, which always happens to be open on one of the busiest walk streets in San Francisco?" Tony: Avoided the questions and never gave a response. Me: "I'll be filing a police report and notifying UPS to have them inspect your store." Tony: "I'm sorry we can't do anything to help you. I'd make sure no one is following you next time." (This was spoken as he was following me outside onto the sidewalk. My experience is only a guilty person goes to such great lengths to feign remorse and empathy. Only a really guilty person concludes with a ridiculous possible excuse.) At best, this store has terrible security protocol and I just happen to be a statistically improbable outlier. At worst, the reason they don't scan returns at the time of drop off is because they want time to open up the package to see what's inside and then re-tape it if the contents aren't valuable. It's a great scam because no one on the receiving end (e.g., Zappos, Amazon, etc.) would have any idea the package was opened and then re-taped again. Moreover, no consumer would be overly suspicious because "these things just happen" and the store owner made an effort to locate your package (knowing full well it would never be in his system or UPS' system because it was never scanned or picked up by UPS.) Bottom-line, I would be weary of returning pre-labeled packages via this store. read more

Went in to ship 6 boxes by UPS. Rude and unhelpful staff acted like a**'s. So I carried all my boxes out and am going to the UPS store now. This store is crowded, crap all over, dark, no counters, and unfriendly staff that is not helpful. Go elsewhere. read more

Horrible service. Went in for basic notary service and after the "manager" looked over my documents for 15 minutes - and continually asked me which documents I wanted to notarize - said he was under "duress" - due to his indecision and lack of knowledge- told me that he wasn't going to complete the work. I've had items notarized before and never dealt with such incompetence. When I asked for the manager- he said it was him (doubtful). And when I asked for someone else to talk to that worked/managed/owned the company, he refused to give me any information. He then told me he had other things to do and was incredibly rude. I'm at a loss for how horrible he behaved and the lack of professionalism at Postal Chase - where the entire business model is based on customers using the store for mailing/shipping/notarizing. read more

I wish I had read the reviews first, as I had an incredibly similar experience to below posts- dropped of a package with a prepaid label, and thought outside of the inappropriate commentary of the employee's opinion of the clothing I was sending back, everything was taken care of... Until I realized a week later that USPS had never even scanned this tracking info, and it was essentially missing. Seems that this package was never even handed off. Oh, and even if it was located- it was too late per the return policy of the business I was sending it back to for it to even be accepted. I went back to the store to follow up and the previously mentioned employee immediately went into condescending, defensive mode (now making sense, they seem to have this down pat due it happening a lot here) and then another man (the owner? manager?) came to "resolve" this by informing me they were not responsible for my now being out $125, despite being the last to have possession of the package. I've never experienced such rude "assistance". Mistakes happen, but they could at least happen with actual customer service, assistance and maybe not as smelly of an environment. I'll never be returning here again sole due to the way it was handled and will gladly walk to the nearby USPS, UPS, FED EX and other mail locations regardless of cost/convenience. read more

Anyone who has had to wait in the always annoyingly long line at the Marina post office on Lombard should head over to the Postal Chase for a much more pleasant experience. My fellow Yelpers are right - the customer service is always excellent. The guys that work here are super helpful and especially patient if you have a complicated shipping situation. I prefer to send all of my international packages from here because I get a choice of price options/shipping carriers in one convenient stop - and the service really is top notch! They also are a UPS collection location, so if you need to send something that has a prepaid shipping label, you can just leave the box in their bin with no waiting. Highly recommended! read more

These guys are great! I have had my mailbox here for about a year. They are attentive, inform me of packages quickly, easily respond to special requests and keep my packages safe if it takes a few days for me to arrive.
