    Big Dudes Big Foods B.

    Today, Lezsek Jablonski from @UnionPorkStore hooked @BigDudesBigFoods up with some 2-foot #hotdogs Not 2 footlong dogs but 24 inches of all beef madness with a hint of garlic. They are in the #GuinnessBookOfRecords for the #WorldsLargest hotdog but we weren't feeling a 44 pounder today. We got some French bread from @ShopRite along with @Emeril 's NY Deli Style mustard, @official.Heinz #ketchup , @ConagraBrands #Vlasic pickles and some @Wise.snacks #Ridgies for some crunch. #BigDudesBigDogs #BigDudesBigFoods #CelebrateEveryDay #globaleats #shenanigans #BDBFCertified #ThePhoneEatsFirst #WOYP #Forkyeahfoodies #BDBF @forkyeahfoodies #YouDontKnowJersey #BeLocalish #ClearEyesFullBelliesCantLose #ABigDudesGottaDoWhatABigDudesGottaDo #giantfood #bigfood

    spicy Moroccan lamb sausage
    Michael K.

Called in and picked up an order today of some of my favorites--Ankara fresh lamb sausage with roasted pine nuts, golden raisins and fresh parsley, Caribbean chicken sausage with mango and coconut, cranberry and almond turkey sausage with hint of rosemary (will go in my Thanksgiving stuffing), Moroccan fresh lamb sausage with dates, figs, apricots and hot pepper, Italian sausage with fennel seeds and sugar, candy bacon cured with brown sugar, smoked salt, and dry ancho peppers, spicy "wow" bacon, and beautiful filet mignons. The steaks are cut to order, and the bacon is sliced to your specified thickness. They are so creative with their recipes, and their products are the freshest and of the highest quality. It is a pleasure to shop here. This unique mom & pop business is open to the public Thurs, Fri, Sat, 8AM-4PM. for pre-arranged curbside pickup or delivery. The store remains closed, not for covid, but because of the staffing shortage. Call to place your order and get daily specials. They are the nicest people who love their loyal customers, and it only takes one visit to this place to become one.

    T-Bone wet aged steak

The service and quality of food here is unmatched!!! We had T-bone steaks (wet aged) and they were so tender and buttery and melted in our mouths. Perfect treat! The owner cuts the meat to order so it is fresh and delicious! The daughter helps take orders and she was so helpful explaining the difference between wet aged and dry aged steaks. The wet aged are similar to what you'll have at a steakhouse. The dry aged are more meaty and dried for at least 45 days. Their sausage menu looks phenomenal and they post their menus on their Instagram. The owner was so sweet too! He brought my husky pup a treat. We will most definitely be returning to try the extensive range of products they have!

    Dry aged steak with Javi!

Can't say enough positive things about this place. On a day where they normally only took orders by phone, they let my friend and I into the store because Javi (butcher/owner) was done with his work for the day. Once we were in the store, it was like a personal shopping experience. Javi came out and made recommendations on several things after we asked for his help. It was easy to see how how passionate and knowledgeable he is about meats! We bought a few dry aged t-bones, several types of their specialty bacon and several brats/sausages. We also purchased a few types of mustards to go with the brats. You honestly can't go wrong with anything you buy. We ate the best of the best all Memorial Day weekend off our grill. Few things that stood out - the wow and javi bacon, the sweet italian sausage, the specialty duck sausage (they may not have this all the time) and of course, the dry aged steaks. Javi also threw in a special wild boar sausage he recently experimented with, for free! Speaking with Javi was the best part of the experience. The rest of the staff was extremely kind as well. Again, can't say enough good things about this place. I probably will never go to another butcher. Can't wait to go back and try everything else in the store.

$21.85 worth of double smokes bacon. Thanksgiving and a happy death came early.

A friend lost to me at fantasy football. The winning prize was $20 worth of bacon from here. He even drove! The staff is very kind and patient. I've noticed the older customers here are grumpy and hard of hearing and the staff is very accommodating to their fallacy. They accept credit card just not Amex. I hope to come back as a winner next year's fantasy football bacon bowl. But, I always feel like a fat bastard carrying two and half pound of smoked bacon. After trying the bacon from here I will never go back to Oscar Meyers' or white rose bacon ever again. I'd have to try the homemade sausages next time. I tried a sample but it wasn't too good cold. I'm sure it would taste better grilled and wrapped with bacon.

    Sweet Bavarian mustard for Weisswurst
    Chris L.

Best bacon I've ever had, also Kasseler Rippchen (smoked pork loin) and Nurnberger (little) bratwurst right in Union! These German specialties are excellently yummy, usually difficult to find, so happy I found them at this deceptively small butcher shop. Sausage about $8/lb, special lamb sausage $10/lb, many free samples too. The Pork Store's bacon is generously rubbed in dry spices, long smoked, sliced thick. It can be eaten on the spot or crisped up in a frying pan. Absolutely nothing like the grocery store salt water cured stuff. I love it; She Who Must Be Obeyed had a different opinion. If you like heat I highly recommend the Merguez sausage, mix of lamb and beef with North African spices, fantastic. T-shirts say it's a German butcher, but I think Polish is more correct. Chaotic but friendly scene at the counter, different people will assemble your order all at the same time. Avoid wandering around, you will find many more things to buy :) I succumbed to the lure of a Christstollen. Tiny parking lot around back. Vegetarian rating: 1 star for the fresh sauerkraut lol

Had a good friend recently tell me I needed to come back, so we did. Tonight we ordered a half rack of ribs, a pulled pork sandwich, and the pulled pork Mac-n-cheese. In a word, the food was fantastic. I've had BBQ in a LOT of places and also have my own smoker that I've gotten pretty good at using it so I know good BBQ...and this is good BBQ. The ribs were delicious - cooked perfectly the way the want them in competition...not fall off the bone, but with a little bite, and the flavor was great. Amazing bark on the outside with tender meat on the bone. The pulled pork sandwich was so tender and delicious that I wish I didn't have to share it with Wifey. And their homemade BBQ sauce is absolutely great...a little spice on the back of the tongue, but still sweet without being overly sweet (they have four kinds, but I only wanted the traditional). The pulled pork Mac-n-cheese was very rich but full of flavor with a nice breadcrumb topping as well. Each platter also came with cole slaw, something often overlooked by BBQ places, but not here. Very tasty, very fresh, though I think it needed a pinch of salt. I do wish we had gotten some cornbread, but honestly, we walked away very full. The service here is super friendly and our food came pretty quickly...and I really love the layout and vibe here. I spoke to the owner about how much I loved the food tonight and how it was such a difference from my first experience. I'm so glad we came back. The people behind the counter all seem to LIKE what they're doing...and that means a lot. Real BBQ places are always pricey, because you aren't paying for just the food, your paying for the hours and hours and hours of cooking it takes to get the food to taste as good as it does and to be tender. You can't take shortcuts with BBQ. So yeah, Embark isn't cheap, but if there's one thing I've discovered over the years it's that you DON'T want cheap BBQ. Embark is a BYOB place so bring your favorite beer, order some great food, and sit with friends savoring the deliciousness. I will NOT wait this long to come back again.

There is a decent amount of seating, although there were more takeout orders at the time I visited. It's very clean inside and decorated nicely. I ordered the 2-meat sampler with brisket and pulled pork. The brisket was awesome, super tender and packed with flavor. The BBQ sauce really complemented the meats. The pulled pork was also very good, but the brisket was definitely the star. The mac and cheese was just okay. The breadcrumbs on top made the mac and cheese a bit soggy. Portions were a bit small for the price. Overall, I thought my meal was good but I would definitely come back just for that brisket.

I wound up ordering the Red & White Russian which includes Roast Beef, Turkey, Swiss, Horseradish, Deli Mustard, Lettuce, Tomato & Onion. You can have it pressed by request but I did not do so. I also ordered a side order of macaroni salad. The Red & White Russian was really good! The size was perfect and the bread was soft and chewy. There was a good amount of meat and cheese and I really liked the mustard and horseradish flavors. The macaroni salad was great. I would definitely get both of these again! We called ahead for a couple sandwiches and they were ready within 20 minutes on a Saturday morning. That's pretty impressive as we near the days of summer sandwiches. When I arrived they still needed a few minutes to finish our order up, but I needed that order to nervously make sure I was picking chips out that everyone would like in the car. They said they would be fine with anything but I don't believe anyone would be fine with just any chip. I ended up getting like 6 bags for 3 people. We left with a heavy bag of sandwiches and chips and turned this into a car meal on our way down the shore. It was the perfect sandwich! The red & white had chicken cutlet, greens, roasted red peppers, & moz on a ciabatta bread and I added avocado. Delicious and will be getting ahead. This would be a great spot for lunch and reading the reviews, it looks like they also make a great breakfast sandwich and they cater. With many more drives down the shore, I will need many more car sandwiches. Happy to know a great spot to get them!

That plan died instantly. We had just gone to Rocco's Steakhouse yesterday for steak... so naturally, we decided to go out for steak again. Because balance. Four of us rolled out like we had a reservation with destiny. We started strong: Grilled bacon with peanut butter and jalapeño. My coworkers loved it. I personally don't believe peanuts belong anywhere near my bacon, but I respected the chaos. Massive cocktail shrimp with three sauces--we split those like civilized people. Cobb salad, for health. Obviously. Then came: Dry-aged porterhouse meatballs with gorgonzola crema and black garlic. Good--but in my world, meatballs belong in a proper red sauce. I'm traditional like that. Main event: Bone-in dry-aged prime sirloin. Delicious. Tuscan-style, not drowning in butter. Ordered medium rare... received "this cow has a LinkedIn profile." Sides absolutely stole the show: The Quality Potato (elite) Gnocchi & cheese (life-changing) Brussels sprouts (so we can keep pretending we're making good choices) Dessert:Carrot cake ice cream slice + espresso. Because at this point, why stop? Service was amazing--our waitress and busboy were so engaging they even brought us extra cookies. I felt seen. The exposed concrete, Edison bulbs, and high ceilings give it that downtown-meets-Midtown vibe that somehow still feels special, even after all these years. We ordered the tomahawk for the table, and honestly... it was a little smaller than I expected. Still perfectly cooked, just more "cute" than over-the-top. But the real stars: Definitely the bacon with jalapeño peanut butter jam so addictive, sweet and spicy all at once. I come back just for that. And the sides are everything. The mac & cheese is insanely creamy and comforting, while the Brussels sprouts are crispy, perfectly seasoned, and actually make vegetables feel fun. Overall, it's a steakhouse that gets it right, classic, chic, and reliable, but with just enough creativity to keep it interesting. Definitely a must-visit when you're in NYC and want a little luxe without feeling stuffy. I bring my parents here!
