First time here after passing it many times. Went for a simple hot pastrami sandwich on rye. Expensive, but quality of the pastrami was excellent. Asked for it lean, and got what I wanted. The staff were very friendly, and they were busy preparing dozens of meat orders for pick up.

"Hot" pastrami sandwich

I decided to try this small family owned Jewish deli in an attempt to get a decent sandwich. Subway was next-door but thought I would pay up and hopefully get a better sandwich. When you walk in there's not much to be excited about, in fact I almost walked out because it looks like the place does no business. It is in great need of being spruced up somewhat. My initial impression was this is a working old-school butcher shop. My suspicions were right. The three other reviews speak highly of the meats. I did not buy any meat but I did buy a sandwich. I paid $8.50 for a hot pastrami sandwich on rye with mustard. There is a menu board behind the counter which list about five sandwiches, some salads and a couple of soups, all with no prices. Being a Jewish deli, I figured I couldn't go wrong with a pastrami sandwich. I was wrong. The Pecthers bread and mustard was the best part of the sandwich. The pastrami was not exactly hot, it was somewhat warm and not tender at all. Too chewy for my liking. On the plus side they gave you plenty of meat. The other plus is that they were somewhat friendly and courteous. Perhaps the corned beef is better, I have no idea because I likely won't be back. I took a picture of the sandwich, because it looked really good, however the taste was a big disappointment. Life is a gamble, oh well. No seating. (Wouldn't want to stay inside anyway) Sandwich: $8.50 Dr. Browns soda $1.50 Total $9.50 As a side note, I had a sandwich at Firehouse Subs and it was fantastic. I believe I paid $11.50 for a combo, which included a very large soda and chips.

Kosher butcher that rocks!

They are very friendly & helpfully. Their steaks are beautiful, and they have hand made sausage (lamb, beef, and chicken)!

Millburn has no shortage of delis, but Goldberg's Famous Deli is definitely at the top of the list…read more Goldberg's offers deli traditional favorites like fresh-baked bagels, lox, and sandwiches piled high with deli meats, as well as healthier options like salads when you want something lighter in an unapologetically casual ambiance. Goldberg's has been a local staple in Millburn since Tina and Marty Goldberg first opened the doors back in July 1977. The current owners took over in December 2022 and have done a fantastic job keeping the soulful and "old-school" Jewish-style deli spirit alive while making many subtle but meaningful improvements that today's diners expect and appreciate. However, it still has that authentic, "old-school deli" ambiance where you order at the counter then grab a table to wait for your meal and could end up with mismatched silverware. It's charmingly low-key and with a focus entirely on the food. The deli sandwiches are massive and the quality of the ingredients is consistently high. Unfortunately, that also means that the prices are somewhat higher than you might expect. A single deli sandwich served with a small bag of potato chips is in the $20-$22 range, which feels like a bit of a splurge for a casual lunch. That said.. You definitely won't leave hungry and the portion sizes encourage sharing or taking half of your dish home for a second meal. My dining companion and I split the West Orange sandwich, made with corned beef, turkey, russian dression, and cole slaw, on rye bread, which was excellent. We'll definitely be back. PRO TIP #1: Bring your wallet. I do feel obligated to point out that Goldberg's should be rated as a $$ / moderate price range (indicating $11 to $30 per person) rather than a $ / inexpensive price range (indicating under $10 per person). PRO TIP #2: While they don't have a private lot, there is plenty of on-street parking and municipal lots nearby. Use the mPay2Park app for the pay-by-plate meters ($0.50 per hour). Meters operate Monday through Saturday from 8am to 7pm; all street meters are free after 7 pm and all day Sunday. If the street is full, the Essex Street parking deck (24 Lackawanna Place) is a reliable backup.

I'm not usually in this area but recently I was in Union and I needed to pick some groceries really…read morequick and this was the closest supermarket. As I drove up to the supermarket I realized I had passed it before and found it interesting. This is perhaps the smallest ShopRite I've been to in quite some time. It really looks like this was originally a small neighborhood market that has been renovated over the years. The most recent renovation looks very recent, probably in the last few years. The sign is very shiny and new, the exterior is super clean and the interior is bright with a lot of the new lighting that ShopRites everywhere have been installing. That said, the store is smaller than say Garwood or Linden so expect smaller aisles and tighter turns as you navigate your cart through the store. Item selection was unexpectedly good. I find as a chain of supermarkets ShopRite locations vary in their stock. I figured with such a relatively small space they would have to limit their stock to the only a handful of brands but the selection was nice. For instance, they had about five or six different brands of peanut butter and a good selection of items in their Asian sauce section. The produce also looked nice and fresh. On top of all that I was impressed by their selection of items like Beyond Meat and Impossible Burgers. I did not really interact with the staff other than checking out. No one was particularly friendly but they weren't *unfriendly* either, just very neutral. This was not the best ShopRite ever, but I enjoyed the visit and it's good to know if I'm in the area I can pick something up here.

Just wanted to give a little update - in 2025, this ShopRite has been renovated and it is modern…read moreand very nice. I have been shopping here for 19 years now and I can't imagine going anywhere else. It has the best prices, great variety and quality food.
