Lovely little shop selling Polish, German and more European goods, meats and seafood. Smells amazing when you walk in - all the smoked meats fill the air. When we arrived, they had just taken out a tray of smoked salmon filets and smoked trout. Took a while to decide what to get, but settled on fresh kielbasa and coffee bacon, frozen duck sausage and maple bacon breakfast sausage, frozen pierogies/kluski/uszka, Kosciusko lager mustard, and German potato bacon salad. All the meats we tried were really tasty, especially the bacon. The potato salad was extra tangy. We bought a lot, so I ended up freezing some of the items, so I still have to try a few of them. The employees were super nice and friendly. One asked if any of us were Polish to make conversation, while the other was gathering our meat. We have also tried some other sausages in the past, including lobster sausage. read more

I have given the Union Pork Store 4 STARS because some of the products they sell are exclusive to their store. They sell 100 different types of wurst, 20 different kielbasa, 10 varieties of salami and 3 types of bolognas. I usually buy the Landjagger which is a spiced sausage which can dry to a beef jerky. It pairs well with cheese, a Yuengling beer and a football, hockey or baseball game. All most all of the sausages are handmade on the premise. They are cut, smoked and formed in the rear of the store, They have a selection of imported products which mainly come from Germany, Poland and Hungary. I usually buy their spaetales, and fresh bread, as well. I'll be grilling up some Bavarian brats for lunch this after noon. There is quite honestly no place like this anywhere in NJ and few in the US that not only know their business as intimately and care more for their clients than this place!! I make a habit of diverting any trip remotely near by to pass Union Pork Store and always get the candy Bacon which rarely makes it home before it is devoured cold (it is already smoked for hours). You can buy meat virtually anywhere, but to buy specialty products, including a dozen different types of sausages ranging from Sage which reminds you of Thanksgiving, to Asian duck sausage, to Wild boar from friendly, passionate owners who can recommend ways to prepare your food and actually make you a better chef, is an experience well worth having. The only drawback of this establishment is that the parking is not conducive to fast drop in visits. The offstreet parking lot is small, often full and inconvenient. The street parking is on a very tightly cramped busy street, however, that is no excuse not to visit this truly wonderful establishment. Like being in a small town in Germany buying fresh wurst, meats and all other delicious gourmet homemade items--everything super fresh and homemade. Bologna is amazing/-as good as the Haledon Pork Store (God bless Carl RIP and Carl jr who moved to Vermont). All the expected provisions were there for my Oktoberfest party-- but they had Sauerbraten for sale--marinated in homemade brine for 2weeks. Can't make this up this side of Heaven. A friend lost to me at fantasy football. The winning prize was $20 worth of bacon from here. He even drove! The staff is very kind and patient. I've noticed the older customers here are grumpy and hard of hearing and the staff is very accommodating to their fallacy. They accept credit card just not Amex. I hope to come back as a winner next year's fantasy football bacon bowl. But, I always feel like a fat bastard carrying two and half pound of smoked bacon. After trying the bacon from here I will never go back to Oscar Meyers' or white rose bacon ever again. I'd have to try the homemade sausages next time. I tried a sample but it wasn't too good cold. The service and quality of food here is unmatched!!! We had T-bone steaks (wet aged) and they were so tender and buttery and melted in our mouths. Perfect treat! The owner cuts the meat to order so it is fresh and delicious! The daughter helps take orders and she was so helpful explaining the difference between wet aged and dry aged steaks. The wet aged are similar to what you'll have at a steakhouse. The dry aged are more meaty and dried for at least 45 days. Their sausage menu looks phenomenal and they post their menus on their Instagram. The owner was so sweet too! He brought my husky pup a treat. Can't say enough positive things about this place. On a day where they normally only took orders by phone, they let my friend and I into the store because Javi (butcher/owner) was done with his work for the day. Once we were in the store, it was like a personal shopping experience. Javi came out and made recommendations on several things after we asked for his help. It was easy to see how how passionate and knowledgeable he is about meats! We bought a few dry aged t-bones, several types of their specialty bacon and several brats/sausages. We also purchased a few types of mustards to go with the brats. You honestly can't go wrong with anything you buy. We ate the best of the best all Memorial Day weekend off our grill. Few things that stood out - the wow and javi bacon, the sweet italian sausage, the specialty duck sausage (they may not have this all the time) and of course, the dry aged steaks. Javi also threw in a special wild boar sausage he recently experimented with, for free! Speaking with Javi was the best part of the experience. The rest of the staff was extremely kind as well. Again, can't say enough good things about this place. I probably will never go to another butcher. Can't wait to go back and try everything else in the store. read more

I am a huge fan of local butchers/meat stores and I will always try to support a local place over a big chain when it comes to buying meat. I have heard stories and tales about the greatness of the Union Pork Store for a LONG time and since I was in the area I figured it was time to see if they could live up to the hype. It was a slow time of day when I walked in the door and had two guys willing to help. The aroma when I opened the door was an olfactory dream...smelled SOOO great. I didn't have a lot to order as I was really just looking for some cased meat products...I grabbed two kielbasa, two jumbo franks, 6 brats, some meat sticks, and some Bauernwurst. A little pricey, but an order like this is always more expensive than you expect...and I simply didn't care. You don't get a body like mine by eating salad...I'm a meat guy and I love this kind of food. I'm hear to tell you, this place is LEGIT!!! Everything was really delicious and bursting with flavor. I was surprised by the brats, which can be bland sometimes, because they were simply incredible - lots of flavor and grilled up to a nice dark brown without burning. For all of you who've told me to try this place - a big thank you for turning me onto greatness. Best bacon I've ever had, also Kasseler Rippchen (smoked pork loin) and Nurnberger (little) bratwurst right in Union! These German specialties are excellently yummy, usually difficult to find, so happy I found them at this deceptively small butcher shop. Sausage about $8/lb, special lamb sausage $10/lb, many free samples too. The Pork Store's bacon is generously rubbed in dry spices, long smoked, sliced thick. It can be eaten on the spot or crisped up in a frying pan. Absolutely nothing like the grocery store salt water cured stuff. I love it; She Who Must Be Obeyed had a different opinion. If you like heat I highly recommend the Merguez sausage, mix of lamb and beef with North African spices, fantastic. T-shirts say it's a German butcher, but I think Polish is more correct. Chaotic but friendly scene at the counter, different people will assemble your order all at the same time. Avoid wandering around, you will find many more things to buy :) I succumbed to the lure of a Christstollen. Tiny parking lot around back. I love this place b/c there are so few places like this left in NJ. Old school butcher and they are german and polish butchers which mean you get all of the european goodies. They know what they are doing here, from some hungarian, german coldcuts, to their own dried and cured meats. They also do everything to order as well. I've heard about the Union Pork Store all week from my coworkers, and was told that only here will satisfy all my Memorial Day Weekend needs, and most importantly - make my husband a VERY happy man. So what did I do? I left work at 10AM, and got back at 11:30AM. Yes,...it is possible to get lost in such a small, packed store. This place is legit run by a mostly Polish crew, and most of the products you will find here are all in Polish. Little racks and shelves in this store that can probably hold no more than 10 people at a time, is really something to thoroughly eye over if this is your first time. If you take your time and walk around once or twice, you'll get a better idea as to what you originally came in there for. Were you standing by the counter and wondered why you were served right away? Because the staff knows that you're still confused and aren't ready to order yet. Do not take offense. These are professionals. They have pictures of smiling pigs on the walls for God's sake! My purchase contained: 1) 2 pre-marinaded steaks 2) 6 German fresh bratwursts 3) a jar of Polish kraut 4) a pound of German potato salad with bacon My damage: $38! This is a HUGE steal if you were to go to any other main stream market. Worth the wait; if you're outside of the store on line, know that there is goodness at the end of this tunnel. read more

His approach and dedication to his craft produces the highest quality bacon, sausages & wursts with an incredible variety to choose from. This place is so good, I found myself needing to write this review to let you know how great it is. The Union Pork Store specializes in sausages, meats, and european goods. I saw regulars at this place which is always a good sign. The customer service was great! "Jobbie"-- I hope I didn't butcher his name -- was extremely helpful and patient with my questions and uncertainty when ordering. The only thing better than their service is their meat selections. They have a wide variety of sausages from traditional German bratwurst to Chicken Habanero with Pineapple sausages for the more adventurous. If you aren't sure of what you want, they also had a variety of 6 or 8 cooked sausages samples for you try at the counter which I found helpful. In addition to the sausages and meats, they also carry a number of imported European goods. These ranged from canned goods to chocolates and candies to much more. It all caught my interest but I didn't have the time to fully explore the items. We went home with a bag of meat goodies to try out and will definitely be returning for more. Here's a tip: If you want order a specific cut of meat, just call in advance. If they don't have it available, they'll have it ready for you in two to three days. read more

The butcher was very helpful and took time to chat with us, even though there were other customers there. The prices are very reasonable for what I consider specialty items, and more importantly everything was fresh and delicious. They were extremely generous, as they gave us 3 different types of sausage to take home to sample. Will definitely visit again. Found these guys online and ordered Spicy Texas Wieners aka "spicy beef hot dogs" and they were great! The owner took my order over the phone and shipped them to me in NY arriving the very next day. I've already placed my second order with a stockpile of the delicious all beef spicy hot dogs and highly recommend them. Just take a look at their selection! Glad I found these guys and that they ship - as I couldn't find anyone who actually MADE their own sausages and beef Frank's... How to improve: my only recommendation is that they get an online store for people to order online. Being a self-proclaimed bacon connoisseur, one of my friends gave me some bacon from Union Pork Store as a gift and now that friend is my best friend because of how amazing it was! I've been back to Union Pork Store multiple times and consider it to be a treat every time I go. The smoked bacon is by far my favorite thing to get there. I prefer the 'Reo bacon, which has a spicy Oreo rub on it, which I think is really interesting and delicious. Some other flavors they usually have are tropical, coffee, and candy. I've also gotten their sausages and polish kielbasa and kabanosy, which all have been really great. They have unique types of frozen sausages too, like turtle and alligator. The last time I was there, I got some head cheese as well and the butcher let me try a few different ones, which I thought was nice. Every staff member that I've come in contact has been friendly and knowledgeable. Other than meats, I've also gotten some cheese, like Limburger and handkase. When I was on the paleo diet, I would also go there to get bacon and duck fat for cooking, which can sometimes be hard to find. I haven't tried their German potato salad or other prepared foods, but I'll definitely have to give them a try the next time I go! read more

Several times I have past by this store without giving it a second glance. Lets be honest the name itself "Union Pork Store" isn't enticing enough for one to want to stop by. From the outside its a hole in the wall with no parking available. You must park on the side street or by the super market and cross over on a busy street to get to. While the inconvenience and lack luster sign has prevented me from coming here sooner, but the saying comes, never judge a book by its cover. As soon as you enter, you are in meat heaven. Over 100 wursts, 20 types of kielbasa, more than 10 varieties of salami, three kinds of bologna, and some of the best looking meat in butcher cases that I have seen in a long time. Literally almost all the sausages and cold cuts are made in their store. Specializing in German, Polish, and Hungarian meat and groceries I was educated by the staff on the differences of all the meats and allowed to sample prior to purchasing. Lets just say at the end I left with so much meat, my refrigerator is in meat heaven. I have tried and loved the different types of cheese head, Mediterranean lamb sausage, fresh bratwurst, Jalapeno and Garlic Brat, and the lamb loaf. I'm loving the Union Pork Store. I first found it a few months back when I was looking for brats for my German friends bachelor party. This morning I drove over and got brats, the Berliner (pork sausage with cheese) and hot dogs. Everyone at the party raved about the sausages. They have samples on the counter which is a great way to taste several of the home made sausages. The selection is broad and the longer you stay the more you want to order. The jalapeño and cheddar hot dogs have a great kick and I will definitely be back for more. I can't wait to try some of the others. The demise/change in ownership of my go-to Pork Store led me to this unassuming gold mine of Polish/Magyar sausage delights. For the uninitiated, the sheer variety of selections would cause them to go apoplectic---I damn near wept myself. The staff are friendly and accommodating --a brother and sister combo of proprietorship--my only regret is not introducing myself and learning their names. The sister (is she single?) went to great length and details about the flavor and variety of Hungarian sausage and the differences in taste and heat. No need for a hard sale pitch from her. I was so entranced by the smells of perfection that I did not realize I had paid for my goods. I picked up some smoked Paprika and some cream cheese cookies, too.
