We had a close friend recommend this butcher. We went there with high hopes for a brisket and were very, very disappointed. The first cut piece we requested looked like no other brisket we had ever bought before, parts of it were very hard in the packaging. It was also not a long piece , nor the same height all the way across. Instead it was like a mound. It seemed strange but we had received a strong recommendation so we purchased it. For Christmas dinner, my husband decided to go to Romeo's for a pork roast instead of Costco. The pork roast cost us almost 3 times more than Costco and was not even half as good. It was dry and not very tasty. My husband is an amazing cook and Brian's and makes his own spice rubs, but nothing could help this piece of meat. I choked down three bites because I didn't want my husband to be upset, but we will never buy a pork roast from Romeo's again. read more

I had an OK experience here. .... It was near impossible getting in with my babies stroller. Little to no customer service. When I asked for a particular item, the worker said it was in the freezer and told me to get it myself. The store is extremely small and felt very cramped. ... It's really incredible the quality of meat that they provide for the price they give. My usual order is a ribeye that I grill myself, they usually come out 1.3-1.5 lbs and it's $17/lbs. Aside from Keens, Old Homestead and possibly Ruths Chris you're not getting better quality, and you're paying $80+ at the steakhouses. I've tried mostly everything though and again I'm always satisfied, I even bought that stupid cutting board just to show support because I do really love this butcher shop. This store specializes in prime meat, a gem for Brooklyn! I went and told the butcher , cut me a 2 inch thick porterhouse. He looked me and smiled and I smiled back. He went to work and in no time , got me a cut that has the right portion of fillet and NY strip. A very happy person at that moment. I brought it home , salted over night in the fridge. Slow seared with hardwood charcoal and a little of wood chips on my Weber grill for about an hour at 230-250(it's an old Weber, temperature control is not the best). Let it sat for about 30mins and served. It came out pink, juicy , smoky and BEEFyyyy. Fed a family of 6 that loved every piece of this steak this place sale. I am soo disappointed. My wife and I having resided in Dyker Hts for years have been loyal customers even after moving to Sheepshead Bay back in 2015. I came New Year's eve to purchase a couple of filet mignon steaks. I didn't see any on display so I asked the guy if they had any and how much. I nearly heard him but I read on the menu that they advertised butcher cut filet mignon for $21.99lb. so I asked for 2lbs. I really couldn't see what they were doing behind the counter but I saw him take a really large chunk of meat from the plastic and to me it looked way too big and wide to be filet mignon, those strips are usually no wider than 4 or 5 inches wide, but I asked him to cut them thick which he did, I paid tipped him as I usually do. But when I got home and opened it, what I found was not filet mignon, not only that but I was charged $24.99lb not the advertised $21.99. My heart sank because I've been planning this dinner so I cooked them anyway. I want driving all the way from Sheepshead on New Year's eve. The taste and texture was not that of filet mignon. The steak was okay but not what I wanted or paid for. I feel very betrayed & basically ripped off. I had better steak from Aldi, at least I know what I'm getting. Came here to purchase a prime rib for Christmas. Granted I know the place is busy from my previous trips but I was willing to wait. Got there and there was a steady flow of customers going in and out picking up their holiday meats. There were 4 men behind the counter and 3 more (that I can see) working behind the scenes. It was Christmas eve and they were definitely ready to handle customers. Took home a piece of prime rib about 6 pounds, cooking directions were on it, but no seasoning directions (I guess everyone had their own preference). All I did was season with salt and pepper and follow the stickers directions. OMG! What a piece of meat. Just enough fat to flavor it and keep it tender. Directions were on point. The piece cut like butter and was so tender. I've bought chicken from him before, and they slice it so well (at no charge), but I'll be back to try more. Cant wait till barbeque season. read more

They will leave the fat on for you or trim it for no charge or even slice them as thin as you would like and they taste amazing! They always provide a fresh batch and fine quality chicken that's great to just pick up and use same day for a great meal. Other popular items here that are sure bets are the chicken breast and the skirt steaks! My personal favorite in the summertime is the sausage pinwheels! They provide a bunch of different types that are just fantastic on a summer barbecue like sun dried tomato, cheese and basil and many more. For some reason you can also buy Costco-sized tubs of mayo and Frank's red hot here, which could be useful i guess. Since my local meat store does not sell dry aged steaks anymore, I decided to head down here to give this place a go. It is your typical meat store-offering chicken, lambchops, rib eye steaks, porterhouse steaks, etc. I decided to give the dry aged t-bone steak a try. When I asked how long the steaks were dry-aged for, he said months. So, why the heck not? After slicing off about an inch of the t-bone steak off for me, the guy trimmed off the fat and then weighed it. The rib-eye and t-bone dry aged steak is about $29/lb. So, when the butcher said the total was $65...this steak better make me full! Got home, cooked it in the oven for a bit, and then put it on the cast iron skillet...best $65 invested! I mean, you go out to have steak at Peter Luger's or whatever, for around the price but this fed five people! This place is clean, with many guys in the back preparing meats. Everything looks fresh in quality and the line moves quickly and smoothly. Prices are decent as well. I would definitely call ahead to see what dry-aged steaks they have in store before making the trip. Would like to try the dry aged rib-eye steak since they didn't have it! read more
