We've gotten the breakfast sausage patties, the dry aged 20-30 ribeye steak as well as prepared foods from here before. I recently got their plate of porcini with 2 delicious sides of mac and cheese and grilled vegetables. Can't wait for our next adventure here. We are going to learn how to cook duck breasts next.

Staubitz Market is one of those places that makes you appreciate old New York. I love coming here…read morefor the quality of the meat, the knowledgeable and friendly staff, and especially the old-fashioned atmosphere. It feels like a Brooklyn institution, with a history and character that you simply don't find in many places anymore. In a city that changes so quickly, Staubitz is a real treasure, and I hope it remains part of the neighborhood for generations to come. I also want to encourage everyone to support Staubitz (and the other small businesses on Court Street) right now. Our stupid and dishonest government recently reduced Court Street to one lane for cars (and the city blatantly lied by saying businesses on Court Street asked for this). The changes have suddenly made it extremely difficult for customers and deliveries, putting additional pressure on neighborhood businesses like this. Court Street has become a horrible mess. These longtime local businesses need our support. Now is a particularly good time to shop there.

You can only get mince and God knows what's in it. This is despite the fact that we come the day the meat supposedly arrives and not one cut is available. It's been one year, no joke, and we can never get any cut of meat we ask for. No cuts, no steaks, no biftek, nothing. Just mince. But I guess the customers that give the butchers money on the side as we see in front of our own eyes take precedence over loyal customers who never shopped for meat anywhere else in Bay Ridge. Lesson learned, you lost a repeat customer because your butchers give meat to who they want and save it for the people they like (who can give them money on the side). I guess bakhsheesh is more important than repeat business and customer loyalty.

The only tough things to consider while ordering from here was the staff had a hard time understanding orders between my friend and I. The sandwiches from here does take a while to come out as they're making it from scratch - so be prepared for a semi long wait. We both ordered different items - a Philly cheesesteak and a chicken cutlet sandwich with a side of fries. This place has a good assortment of deli items and snacks to sell with a narrow hall. The hardest part from our experience was both the chef and the cashier had a tough time getting our food orders correct. My friend got a Philly cheesesteak but both of them added an order of fries with her sandwich when she didn't get one. Mine was the chicken cutlet sandwich with the fries but the cashier was about to ring up my order and almost mistakenly stated it was the Philly Cheesesteak (almost got charged the extra price for the wrong sandwich). Luckily my friend and I were detail oriented and stopped them before anything was entered. Since the extra side of fries was made, they were nice enough to give my friend this no extra charge. But it was quite painful to correct and shocking on the customer side. Food is still good and didn't have a bad experience once we got to munch on dinner. But definitely check your items and the price charge when ordering from here.
