What stands out the most is their service. It almost feels like a home away from home when you step into this shop with multiple people asking you if you need help. We've gotten the breakfast sausage patties, the dry aged 20-30 ribeye steak as well as prepared foods from here before. My husband really enjoys their basic meatball sub for 10 dollars, which is as basic as cooked meatballs with a type of marinara sauce and cheese on a toasted hero. I recently got their plate of porcini with 2 delicious sides of mac and cheese and grilled vegetables. Can't wait for our next adventure here. So much wasted potential. A traditional Italian butcher at its finest, that I loved. The portions in the Italian sandwich I ordered, that I loved. Hearing Bob Seger and the Silver Bullet Band play "Night Moves" as I walked in, that I loved. The sandwich beautifully arrayed me, that I loved. The friendly service, that I loved. The bitter taste because of the sun dried tomatoes and some of the peppers, that I did not love. The high price of the sandwich, that I did not love. One of the many Italian delis in the area, Dellapietras serves a whole lot of different meats. They are newer compared to Paisanos/Staubitz/G Esposito (and not as new as Mozz Lab and Sanpanino) but they've still been around for almost 10 years. The people here are very knowledgeable regarding whatever type of meat your preparing. I personally go here for sandwiches which might be $17 but they are on massive heroes and absolutely stuffed and easily big enough for two meals or for two people to share which makes them more reasonable. I prefer this place's prosciutto sandwich over the one at Paisanos but prefer their roast beef and other meats. I've heard good things about the porchetta here as well. Outside of their absurdly large sandwiches, they also have a hot deli counter with a couple specials. I definitely prefer Mozz Lab in terms of cheese and Paisanos has more of just about everything else but the portion size here makes up for the slightly worse flavors. I've never visited a butcher, but after craving lamp chops I found Dellapietras on Yelp. Upon entering my SO and I were immediately greeted by Miguel. Miguel was friendly, enthusiastic, and efficient in helping us select the perfect lamb chops. Dellapietras was clean, the meat selection looked very delicious, and the rest of the staff seemed nice as well. Miguel took care of us and was very knowledgable about the pricing and even informed us about the best way to cook the lamb chops! I've walked into this place a few times and always admired how good their food looked but could never justify spending so much money on lunch. But today I finally treated myself. I got the chicken parmesan with two sides of veggies (I chose carrots and brussels) and it was one of the best I've ever had! I love a lot of things about DellaPietra's. I love the excellent balsamic vinegars and olive oils available. I love the bread, the sauces, the cheeses. I love the space, as well as the convenient Atlantic Ave location. I love the customer service; they are friendly and knowledgable. I love how they know excellent recipes to use with their products. I love their selection of all sorts of fancy salts (although 10$ is a lot to pay for a small vial of salt, even if it is pink.) Unfortunately, I won't be able to call DellaPietra's my meat shop because I'm not one of the Brooklyn Heights residents that live in the double brownstones with the views of Manhattan that cost $9 million, or whoever it is that can afford to pay $40/lb. for their steaks, even if they are dry-aged, prime cuts. Until I am one of those people (by my calculations, I should make it by some time around February 2237), I'll content myself with the occasional bottle of balsamic. read more
