We've gotten the breakfast sausage patties, the dry aged 20-30 ribeye steak as well as prepared foods from here before. My husband really enjoys their basic meatball sub for 10 dollars, which is as basic as cooked meatballs with a type of marinara sauce and cheese on a toasted hero. I recently got their plate of porcini with 2 delicious sides of mac and cheese and grilled vegetables. Can't wait for our next adventure here. We are going to learn how to cook duck breasts next.

Staubitz Market is one of those places that makes you appreciate old New York. I love coming here…read morefor the quality of the meat, the knowledgeable and friendly staff, and especially the old-fashioned atmosphere. It feels like a Brooklyn institution, with a history and character that you simply don't find in many places anymore. In a city that changes so quickly, Staubitz is a real treasure, and I hope it remains part of the neighborhood for generations to come. I also want to encourage everyone to support Staubitz (and the other small businesses on Court Street) right now. Our stupid and dishonest government recently reduced Court Street to one lane for cars (and the city blatantly lied by saying businesses on Court Street asked for this). The changes have suddenly made it extremely difficult for customers and deliveries, putting additional pressure on neighborhood businesses like this. Court Street has become a horrible mess. These longtime local businesses need our support. Now is a particularly good time to shop there.

I have enjoyed the ham, prosciutto, salami, pepperoni, turkey, and provolone. Last fall I was hosting people over and scrambling to find something to serve. On a whim I bought a few meatballs (eggplant and meat based) and the meatless rice balls. My guests were raving about them. I now frequently pick those up for a party or a quick dinner. In addition I love their oil soaked mozzarella balls -another party favorite. They also have a large stock of other kitchen goods such as oils, sauces, breads, salad ingredients, fresh meat, milk, eggs, etc. I feel really lucky to have this place around the corner from me.

There's a few items on the menu that are killer. The smoothies are always excellent, and great chopped cheese. But their salads are soggy and I wouldn't recommend their bagels because their cream cheese has been sour more than once. I also have had their Rueben before, and thought it was great. But this time it was so ridiculously skimpy on roast beef I had to leave a review. I'm not exaggerating that there is one single deli slice of roast beef rolled up in the entire sandwich. No Swiss cheese in sight. This is basically a roll of coleslaw, which is not even the right vegetable for a Reuben. For $10. I gotta stop giving these guys more chances because I can't afford to keep getting ripped off like this.
