Shame I was only in town for a weekend because I could live here. Firstly, everyone behind the bar was friendly, upbeat, attentive and most importantly, knowledgeable about the beers they were pouring. I love the coaster flight thing they have going on, super cute. Awesome brewery! I have visited nearly every brewery in the Baltimore are but somehow missed this one. I finally got to stop in today while in the area. Has the Autumn IPA and the cask Snow Pants. Many elements of this place were really great. The beer is great but not tippity top. They make most of the beers pretty straight, there isn't much departure from original recipes and that's ok, the beer is very good. We arrived around 3pm when it was slow. The afternoon bartenders are a bit mellow since the pace is slow. By 4pm, the evening staff had arrived and you could tell the energy level was picking up. For example, they asked us probably 5 times if we wanted another. Translation: give up your seats, we're about to get crowded ha ha. No biggie. We were ready to go. The place is huge, industrial, high celings, lots and lots of room and they serve bar food. While we didn't have any, it looked like the food was pretty good. There was an outdoor celebration going on, they were setting up a DJ. Ekiben, an awesome restaurant in Fells Point, was setting up to serve food. So was another restaurant. I have visited Union and consumed their been on many occasions, being a baltimore mid 30 something. That said, this is no longer a business I want to support due to their family UN-friendly approach of not allowing children in their brewery after 6pm. Most other breweries go out of their way to create inclusive environments, so I'll take my business and money to places that are in alignment with my values. Union: you've become a 'what not to do' and have been a frequent topic of conversation with 30 somethings in Baltimore. Husband and I have been wanting to visit more breweries. We heard about Union Craft Brewing from a friend here in Baltimore and had to visit. We gathered some friends and went down and could not have had a better time. We walked in and weren't nearly as confused as other breweries we've been to. We were immediately greeting and found a spot. We didn't feel out of place, nor did the menu disappoint! After a couple drinks with friends, we walked outside and were surprised by dogs and more friendly faces! We interbred in staying only an hour or so, and instead stayed the whole night making new friends, drinking great beer, and having a great time. Definitely 5 stars for everything. Definitely a Baltimore staple! I went for the second time today and was able to enjoy some time outside in the shade before the rain. Large variety of beers plus some food from Well Crafted Kitchen. I had a basic lager (zadie's) that was refreshing in the heat - seems like there's a beer for everyone, and they're all very reasonably priced. Split a few pizzas with my friends - they were delicious, creative, and filling! We had the asparagus and potato pizzas (carbs on carbs on carbs was perfect). There's also a ton of parking, and there's somehow always enough seating even when it's busy. Overall, Union is a great place to grab a casual drink, and I'll definitely be going back throughout the summer. read more

The union collective is a super cool place to hang out and union brewery is no exception. After I climb at earth treks, I'm always tempted to stop here for a drink--I deserve it right? Blackwing is my favorite hands down. Foxy comes in at a close second. The space is huge and it's always crowded when I go. Sometimes I find myself yelling while I'm trying to have a conversation. They have an outside patio too that is great for hanging out during nice weather (or bad weather if that's what you're into). They have free breweries tours on Saturday at 1:30pm, 2:30pm, and 3:30pm. You also don't need to sign up. They just announce that there's a tour about to start and you meet them wherever they start the tour (they'll say where when they announce). Also, the food is pretty decent. The bowl, and the pretzel and beer mustard are great. read more

Met some friends here. Heard about the outdoor area as well as the indoor portion. The indoor portion was smaller than expected and certainly louder since it is housed in an old refurbished warehouse. The is where the beer is brewed in addition to the bar area where the beer is served. There are comfortable couches inside and lots of places to sit. There was a place to get food, but not a lot of items of choose from. I ended up getting a Margherita pizza, which was good, took about 20 minutes to cook, but it was fresh and hot and tasted good. Would have preferred other choices for food and some other ciders as there was only one option there. I had planned to visit the Creamery next door, but didn't do so, and went off to have more dinner food to satisfy myself. This is definitely a place I'll visit again with some friends, especially when the weather gets nicer and warm. But I'll make sure I have a sufficient amount of lunch or dinner food before arriving. I went this past Sunday when the weather was beautiful and thoroughly enjoyed the outdoor space and the huge mural on the side of the building. The beer was decent but I'd have thought they'd have a bigger selection, so that was a bit disappointing. Even more so was the food. The pizza was aight, and they offered very little seasoning to give it some pizzaz. Furthermore, all the seasonings were held at the kitchen window as hostages, more or less. Also ordered some overpriced grilled mushrooms that were delicious, just underseasoned, shockingly. All in all, a decent space, but I'd eat beforehand. read more

Okay so usually I wouldn't rave (in caps!) about how much I like a place but honestly, the people who worked here were some of the nicest, chillest, most down-to-earth people I've encountered in Baltimore. My friend and I accidentally arrived at 4:00 pm on a Thursday, a full hour BEFORE they even opened, and the staff was so nice about letting us in. I came here on a school assignment to learn about different tasting rooms around Baltimore, and we were lucky enough to meet one of the co-founders! He took a full 40 minutes out of his day to talk about his backstory, philanthropy, events, craft beer, and just answer all of our questions in general. What an absolute homie! We tasted the Duckpin (one of their most popular beers) and the Old Pro (my favorite) while learning about their business. I would highly recommend going on a Thursday at 5:00 pm right as they open since they donate $1 per pint to a different charity every week. Awesome place! I don't drink beer. WTF, why should I listen to you then? Because I like it anyway. So that should be a good sign? The beer is good and whatnot, but the place itself is a very cool hangout spot and I love the local partnerships. There's great space outdoors for people with pets. This is my favorite brewery in Baltimore easily. I'm a little partial because it is fairly close to my house, but they have a good selection of different styles of beer that they brew there, the staff is always friendly, the outdoor space is wonderful, and the kitchen is pretty good too! I also love that it is attached to the Rock climbing gym, a coffee shop, and an ice cream shop. You can literally spend the whole day here and you have everything you need ;) The porch is also dog friendly which I appreciate. Every once in a while, you get the urge to day drink, and what better way to do that than at a local brewery? A few friends and I decided to venture out to Woodberry to Union Craft on a rainy day. They did have an area of benches outside, so it seems like it'd be a good destination for some outdoor day drinking in the spring and summer time. There were quite a mix of different types of people, from hipsters to dudes in Vineyard Vines vests, so definitely a diverse crowd. They have brewery tours every half hour, which aren't terribly unique or anything, but are still a lot of fun, plus you get to drink beer afterwards! We opted not to go on the tour, which worked out well, because the bar area cleared out a bit, and we snagged some chairs at the bar. We saw that there was a set of Apples to Apples, which, after playing Cards Against Humanity, we thought would be sorta boring, but it actually turned out to be pretty fun. My favorites were the Steady Eddie (Summer IPA), and the Anthem (Golden Ale), which were lighter and more refreshing. They're known for the their Duckpin and Double Duckpin IPAs, but I seemed to prefer the level of hoppiness in the Steady Eddie. You can also get your drinks at the bar in Limited Edition cans for an extra price. The art on the cans is actually pretty cool, and they fill it all up in front of you. Service at the bar was pretty attentive and friendly, and they really seem to care about their craft. Beers are straight up $5 per glass, and the flights are $9-11 depending on which beers you get. I'll definitely be back when the weather is nice, although in my opinion, Union is a good choice for any type of weather. read more

This is going to be a hot spot post-Covid during good weather. The outside seating is plentiful, and comfortable. The inside of the tasting room is huge, and such a very interesting space. A great place for friends to meet up in large groups. There is plenty of parking which was a concern at their old location. Went here to try out some of the crafts they had after hearing a few reviews. It was tucked away in a corner so at first we weren't sure if we were in the right spot. Other people were walking toward the entrance so we figured to follow their lead, low and behold there was the door. As soon s you enter the bar is right there and above it are the various beers on tap. The bartender was very attentive and gave us samples when asked. I ended up getting the duck pin and a friend got the chessie. Both were pretty good and we tried their seasonal one. To the side there were some tables and in the back you could play cornhole or jenga. It wasn't expensive either considering it was a craft place. Overall I think it's a pretty neat place to visit, I would try again during the summer when the outside section is open. read more

We came by two Fridays ago at around 7:30 and the place was a madhouse. I couldn't tell you if it was because they were raffling off an RV that night, or if it was a normal Friday happy hour crowd, but it took almost 30 minutes to get our beers. I got a cask-conditioned Smoked Anthem which was subtly flavored and very drinkable. I guess it was worth the wait, but I wish that we had come sooner. At approximately 8:45, there was no wait at the bar at all. My tip: either come for all of happy hour, or skip it and come later. A food truck was here with unhealthy victuals that didn't tempt me. Check the schedule before you come. According to one sign, they closed at 11 pm, but I thought I heard an employee say that they were closing at 10. Another reason to check the schedule, but they should get their story straight. This place is in a cool location. You can walk there from Hampden or take the Light Rail to the Woodberry stop. I wish I lived in an area with breweries that I didn't have to drive to! Tip: they tap a fresh cask-conditioned ale every Thursday. Drink up, Baltimore! read more

Union has a great outdoor set up for covid restrictions. They're decked out with a live band and have a nice order system online. I would highly recommend making a reservation before visiting because the wait can be pretty long for walk ups, but there are plenty of spaces to reserve even 20 minutes before. Good beer as well! I really like their divine IPA. read more

Very fresh beer and good, fresh locally sourced food. First visit you think it's like a bowling alley kitchen and won't be good. Menu on the wall has no explanation of food just titles and prices. Stood there until we had to figure out there are actual menus to look at and order. We ordered anyway. Quick and impressive. Very fresh. The brats were great, a bit on the salty side. Bread was great, salami and cheese was quite good. So 4-stars only because the good could be a little less salty, and for the price vs quantity. Really amazing beer, great venue, family friendly, plenty of space. I took a star away due to the noise level. This is a very loud place and they need some soundproofing to lower the decibels. They added a corner with arcade games which you can hear through the place. I am really happy with what they have created so far and look forward to continuing to patron. read more

I give them kudos for their operation, style and friendliness. However, I'm not much into the actual beer. A little too hoppy for me. Their free beer samples are generous though and they provide a 15 minute tour of the warehouse, which is neat. This is a really fun place to go and hang out and have a flight of beer! I had a really good time and really loved this space. It was pretty crowded on Friday night but my friend and I were still able to find a seat. I liked that you can get seasonal brews and brews that you don't usually see on tap in restaurants here. The flight was nice although I do wish it included 4 pours like standard flights rather than just 3. I did appreciate that they are very conscious of the order in which they pour your flight so it is the most pleasing to taste as it can be. I will be coming back here! read more

Union Craft Brewing competes the typical checklist of the modern craft brewery. The standard selection of American craft beers are all present and are well executed. I didn't find anything wild or different to highlight, but everything I tried was solid. I was surprised at the size of Union Craft's venue. It's one of the largest brewery venues I've seen. It was pretty loud, so I didn't have much luck sustaining conversations with staff or other patrons. But it was filled to the brim with excited fans. I personally prefer the smaller more intimidate breweries with atypical beers. I'm glad I stopped in the check it out and recommend this brewery to fans of craft beer culture or new people interested in checking out the scene. read more

I love these guys and their beer is great. They're definitely one of the top breweries in Baltimore. That said, they have some kinks to work out in the beer garden with the new covid protocol. The whole process in unnecessarily complex. The single sheet with like 15 different QR codes that was aggressively clamped to only one end of the table had me wishing I had gone somewhere else. It would be nice if they could figure out a way to streamline this, or at least add a few more of the sheets to each table. Once you get done fiddling with all of the different QR codes, apps, and mobile sites, then you have to actually go up and order your beer. There's one station for check-in, one station for ordering beer, and then a third station for actually picking up the beer. They don't have any keg lines setup outside, so then someone had to go in and pour each order and bring it out separately. The whole thing is super inefficient. There are lots of great breweries in the area and all of the others that I've visited had a way better system figured out. read more

Located in the Hampden/Clipper Mill neighborhood right next to the MTA Woodberry Lightrail stop, the brewery is located in an old-fashioned warehouse building. The Taproom is open Thursdays and Fridays 5-8pm (Happy Hour) and Saturdays 1-4pm However, they sometimes open past 4pm on Saturdays! On Saturdays, either Kevin or Adam, the co-founders of the brewery, gives a free tour of the brewery at 1:30, 2:30, and 3:30. Try to get there 5 mins early since they often do start a couple mins early with the tour. No free tasting, but very informative about the whole process of beer making. Highly recommend it. Takes about 10 mins. Like many have said, the small taproom/bar area absolutely gets packed around 2-4pm on Saturdays. During the summer months they also bring out corn hole bags and boards for you to play. On most Saturdays there is a food truck on site and they have outdoor seating for you to eat. I love the fact that beers are served in glassware and not plastic cups. They provide free water in an orange Gatorade Gallon Cooler/Dispenser. Drink Local! My favorites are the Duckpin, Double Duckpin, and Old Pro. Very excited that they have expanded quite a bit and you can get Union beer like the Duckpin at Orioles Park at Camden Yards (I saw it at the Free State Pub on the 1st level concourse which carries many regional, local brews). The only downside with Union is they only make canned beer. No bottles. Also, the wait to get a brew on Saturday afternoons could be a bit brutal. read more

I love a good local brewery and Union Craft certainly is that. I have been meaning to come here for awhile and finally made it last week. I now wish I hadn't waited so long! I've already been a long-time fan of Union beers so I wasn't surprised that I liked everything I tried. When I visited they had a few special anniversary cask sours: 3rd Stone (apricot sour), Fraggle Rock (strawberry rhubarb sour), and Pink Flamingo (grapefruit and ginger sour). Between the three, the Fraggle Rock was easily my favorite, though I enjoyed all three. The atmosphere (while small) is pretty nice. The outside is spacious but the bar area is a bit tight. Fortunately, they are moving to a much larger space nearby in the next few months so that will no longer be an issue! There were also people from the SPCA there with a ton of pups so that was definitely a plus! There is also a food truck outside should you get hungry. I definitely plan on coming here frequently! read more

Taking an Uber here for the first time it was hard to find even for the driver but I would have to say that is my only compliant of our entire trip here. (Even though they ran out of popcorn!) Arriving on a Saturday around 5 PM it was a nice fall night, the band was setting up. We decided to drink inside. Deciding what beer to go with the man waiting on us gave us some good suggestions. Ended up with the Change Order and Anthem. Both were good beers. To go along with the beer we got a Pretzel from the Well Crafted Kitchen. Baltimore is so happy to have Union in it's backyard! At least I am, and I think other people are too! This place is great! Some of my favorite beers are the anthem, the duckpin (IPA), double duckpin (DIPA), and the Old Pro (Gose). Occasionally they have a syrup you can put in the Old Pro that changes the flavor and cuts some of the salty sourness. Their beers range from $5-$6. They have weird hours, but the hours are loosely followed. I think they close at 4 or 5 on Saturday's and I've been there until almost 6 before. If you're coming to Baltimore for vacation and you want to check out some local breweries, make sure you add this one to your list! Check the website for upcoming events, sometimes their are some pretty great events with food trucks and live music. Swag: Yes! Great swag!
