Waverly Brewing is definitely a hole in the wall. They have plenty of games and both indoor and outdoor seating. They are also dog-friendly both inside and outside! While they do not serve food, they do allow you to bring outside food in. Our bartender, Melissa, was incredibly kind and welcoming. The had a Kentucky Red Ale made of 40 different locally grown mushrooms, which I thought was interesting. I had their Pumpkin Ale, which I was told was made from real pumpkin and not squash like most other breweries do. They also had Sierra Nevada IPA at the time as well. When I had visited, they were short of beer selection due to some main private events that they were hosting. I would like to come back and try their other beers in the future. They also do not have a private parking lot, or at least I could not find one. read more

Tucked away, Waverly brewing is a great spot to close out the night if you're in the Hampden area. The staff here are so friendly and knowledgeable if you're being undecisive about which beer to get! They have fun decor inside and tons of board games! We had a blast playing battleship and connect four!! The space is big so it can accommodate anywhere from 2 to a group of 10 people. They also have plenty of parking in the area. I will advise for those that are not as familiar with the area, it can appear to seem sketchy in the evening, but the area is not at all bad. read more

Hampden has a few breweries, but I really like Waverly! It's tucked away in the edges of Hampden, so it's cozy and yet not as crowded as some of the others. Their beers are great. What a great little spot! On a warm day we started with a beer sampler (4 options) to taste a variety of beers and then settled in with a tall one. My favorite beer was a berry-sour, great flavor! The bartenders were all friendly and helpful and the space itself is great. There are two different indoor areas, one at the bar, and one with a more cozy vibe to it. I came to the happy hour. A cool place. Simple and fun. The walls are decked with lumber pieces, the bar stools are nothing special. The place is not stuffed with tables and chairs. I feel like there should be a garage door enterance. I am sampling the beers and enjoy the options. From pils to ales to IPAs and porters this place has a few to try and I am gonna grab a corner bar stool and rest my legs. This place is dog friendly and has a nice area for seating. Cool brewery with a good amount of seating, rustic and hipster decor, cool indie rock and a food vendor right outside. The flight are served in a cool restored piece of carpentry wood. The servers are really cool as well. I ordered a flight of their IPAs and red ale. The beers were good. I really liked their IPAs. They were not gimmicky and very straightforward, which is refreshing these days. The food vendor outside was a traveling brick oven pizza station. It looked really good, but we had dinner plans already. My recommendations would be more bar games (dart boards, etc.) and better board games. But I would definitely come back here. read more

They have a great spot for a brewery-off the beaten path, tucked away, ample parking, and space for outdoor games. They have a food truck there for your dining pleasure (not sure if it rotates or if it would always be that one). The inside area had a local bar vibe-complete with an adorable older sassy lady asking out the bartender, telling him he's not a loser haha. It was a delightful first visit, but the beer didn't hold up. The Bubbly IPA tasted flat-the Local Oyster Stout also tasted flat and got warm fast. We actually wondered if there was a keg issue, but didn't want to ask in case that really was just the taste. read more

Really fun space. Unexpectedly they had an open mic comedy show going on when we were there on a Sunday. Staff was very friendly and we got to talk to one of the brewers there who was a riot. Really a chill neighborhood bar. The beers are pretty good although going back a few times they tasted a little inconsistent. The golden sombrero is probably their best beer. I'm a bit of a beer snob and this place hit the nail on the head. The decor and ambiance were quite pleasing and there were a good selection of beers. Particularly a 7.7% blackberry sour - it was absolutely delicious and reminded me more of a lambic than a sour. This place is about to move up to the next level. They are brewing some good beers and two or three outstanding beers. Their best work tends to sell out quickly. I'd guess they will plan to focus increased production on the top styles. They might want to plan for a relocation to coincide with a step up in quality production. Waverly is the hidden gem of Baltimore breweries. Pros: -Great beer particularly their IPAs and sour beers. For me, the must-try beer is Batty Noh -- I pretty rarely drink lagers, but this one just hits the spot and you get a nice subtle sweetness from the corn. -Fantastic venue AKA the shed. Just a really cool spot to hangout for an afternoon. Large outdoor patio with ample seating and cornhole -Easily accessible and good parking options -- there's only about 5-6 spots at the brewery itself, but a ton more parking under 83 along the Jones Falls. I have also parked in the huge lot across the river and I've never seen any signage saying it's only for certain businesses. -Great crowler and growler prices -Food, kind of -- I'm not sure of the exact details, but it seems like they partnered with a local deli so they have some pre-made sandwiches, salads, and pastas you can buy. Cons: -Food, kind of -- if you don't want a pre-made sandwich, salad, or pasta, you're out of luck. Just go down the street like 1 minute to Birroteca and grab a pie and more good beer. read more

This place was pretty gnarly, and loved trying out the sour they had on tap. Pretty sure it was a Cherry Gose (Sour) and was great, would recommend if you are into that. I'm bummed I am just now visiting this place while the weather is so cold and windy out. Plan on having some cold ones here with friends as soon as it warms up, and love the fact that the interior has areas in the back to chill out and play boardgames. As far as the menu goes, they only serve beers and ciders, but the ciders are really good (I'm not a beer-drinker). One of my favorite places to try new beer is at Waverly. Every time I go in I end up getting a growler of something. This time, there was a Cherry G'Oat beer I got a growler of that was delicious. It reminded me of the Cherry Gose by Founders but a little more sour and with a slightly lower alcohol content. I am a sucker for sours and goses. Last time I was there I got a growler of a blood orange sour. I had to try not to drink it all at once. The fact the brewery is continuously experimenting with sours and goses along with keeping their quintessential and signature beers at a high quality is nice. I will certainly keep checking back for new beers at Waverly in the future. If you go, bring a growler too. The prices for most of them are more than reasonable. read more

Waverly is a hidden gem (almost literally; we drove around looking for this place). I stopped in during the day time when it was relatively quiet. Their flight is a great way to get introduced to many of their house beers, including their guest taps. My impression of the place is that's low key, and easy to drop in for a beer or two. They have corn holes to play with outside and if you're interested in having an event here, I do think they reserve areas. Or at least they were on a weekday when I visited. Their parking lot was full so we parked under the bridge a minute walk away. read more

Been here several times now. Their hours are great, and their taproom is awesome. Very relaxed feel, interesting "cool" decor, and clean. Staff is always attentive and friendly enough. I would give it a 3.5, though, because their beers are kind of whatever. Which bums me out. I'm not a beer snob, but when Union is right up the road and craft beer is so damn good now, you gotta have more than a few good beers and maybe one outstanding beer. Their beer menu might be too big? I have enjoyed several of their beers, most of them being on the darker end of the spectrum. I would recommend a visit, for sure, and have hopes that they will find their niche when it comes to brewing. read more

So, I like the beer and the events are awesome (Lebowski!!) but the servers- Come on!! Once I came by (with a friend) to order 4 beers for my group (had a friend to help carry) and the bartender was snarky about his ability to handle an order of more than 3 beers. The amount of time it took to negotiate the transaction was far more complicated than just having him ask me to remind him what I'd ordered. At the end of the evening and after spending about $90 for my birthday group, I asked for 2 waters as I closed my tab. Instead I was instructed on where to find the water cooler. Got it- I can get my own water from the Gatorade cooler but after $90 on a mediocre beer tab just be cool and hand me a glass of water without the attitude geez... read more

This is my favorite brewery!! The inside space is trendy and nice, with comfortable couches and boots for groups of friends to hang out. I am a pretty picky beer drinker and like over five beers they offer, which is very rare. My favorite is Golden Sombrero. The bartenders are friendly and speedy. I love doing the tasting and trying a variety of types. I would love to go when it's warmer to play games outside and enjoy the food truck. If you want to make a day of it, Union is around the corner but closes early so head there first. read more

After a relatively disappoint venture out to Union, Nina and I were determined to find good beer in the city. I was surprised to see there was another brewery basically within walking distance. We opted to move the car anyway and found a parking spot on a side street without too much hassle. Waverly has a super cozy, local feel. There weren't very many people inside, so we chose to hang out at the bar. We tried Golden Sombrero, Local Oyster Stout, Triple MoFo, Dubbel Clutch, It's Ginger Not Mary Ann and Summer Freckles. Nina was head-over-heels for their trippel and I loved Summer Freckles. The low key atmosphere was wonderful. This is a place I would enjoy bringing a book to and just vegging out. read more
