Locally owned and operated since 1985, this is a true local/ neighborhood 'shoppe'. Pinehurst is situated at the corner of Gittings Ave and Bellona Ave in a white building next to Charlesmead Pharmacy (another AMAZING and local establishment).
My husband Ken and I love this place. It is true, a local establishment- with Saturday beer taps open (they do Growlers) and people talking and drinking. Owners Bob and Charlie are often there and can make great recommendations for wine pairings as well as beers. I have often gone in there stating that I like certain beers and they are more than able to find new beers for me to try, based on what I know I like, that I end up loving.
My husband, Ken is a HUGE fan of Pinehurst. He loves local establishments and he finds the owners and staff very knowledgeable and friendly- all with a local/neighborhood feel to it. He is very big on bourbons and whiskeys and there is one guy there (Charles I think?) who has so much experience and knowledge, that Ken almost always comes back with a new sprit to try (he loves manhattans).
My ONLY (minor) complaint is that with their $99 case of wine (which usually retails for close to $140) often has more white than red- which is fine for those summer months, but I'm more of a red wine gal and would love to see more reds in the monthly case selection. SO minor of a complaint because we end up drinking them all anyway ;)
If you live locally, there are mailers and coupon magazines that often have coupons for % off spirits, craft beer, or wine (it rotates).
