Great meal to end the upper US marathon vacation!!…read more We had no idea where we may end up eating but the trusty Yelp app led us to another victory dance!! Yay for Yelp!! We had just cruised the nearby mall center thingy and were hungry on our last night in Boston. We saw the sites and did the things. Boston is a one of a kind place for sure. This was the choice. It was a great choice! Beautifully decorated and oh so chill inside. We have a thing that we do at places with great appetizers. We just order a bunch of those and feast. That's what we did here! We started with some raw oysters. They were very nice indeed. Island Creek Oysters from Duxbury MA. is where they came from. We love the little local Junts a lot and had them all over the northeast while we were there. We also had Crab Rangoon Dip. Very good, lots of fresh lump crabmeat, with a house chili crisp, scallions, and wonton chips. Loved it! They we had some fantastic mussels to close the deal! The flavor was amazing! I wish I could have them every single day! We also had a bowl of BPH Clam Chowder. CC is one of my favorite things and this place did not disappoint in any way! Delicious!! The server was great. She took great care and made our last night in Boston an unforgettable experience. If you are near, you should go right now! Why aren't you there yet? '26 - 108

Not only did she not kick us out, she proceeded to help him understand how a bloody mary should be constructed. She might have thought he was special. Stern, but fair.

We visited here with a reservation time for 9PM on a Sunday evening, after a concert nearby…read more Arriving in the area, we didn't know what to expect, so from the outside, we thought our rideshare dropped us off in a neighborhood, but this place is down some stairs in a rowhouse - very cozy! Walking in, it's cute, nicely decorated, and cozy! We were quickly greeted and then sat. We were there for my birthday and when our server walked up, she had two glasses of bubbles, which was a very nice surprise and wish me a happy birthday! The menu is loaded with many appetizing options and the food we saw on nearby tables helped us confirm that they know what they're doing in the kitchen here! We started by splitting a bowl of clam chowder. Our server had this brought out in two bowls, even though it was a split and it looked fantastic! The first taste was great! I loved the essence of bacon and smokiness in that spoonful. The potato's texture was great, soft, and not over-cooked, but loaded with flavor! The thickness of the chowder's soup was exactly what I expect from a traditional New England Clam Chowder. Definitely one I enjoyed! Next up was the swordfish for my wife and the pappardelle for me. Both looked amazing when they came out. Wife said her swordfish was one of the best she's ever had. It surely looked outstanding! My pasta was incredible! A very rich bolognese, which was clearly stewed down and was amazing! The whipped ricotta on top when mixed in helped make it creamy too - definitely amazing!! I was stuffed from what we enjoyed so we couldn't stay for dessert, but we did love everything we had. Service was great and friendly too. Definitely would return!

My wife and I took our son and youngest daughter out for a great meal in a new place. Several…read morefriends referred me to 1928 despite some negative reviews appearing on Yelp. We had a 7:15 reservation on a Friday night. We arrived at 7:05, and the restaurant was FULL. The hostess greeted us and told us our table was being prepared. I am happy to say we were seated on time at a beautiful table for 4. The decor and atmosphere were really beautiful. It had a strong neighborhood feel that is remarkably unique. Our server introduced herself and took our drink order. My wife had a tropical Negroni, and I ordered a Vieux Carré. The drinks were generously sized and well made. We ordered our meals. We started with Burrata Toast and Oysters Rockefeller. The oysters were placed on a covered plate to contain the smoke. The presentation was only eclipsed by the oysters' flavor. The burrata toast was large enough to share between the four of us. The presentation was also beautiful, and the flavors were superb. Our entrees included: herb-crusted halibut, steak frites, the signature 1928 burger, and a gorgeous short rib with some fabulous crispy Brussels sprouts. We shared a single Sticky coffee pudding for dessert. All I can say is that the food and libations were superb, and the service was superb. It is not inexpensive, but no more so than any upscale restaurant in Boston. I would take the few recent negative reviews with a grain of salt. I have spent more and received less at a couple of spots in Boston. We will certainly return to 1928. I would love to try eating at the bar on our next visit.

The steak frites were genuinely the best restaurant food I've ever had, and our server, Rob, really had it down! He's friendly, he's funny, and we got in and out in 45 minutes.

I ordered a draft beer from a large selection of drafts and bottle, cans options. It was Jack Abbey beer... pint came 3/4 full as left a large head on beer and better for establishment pours 12-14 oz in a 16 oz glass.. Beer was warm... bad demerit again Ordered steak tips which came with three large tips on a bed of mashed potatoes, spinach . It had some sour hot nasty pepper garnish.. I wanted roasted red or green peppers with the tips instead. Steak tips were just ok and needed a marinate or side of a dipping bbq sauce or mushroom sauce or anything. Spinach, mashed potatoes needed more butter or garlic flavoring... fresh tasting but bland. Needs more steak tips too for the price tag. It was a nice bar vibe for drinks. The chicken wing lollipops I saw for an appetizer looked tasty. I left hungry for more steak tips and wanted a charcoal char on my tips . I wanted my spinach on the side with a garlic oil next to sone grilled oil drizzled roasted peppers . I don't consider these some of Boston best but certainly not the worst .
