I heard this place was good years ago, my wife hadn't been there in about 8 years so we tried it out. It was honestly horrible. I got the pier special, the breading was gritty, crab cake and seafood cake were a weird mushy mixture, they both seemed frozen and coming apart from the breading, fried oysters tasted disgusting, the lobster tail was so over cooked because it was 2 ounces lol, shrimp and the chips were good. Apps and soup were not good. I'm pretty disappointed. If you've eaten good seafood, cooked well from anywhere else you won't be happy wasting your money here. This is definitely a locals spot and that's how it stays in business I'm sure. No offense to Bristol but it's a low income area and this is budget seafood. read more

Food quality has diminished in the last year. Fried soft shell crab in my takeout order was crumbled and the crab was non-existent. The stuffing in my stuffed shrimp tasted like mashed potatoes with little crab meat. Fried shrimp was not too bad. Grilled salmon was a small portion and overall the food was overpriced. read more

Lots more shrimp than I expected. Coleslaw is so so, don't think they make it. Condiments were cold fresh from the fridge so that made me more comfortable. Fantastic! Came here with a friend for an early dinner today. Between the two of us we had the garlic mussels appetizer, barnacle bread with Parmesan cheese, soft shell crab sandwich, crab cake sandwich, and broiled stuffed shrimp. It was amazing! So delicious and the lady serving us was as pleasant as can be despite some other very rude customers giving her a hard time! Under the Pier fly's under the radar. If you were driving down Route 13 I'm sure most people would just pass by and not even give this place a second look. Big mistake! On a rainy Friday night I headed over to this small family owned seafood restaurant. As the reviews stated the place is not impressive from the inside or outside. When you walk in the front door the kitchen is to your right and they have a large display case filled with a plethora of breaded fish. The lobster tank is right near the front door but it was not impressive. We were seated quickly and there was only one open table after we were seated. Soon after we sat down our server brought over (3) small bowls of tartar, cocktail & horseradish. The tables were covered with a large piece of brown paper. Not only does this place have wood paneling on the walls and fake wood on the tables.... They have actually plywood on one of the walls. The tables are supported by one large pedestal that is rapped in rope. The lights were made from what looked like wooden steering wheels off of a boat. Most people would be turned off by a small, poorly decorated restaurant. I'm the complete opposite. This type of dive usually turns out good food and I was excited to order. I ordered clams on the half shell and they were only $6. They came out quick and were very tasty. For the main course my friend ordered the broiled stuffed flounder. She was the one that suggested we try this place and the flounder was one of her favorites. I think it was around $14. I ordered one of the combos because I wanted to sample a few different things. My meal came with (1) crab cake, (1) cod cake, a large piece of fried flounder, (2) fried oysters & (2) fried shrimp. Both the crab and cod cakes were very very good! I could have eaten a few more. The rest of the platter was your normal fried seafood and just a hair above average in my opinion. You can deep fry anything and make it taste good. The stuffed flounder is the way to go. Their stuffing was the highlight of my night! Having the flounder broiled left the fish light and full of flavor. During the meal we downed a pitcher and it was reasonable at $8. Our entire meal came to $40 and I think it was a bargain. I will be stopping by Under the Pier again with some friends. read more

We ordered to meals with shrimp to pick up. I specifically asked for cocktail sauce which I shouldn't have had to , but did. When we got the meals I had one tiny cocktail sauce enough for 2 shrimp. When I called to complain they offered no remedy. The food is not cheap there. They should include whatever condiments needed. In fact lemon should have also been included. Good food low key spot. This is a true mom and pop joint. Food is good and fresh, if you come here don't be in a rush it's good food not fast food. I had the crab bisque and steam clams all perfect the folks that joined me had the crab and mussels and there going to town on them so I'm under the impression that it's good. The only reason why the 3 stars is due to the place needs a lift of carácter and a bit of cleaning up. I sat down and there were cracker that were on the table to share we're open by a previous customer which is wired that they did not catch that when they changed the table, also the horse radish has been setting here from the previous table not changed out as well. Not a lot of places carry it....so I had a few. I'm a Philly transplant, & this joint reminds me of the old Bluepoint crabhouse on Harbison Ave....just an old-school seafood place, where you can get a decent meal & an adult beverage if you so choose. The only thing I didn't care for were the fried oysters....a wee bit chewy, so probably frozen. But everything else I ordered was on point, & my wife & I will be back. I like crabs. A lot. As a result, I don't give a crap about things like décor and presentation. As long as the food is awesome, the service doesn't suck, and the place is clean, the restaurant can look like the lobby of a 1970's doctor's office. What I'm trying to say here is that Under the Pier is not much to look at. They serve your food in Styrofoam dishes that they throw out when you're done. Entrees come out on trays lined with waxed paper for quick clean up. And it's freaking delicious. My family took me here one night. The crab legs I got were awesome, some of the best I've ever had. Everything my family ordered they loved. I tried some of my sister's lobster tail; it was good, but I wouldn't order it. It wasn't really seasoned or anything, just cooked and served with butter. I haven't eaten straight lobster in 15 years though, so I can't accurately say if it wasn't good or if I'm just not a fan of lobster. Anyway, this place rocks. Lots of locals, older waitresses who call you hon, and merch for sale, including watches! It's not fancy and you shouldn't be either. Bring cash; this place doesn't take cards. I had been craving seafood a while and they knocked it out of the park for me with delicious raw oysters and their Pier Special: lobster tail, crab cake, clam cake, fried oyster, 2 fried shrimp, chips and slaw. They had non-fried items on the menu too but for tonight it was fried fried fried. Despite that, nothing was greasy. I think I liked the shrimp best. Do NOT judge a book by its cover! This place is a dive on the outside and in, but don't get turned off by it. Its clean, but its painfully obvious the place needs a much needed facelift. However, the food is dirt cheap and fantastic. The broiled stuffed shrimp is some of the best I've had anywhere, and the crab cakes are the perfect combination of crabmeat and filler. Both dishes are under $9. They also have a pound of Alaskan King Crab Legs with a side of Sea Chips and coleslaw for $23. Yup, $23 for a full pound, not a half pound found elsewhere at the local chain seafood restaurants. (You know who you are) My only regret was walking in this place a decade ago, being turned off by the look of the place, and walking right back out. I wish I would have given it a chance. This way I wouldn't have missed out on a decade of excellent seafood at cheap prices. I'd eat here 3 times a week if I could. I try to get here at least once a week now. Oh, bring cash. Absolutely the WORST experience. I brought my boyfriend here for his birthday. We ordered drinks and soup and we're ignored for twenty minutes. We literally had to stop our server to let her know we ready, which took her another ten minutes to come back. It was at this point we learned she never entered our soup, and the table who sat after us was eating their soup and appetizer. Fast forward twenty more minutes, we are still without our soup and appetizers. Finally we ask to speak to a manager who admits she forgot to drop or cook our appetizers and dismisses the fact we never got our soup. She goes as far as to catch an attitude asking what more she can do then apologize. At this point we walked out, completely disgusted and hungry after sitting for an hour. read more

Another Friday night without an idea of where to dine, followed by a quick Yelp search lead to dinner at Under the Pier in Levittown. We weren't crazy for the Shrimp King when we went there a few years ago, and wanted seafood, so I called ahead to check on seating, and they advised we come in after 8 PM. That turned out to be good advice as the place was still 75% full when we got there at 8:30. If the place were an actual shack, you'd be able to see a picture of it in the dictionary under "fish shack". Wobbly tables and cheap nautical themes abound, but it wasn't nearly as cheesy as a Joe's Crab Shack, so don't panic. There were just two servers working, but the place is fairly small and they were hustling their butts off getting the orders in and out. We felt a little pressured to get our order in, but it looked to me that a lot of the people eating there didn't even use the menu in the first place and knew what they wanted before sitting themselves down. We started with New England clam chowder, which was decent and not the thick floury glop that's a real turnoff for me. I like to pretend I'm a harsh judge of clam chowder, and it could have used some bacon and I'm never happy with the amount of clams I get. I ordered fried scallops, which were tender and not over cooked and some pretty good onion rings. My wife ordered a platter with a small lobster tail, a fried crab cake, one fried oyster, a fried clam cake and 2 fried butterflied shrimp. She enjoyed the crab cake, and she really liked the clam cake (I'm not a fan of crab or clam cakes in general). She was too full to eat the shrimps, so I ate them for her and found them to be too bready in the batter. Same thing with the fried oyster. They also filled up a good portion of the place with their "Sea Chips" which were just French Fried potato slices. If they hadn't put them on the plate, it would have been pretty sparse looking, which is often the case when ordering scallops or oysters in a restaurant. We'll likely go back because the place was lively, the waitresses were nice (when they weren't careening thru the place), the food was inexpensive and they also served cocktails (a nice surprise!). However, I'll steer away from the fried foods and go for broiled, or, as I saw many others doing, go right after the oysters on the half shell. There were a lot of other plates that looked like they'd have been better choices than the ones we made. Been wanted to try this place forever, what a disappointment. The food was very good but it took us an hour just to get our entrée. The service was Just awful. And eventually when I did get my entrée it was ice cold, the waitress said the cooks were slow. I think she just did not get it when it was ready. You don't serve cold lobster people. I do think they need to find some people who know how to waitress. Took us 20 minutes just to get a check. Then when we get to the cash register it's cash only, they don't even tell you they don't take debit cards. I will never go there to eat again. read more

If you've got a craving for quality seafood, Under the Pier is the place to go. A small shack located on Rt. 13 is just a short drive for anyone in the Bristol/Levittown area. I stop in about twice a month with family as it is a great place to relax and enjoy seafood favorites without the cheesy chain restaurant feel. Staff is friendly and accommodating. They serve beer and cocktails which is always a plus in addition to two or three daily meal specials. Most meals come the way you like it (fried, grilled or broiled). I prefer broiled, and I've never had a bad meal. My grandfather loves everything fried and the man always leaves with a clean plate. The kitchen staff does a great job. No bells and whistles here. Four stars overall. Could be five if they had a bit more variety of fish served daily and fixed the wobbly tables. Otherwise, I always enjoy my meal. Don't expect a 5-star dining experience. Every now and then I get a craving for the mussels with garlic butter and broiled shrimp that just won't go away... I love this place. My husband and I eat here a few times a year and we always enjoy the good food and friendly service. We recently discovered that pretty much any platter on the regular menu can be turned into a kids meal, which was awesome, because it meant that our daughter could eat some delicious broiled cod, rather than be relegated to the burger, fried chicken tenders or other non-quality seafood items that make up most other kid's meal menus. The other night we we were thinking about expanding our horizon of local favorites, while considering a good seafood restaurant other than the standard Bonefish or Red Lobster, Under the Pier came to mind. Of course we checked reviews in Yelp as part of our selection process - typically 4 stars shouting out good food, reasonable prices,not fancy, and oh - they only take cash. Off we went to visit Under the Pier. It's small, unpretentious, and family-owned and run. Craft paper on bare wood tables, wooden chairs, and knick-knacks and memorabilia right out of maritime Maine or Glouster. MA. The wait staff was warm and friendly. There were four of us. My buddy chose the Manhattan Clam Chowder. clam-laden with veggies and a comfortable level of spice and seasoning. My New England Clam Chowder as thick and creamy with so many clams, you almost couldn't find the potatoes. He followed up with six large shrimp stuffed with crab meet and served with thinly sliced , fried "sea chips" and cole slaw, I had the shrimp in garlic sauce, six large shrimp in a sea of garlic and butter which when the shrimp were gone, I sopped up with saltine crackers. My wife had the crab cake, served again with sea chips and cole slaw. My buddy's wife enjoyed the salmon plate. Honestly good food and lots of it, prepared well in traditional downeast fashion, at a reasonable price, and friendly attentive staff. Who needs a fancy environment when the food is good, plentiful, and reasonably priced. We got a new favorite place. read more

The place is minimalist, the rent on Rt 13 must be near 0. The tables and chairs are shoddy, to the point of almost being uncomfortable (and if it's bad enough that I'm writing about it it's bad). Also, the place takes cash only. But the owner has a sense of humor and quirky style to sort of make up for it. The prices though, can't be beat, and the quality is solid-average to slightly above average, and it seems fresh. The breaded batter on some stuff is just not the best, but if you get something broiled it is above average quality, and again the prices are exceptional, especially on a few of the combos. This place is straight out of the 1950's. Although they call themselves a seafood restaurant, their menu is limited to mostly fried or broiled shellfish. They also have flounder, obviously (did I mention 1950?) and a couple of other fish dishes, all equally unappealing. They do not offer any kind of modern seafood dish so if you are looking for blackened tuna or anything else that doesn't taste like melted butter then you are out of luck. Fortunately they also don't have sushi (and if you saw the inside of the place you would understand my relief). This place made its name during Levittown's heyday and hasn't changed since. This place is very easy to miss as where it is located on Route 13. Plus the parking is very limited. But, the food is good and the people are friendly. Their prices are pretty good for what you get. They pretty much have every kind of seafood. There are combo plates that have a little bit of everything. They have fried, baked and steamed. They have many different types of seafood soups. They are very good. They have many sides, corn on the cob, onion rings, hush puppies, potatoes, sea chips which are like sliced potatoes they fry and are so yummy. They do have alcohol. So you can enjoy a mixed drink with dinner. One word that comes to mind here though is small. They are not a huge place and the tables have paper on top of them. But as everyone knows, that place that looks like a dive, has the best food. read more
