Huge order of nachos

The five four was on our list for a bit and the outdoor seating made it a possible option for our lunch during the COVID crisis. High tops as well as tables scattered about the patio area adorned with umbrellas to protect from the hot August sun. The staff was eager to please and our glasses were full at all times. Our food was served hot and promptly. Today's choices were chicken nachos that were large enough for a few, served on a pizza tray with salsa and sour cream on the sides. He opted for the pork sandwich with fries - tasty but nothing extraordinary - traditional bar food with slightly higher prices than others but enjoyable and worthy of a trip back.

We live nearby and frequently go to The Five Four. They have about 8 tables outside where we typically sit as we are able to bring our dog. One of us usually pops in and let's them know we are outside (and we just order drinks then as well). They offer a good selection of beer and food. They always offer a bowl of water for our pup. They have pool tables inside, plenty of seating and typically have bands on the weekend and lots of tvs for watching sports. The beer is always cold. Everything I have ordered to eat is good. I really like the BLT. My most recent trip, I tried the Buffalo chicken tender wrap (team blue cheese so I switched out the ranch) and it so good. May be my new go to. It is served with pickles and fries. The fries are crispy and the pickles are really good.

Our first time here. We were not disappointed the food was amazing!! The fries were cooked perfectly and the burger was seasoned so good. Our waitress was fantastic too. We will definitely be back. Love the laid back atmosphere too. Definitely come here have some drinks and order food.

John and I were in the mood for a good burger and scanned the yelp reviews for a few local places - then decided on the Five Four. We arrived around 7pm on a Friday, and the place was crowded with folks working on wings. Desiring a booth, we seated ourselves in the only available ones remaining - on the far side of the pool tables. John ordered a plain burger with lettuce and tomato and I opted for a "Black and Bleu," which came with bacon and bleu cheese. Both plates came with fries. I wasn't drinking alcohol this evening, but noticed that there was a good choice of craft beers on tap and in bottles. Our burgers arrived. They were a generous size, on good quality rolls, however, I found the bacon and bleu topping a bit underwhelming. I could barely taste it. The burger itself was a bit on the greasy side and did not have a noticeable char on the outside. The fries started out crispy and hot. Unfortunately for us, we had some incredible bad timing on a cold night. About 10 feet from where we were seated, there was a back door/emergency door. Just as soon as our food arrived, a couple of musicians who were slated to play that evening began bringing their instruments and sound system into the restaurant, occasionally leaving the door open for minutes at a time. This door opened and closed at least a dozen and a half times, admitting a frigid blast each time. Within minutes, our fries were ice cold and the burgers became only lukewarm as we ate them - not helped by the cold lettuce and tomato on top of the meat. We, too, were chilled by unexpected polar wind. So, this was a rather uncomfortable dining experience. Just as we finished our meal, so did the musicians with their unloading. All we could do was chuckle at the timing! We realize that our less than enjoyable experience was an anomaly due to circumstances. Had we known that the disruption was going to be prolonged, we would have changed or seats. The Four Five is indeed a nice, clean, establishment with attractive and otherwise comfortable seating - and the service was absolutely fine. We'll have to give this one another try - and keep that door in mind if it is a cold night on a live music evening :)

The Five Four Bar & Grill takes its moniker from the local zip code for this part of Levittown, Pa. It is a fairly new house with large rooms for the bar, dining and even two pool tables for those so inclined. Friday and Saturday nights starting around 9:30 local bands rock the casbah. The crowd is a mix of ages and interests, but have found a neighborhood spot where everyone is welcome, the drinks are not expensive, and the kitchen turns out reasonable good bar food and a few higher end dinner specials. It is a non-smoking establishment. We sat in a booth near the green felt tables, a little distance from the bar, but close by the stage. We didn't mind when the pool cues invaded our space. We just moved the beer bottles and pint glasses to the other side. Sharing is caring. The Labatt Blue Draft was cold and refreshing, and the Coney Island Orange Vanilla Cider tasted like Brooklyn summer on the beach. The prices from the multi-paged beer list were surprisingly low, especially after patronizing some other bars up county. Dinner consisted of a Burger, Chicken Tender Wrap and Chicken Parm Sandwich. All came with crisped French Fries. They were all good, if not outstanding. The Plain Burger with Cheese, Lettuce, Onion and Tomato was on a decent fresh roll, and came out slightly beyond the Medium requested. Still good, but not memorable. The Wrap disappeared quietly without complaint, and my Parmesan was also tasty on another good roll and enough red gravy. None of these dishes were large, but given the price range, were more than enough for a light bite. Service was very friendly and prompt. We were satisfied, but did not understand why silverware was not provided for the meals without request. No biggie, but seemed odd. Unfortunately, we had to depart before the band came on, but Five Four is worth a return visit later on a weekend evening to catch the show.

I wish the bartenders were trained to pour a Guinness considering it's an "Irish bar".

Unfortunately the planned food truck had an issue so food was limited. You can bring your own food, door dash or order delivery as options as well. Bar service was great and you can order in online and have it brought to the table. They have a lot of in-house brewed beer options. I was also surprised to see so many unique mocktails. If you headed over on a night with trivia arrive early. The parking lot is small and once it fills up there isn't anywhere else to park. They do offer a significant discount on your first drink if you uber over because of this issue which is a nice spin.

Spacious interior with plenty of tables as well as seats at the bar. We sat at the bar, and the bartender (Chrissy) was super friendly and also a fellow teacher! The beer was good with one standout - the Kalapa which is a coconut milk stout on nitro which was absolutely delicious. I'm a big fan of German beers and Germany in general, so it was also nice to see they had quite a few German style beers on tap as well. We live an hour away so I can't say we'll be back anytime soon, but it was a very nice place to spend a few hours and can definitely recommend it to other beer lovers.

I walked into Broad Street Brewing several weeks ago to check out the scene and grab some take-out…read morebeer after a visit to Sal's. I was disappointed to see they only had two of their flagship beers for takeout (Hey Yo NE IPA and Independence Lager) and no crowler canning machine for their tap list. They will fill your personal growler and the prices for their 16oz four packs were fair. $10 for their lager and $14 for their Hey Yo NE IPA. There are a lot of other breweries charging much higher prices and/or you're paying a flat amount for beers no matter what the style (which is ridiculous) .... I can understand a higher retail if it's a limited release or higher end brew. I made it a point to return and sit down inside the brewery to take it all in. My life plans landed me there on a Sunday, unfortunately Sal's next door is closed on Sundays, so a food truck parked outside or Durham Deli across the street had to do. The layout on the inside is inviting: picnic tables or bar seating are your options. They have board games to test your mind or keep your kids occupied and there were several TV's playing NFL games. The bartender was nice and a good conversation. He was very into their beers and gave great insight into: when they were tapped, what was coming down the pike and info/ingredients of current tapped brews. I didn't see much in the way of a menu with descriptions of each beer, but then again I didn't ask. I just looked at the tap list on their menu boards which noted the tap number (16 total), name of the beer, style, abv, price and the ounces of the pour. In my opinion the variety of beer styles they had would give any beer drinker several options to try. I sampled a few different styles: Belgian IPA 7%, Winter Warmer 9.4% and their American Pilsner 5.8%. I found them to be average to slightly above average and served in proper glassware. You can get flights, a single 5oz pour or in a glass that ranged from 10-20 ounce pours. The prices were between $5-$7 for a 10-20 oz. pour. The to-go cooler had four of their brews this time and also a second cooler had local Jericho Mountain Beef. You can buy several different styles of vacuum sealed meats that looked delicious. They also serve wine, seltzers and non-alcoholic beverages. The bathrooms were pretty big and clean. They welcomed a pretty big family with several kids so I'd say your safe to bring the fam!! I'm a fan of Broad Street Brewing, I think their prices are more than fair, the staff was nice, their beers are average to above average and true to the style (from what I've tried) and the building itself was clean, open and inviting. I enjoyed my experience there and will return (preferably during Sal's business hours!). Thanks guys!
