Newtown Brewery gave us an easy, enjoyable Friday night. The place was filled with music, conversation, and a friendly crowd. The whole space felt relaxed and positive. Live music began around 6:00 PM, adding to the energy. You see groups of all ages enjoying themselves, and it feels like a spot where everyone fits. El Toro Serrano was parked outside with Southern and Mexican food. We came in from Phoenix, AZ, and the food was great. The grilled veggie bowl, the carne asada quesadilla, and the tomatillo salsa were all strong choices. Everything paired well with the beers, ciders, and other drinks on tap. The bartenders remained warm and attentive, and the regulars were quick to include you in their conversations. You feel welcome whether you live nearby or you are visiting. If I lived closer, I would leave with a few cans or a growler. This is a solid place to relax, enjoy good food, and try quality drinks. read more

If you don't mind paying $23 for a four pack of local suds, Newtown Brewery is a worthwhile destination for the yeast heads in the crowd. The facility is very attractive with plenty of wood and stone, and the beer is excellent for the most part. We stopped in last weekend and the room was hopping. Tables full of folks escaping Covid captivity. But, we weren't ready for a space packed with over a hundred people without masks, nor social separation, so we bought our "I lost My Marbles" Belgian Tripel four can and headed home. Just didn't feel safe (and thus the one star deduction for lack of public awareness by management). Under better circumstances, Newtown Brewing would be a big hit in these parts, and in fact, it appears it already is. The beer was quite strong at 11% alcohol content, but the taste was great, and the color a robust rusty slurry. Liked it a lot. I'm no expert, but these guys seem to have the right recipes. They do have a food truck in the parking lot most weekends, and we were fortunate to approach the window of Stuff'd Bunns and grab two sliders to partake with the ale at home. They were great and a perfect partner to the cold fermentation. More on them in a separate review coming soon to these Yelp pages. I hate to have to take out a loan to support my occasional beer addiction, but aside from that, and the insensitivity to the CDC guidelines, Newtown Brewery really enhances the neighborhood. Stopped by on a Saturday evening to try out the new Newtown Brewing. Within the nine or so beers they had on tap, there was a pretty good variety. We had to flights (of four) to try the ones that looked good. We enjoyed the white IPA, witbeer, NE IPA, and the lemon basil saison a lot! We also tried the cider, pale ale, and blonde, which were also good. There's an imperial IPA and a kolsch on deck, which I'd love to go back and try. There's table seating, bar seating, bar standing, and even a back room for parties (which was open to the public as there were no parties today). There were some kids running around by the bar on a Saturday night, which was strange. Otherwise, a great place to grab a brew. I'm sure we'll be back again after they rotate a few more. read more

Great place to take the kids... Is never what you want to hear about your local brewery. I am one of those "beer guys." I never dropped a beach chair at Tired Hands, but I did stand on their line... when that was still a thing. We met some friends at Newtown Brewing tonight with a craving for a solid local brewery scene in Newtown. Our kids are now (barely) old enough to afford us the luxury of an adult night out. Yet I found it challenging to navigate the 7 little kids running around the property before I could even find my way to a parking spot. Mind still open, I entered Newtown Brewing. The space was fantastic. Well appointed, visually inviting, the kind of place where I'd want to come to drink good beer. The friends we were meeting had already grabbed a table despite a busy evening. With no food offered, I was hopeful the beer would be up to the task. For the most part, it was. I don't imagine anticipated can releases any time soon, but the beer was solid. The Lemon Basil Saison could have been gimmicky, but I found it crisp and flavorful. I'd order it again. Even with my "milkshake / juice" taste buds checked at the door and recollections of what a unique IPA could taste like, I couldn't come around on the White IPA. But the Blonde Ale was a very respectable sample of the style, and for me, the Chocolate Coffee Breakfast Stout (Nitro) Stout was the star of the evening, worthy of the full pour I ordered. I could see myself stopping in for a quick growler fill of this well crafted stout. Request to ownership: Based on what I tasted, I feel like you could craft a very fine Red Ale. But the scene was haphazard. Bonus points for one of the owners, checking in at our table to say hello. They are clearly invested, the type of commitment that makes me want to return. Unfortunately, it was followed shortly after by the TV near us being switched from the Notre Dame game to Nickelodeon to accommodate the crowd of small kids gathering around us. Kudos to the owners for entertaining the kids because their parents were too busy on their phones to do so. This doesn't need to try to be a sports bar. But some random 70's punk footage on the screen is a better vibe than Spongebob. Newtown Brewing feels like a place trying to figure out what it wants to be, which is understandable in these early days. If it aims to be a mini "Gordon Biersch" type place that fully accommodates families, then it needs a kitchen. If it aims to be a meeting place where parents can bring their kids and they happen to have some beer, then they're on point. If it aims to be a place where a beer scene thrives, I'd like to seem them build off a solid base of standard beers, be creative, and even challenge beer drinkers with more than a kiddie obstacle course in the parking lot. The beer stood strong enough on it's own that I will return, maybe at a different time to see if there's a different scene. But with the average age of those around me at about 6 1/2 for a good portion of the evening, I struggled to fully enjoy the "adult night out" at my local brewery. Happily, the beer was intriguing enough that I'll visit again. read more

Adequate parking right next to the place. A spartan, brand new brewery. We came by on a Sunday so watched some football. The place has a moderate sized bar with taps in the center. Around 12 bar stools. There was a roomy area with tables for having your beer and also a separate room with a few tables and a large screen television. Service could use some improvement. Probably my favorite local brewery. Often the beers are satisfying at local spots, but with so many breweries popping up not all locations stand out quite like Newtown Brewing. The winter beers were great, as well as the pumpkin beer. The one that sticks with me the most is the lemon basil saison. Hands down the best beer I've tried at a brewery. I've never heard of a lemon basil beer and had to try it. Highly recommend getting a glass if you go. It does get crowded inside. There is plenty of seating inside and a smaller room area for private parties which seemed to be open to everyone once the private party had left. The only thing I will say that I wasn't a huge fan of was how many kids come. I don't think parents should bring children to a brewery to begin with, but my main complaint of breweries in general is how welcome young children seem to be. Otherwise I hope Newtown Brewing is around for a long, long time! I'll definitely be back many times! read more

Such a cool addition to the Newtown industrial park. I wish the new owners lots of success. I was torn about adding a review bc I hope to see this place do well. Our group even met and spoke to one of the owners. She seemed lovely. So I hope this feedback will help. Eight of us decided to go on opening day. The energy was high. Parking was challenging. We had to park across the street and walk on the large grass lawn to the front door. It was fine in daylight but I wondered what a dark winter night would be like. I hope there are enough exterior lights. The place was packed. Apparently we were one of many with the same idea. We were lucky to get a table for eight in the back room. We packed quite a few appetizers and we were psyched to have our own little happy hour. (I like the idea of bring your own food). The 4 guys got in line (?) for beer. This is where things got uncomfortable. They stood in line for 50 minutes and they never made progress to be even close to getting waited on. There was actually no line...just a large mob of people at the bar trying to get waited on. Credit card machines were slowing down the process and just too many people for the place to handle. It was all very chaotic and unorganized. I got up to get a napkin and could not find one. I finally got paper towels from the lady's bathroom. Well...our great plan and efforts were sadly re-vamped. Sigh...we decided to leave. No beers for us. In fact there were many that left as well but still just as many were arriving. My feedback to the owners:..I highly recommend using a "deli" system of letting customers take a number to be waited on. At least you can sit down with your friends while waiting to be waited on. It will also keep things friendly among your customers. The place has a really cool modernly decorated environment. I hope to go back at some point and change my 3 stars to 5 like a previous review mentioned as well. Based on my experience I was generous with the 3 stars but it was just opening day. First time at the brewery and I was able to try every one of their beers. Excellent as I hoped they would be. Nice place in an office park with indoor/outdoor table seating as well as the bar. It's loud as you might expect and don't be shocked if you see kids and/pets. It's a pretty laid back vibe. Live music and along with their snacks, they have invited food trucks, which is great. We were here for a private event and had a great time. The beer was very good and we liked that there were some cider options as well as local wine. I enjoyed the coffee porter the best. The pumpkin ale was darker than I'm used to and light on the pumpkin spice but good. I was glad to get a flight and try a few. The interior look is great. The decor with wood trims was very nice. It's a nice spacious room so it didn't feel crowded. Lots of tvs had movies and sports playing. Maybe some music would be great. The secondary room for private parties would be great for small groups. They could add something to the exterior to make it more noticeable and inviting. It was hard to locate and identify in the business office park. I would definitely bring friends here again. read more

I headed in here on a Saturday night and was able to pick up some food at the food truck right outside the door of this brewery. Headed inside and was greeted immediately by staff and seated at one of the indoor tables. From what I saw EVERYONE was Covid compliant so not sure about other reviewers Covid complaints. Breweries by their very nature are sanitary and oft disinfected. I even observed extensive cleaning/sanitizing around the entire taproom area. The taproom is arranged very well and the atmosphere certainly says brewery. I like seeing the fermenters off to the side. Now to the beer. Great beer list with good diversity in selection. I started with the SWEEP THE LEG hazy IPA and it was exceptional. All the Citra anyone could want. 2nd beer was THE HAZE IS STRONG... and it was fantastic as well. I finished with their seasonal Gose and it was 5 of 5 as well. I could not have asked for better service. All the staff were attentive, friendly, engaged and running their asses off. Now, I get that everyone's experience at a brewery is going to be different, different staff, different beers, But to give this Brewery less than three stars is very inaccurate and really unfair to the brewery and to people who rely on these reviews to select a brewery to go to. In this case, I think the low 1 and 2 star reviews says more about the reviewer than it does about the business. IMO this brewery is a solid 4 to 4 1/2 but bumping it to a 5 to compensate for the reviewers that didn't even get to try this place out. Highly recommend Newtown Brewing. Staff is great. Beer is great. Facility is great. Covid rules followed so you are as safe here as anywhere. read more

Let me tell you sumthin...this beer is delightful. From the 70's-80's themed beer names to the actual taste of the beer, this place is fantastic. The interior is wide open and accommodating and covid precautions are being observed. They even have a box of masks if you're too selfish to bring your own. We drank the "Sweep the LegJohnny" hazy and the "What's Your Superpower" milkshake IPA, the latter being the best milkshake IPA I've ever tasted. We selected NBC to host my sisters engagement party and it was the best decision for a venue we could have made! The space is gorgeous, very little decorating required. It was a perfect size even with the Covid restrictions and allowed for our guests to space out while still enjoying each other's company! They provided a list of bands and singers they have had perform there on the weekends and we selected "Two for Flinching" and they were awesome! From the beginning of the planning process, Gregg and Dave were quick to respond to my questions, and were thorough and clear, and at the party the Dave and Justin were absolute rockstars, making sure we had everything we needed. I have recommended it to a client of the caterer we used for their upcoming event and suggest you do the same if you want to have an amazing party! Newtown Brewing was the 5th venue I researched for my event. I needed a place big enough to handle 70 ppl. I rented the entire facility for 3 hours for a couple's shower. I chose this brewery because of all the entertainment options to choose from. Many in the party like to play outdoor games. Outside there are picnic style tables with red umbrellas and an area for corn hole and anything else you can think of. Beer pong was another big hit with this crowd, could not have gotten away with this at a restaurant. Newtown Brewing employees Grace and Steph were very accommodating when we arrived. Grace let us in 1 hour early to set up and decorate. We tried to keep the cost down by allowing only beer, wine, hard setlzer and hard cider. My guests were well taken care off with their drinks. I ordered food thru Southern Farm Catering in Horsham. The food was excellent and Kirsten the owner kept in touch throughout the process of ordering the right amount of food. I highly recommend this catering service. Newtown Brewing is a reputable business. They emailed the invoice with full description of each partys responsibilities to host here. The initial deposit was 200 dollars. Final payment was due the day of the event. I cannot thank Grace and Stephanie enough offering to assist with the clean up and helping throughout the event. One of my girlfriends was so impressed with NB that she is hosting her company event here. read more

The session IPA tasted like soapy dish water, the white ipa and nitro stout were lackluster. Lemon basil saison was different, my favorite of what I tried. However I brought a growler hoping to fill it with something good but I ended up leaving with an empty growler. The beer is fantastic, so they have that going for them. I had the White IPA, the Festbier, the Session Pale Ale, and the New England IPA in a flight. The only one I didn't love was the New England IPA, it seemed to veer a bit too much toward sour for me. I'd love to give 4 stars based on the beer alone, but the service needs some serious improvement. I'm hopeful it's just opening weekend kinks that will eventually be worked out. We went in at 12:30pm on Saturday and joined the line of others waiting to order at the bar. It appeared that if you weren't sitting at he bar, you had to wait in line to be served and then take your beer to a nearby table. However, after we waited over 20 minutes in line to order, we noticed others going to the other end of the bar and being served immediately. We questioned it and were told that you can be served anywhere, you don't have to wait in line. Wouldn't that be something to mention to the 15 or so people currently waiting in line? We also got up to order and in the meantime they had switched out a keg making the printed menus no longer accurate. We ordered based on the printed menus we had in hand and then when we realized they were no longer accurate they poured out the beers we ordered. The woman behind us in line said "wouldn't it have been better for them to be like sorry, try this on us anyway and let us know what you think while we get the beer you actually want." Yes, that would have been better. Nice spot and great to have in Newtown. Staff is friendly. The beers are solid, good but not great but I'm sure that will improve as time goes on. One thing I've found and I wonder if they are aware and/or if anyone has brought it up to them, but I think the ABV they list for their beers is incorrect. And this is the second visit where I've found this to be true. Recently I ordered their double hopped Triple IPA with a listed ABV of 9.8%, I was able to have four of them and usually my limit is two on a double IPA, let alone a Triple. Something isn't right on the ABV and I'm not saying it's on purpose but they do need to take a good look at their process. Four Triples at 9.8? I should have had difficulty walking! read more

How does the beer taste here? We don't know. Showed up there yesterday at 5 o'clock. The outside was packed with people drinking and a bunch of little kids playing. Went inside and asked about a table. People not wearing masks and walk-ing inside through the door. Someone who workEd there said they could get us a table in about five minutes inside. Those were 6 feet apart but there were none open. He told us they were not licensed to serve alcohol outside. Strange, because a ton of people outside were drinking. No oversight of Covid rules outside. It was very unsafe people all over each other no masks no social distancing. No way were we going to drink there. No wonder they are so many new cases in PA. read more

We have now been three times and I feel that's a good number to offer a fair review. Our first visit was on a Friday early afternoon. Awesome. Seats at the bar, attentive service, good beer. I had a flight with all but the ipa and the stout was my favorite. Hubs enjoyed the saison and ale. Second visit was early Friday evening. Great. I did the flight again and switched to cider. Hubs stuck with their beer. Third visit was this past Saturday around 730. We came with friends. It was one and done. We couldn't believe it was the same place. Kids running everywhere. Taking up tables that I would think would go to folks drinking. We had seats at the bar, but were ignored for the first ten minutes. I love hef beer. I couldn't wait to try it. Not my favorite. More bitter than any I have ever tried. Between the service and the kids and the hef.. one and done. Four stars I think is the average of my 3 experiences. I will be a Friday afternoon patron. Too early for kids and late enough to unwind. read more
