    Sample Skyline

Aristaeus, an Ancient Greek demigod of beekeepers and vine planters (and apparently of beer fermentation), has taken up quarters in an old industrial building on Big Oak Road in Langhorne, PA. The adaptive reuse is rustic and effective, with more shaded outdoor patio seating than indoor bar and scattered tables near the stainless vats that produce some pretty tasty lagers. Son and I stopped in for a quick taste and Fathers' Day tipple, sitting at the bar for a close look at the operation and to be able to sample everything available from the multi-tapped ale pipes. Our keeper was friendly and an able hostess, allowing us to sample six variants before we settled on New England Fog for the young man, and Blackberry Summer Smash for this dude. Both made a statement; the hazy lager with a pronounced pleasant flavor and the seasonal berry a slightly sweet aftertaste that was enjoyable as it flowed down the gullet. Only real questionable aspect was the "Food Truck," from Giovanni's Pickle (not the full name, but you can find it if interested). In fact, there was no truck, but only a temporary canopy with tables of pickle jars for purchase and sampling, and a small cooler with their famous Pickle Hoagie. What's that, you ask? Well it's an Italian hoagie (ham, spiced ham, provolone, bacon & mayo on a large hollowed out dill pickle). Grab it and take a big bite. Not bad as an original approach to a sandwich, but not much to shout about after the initial thrill is gone. Overall, it was disappointing as a snack as the only choice available. It seemed our barkeep was somewhat disdainful of their effort, and after exploring the goods I understood why. There was very little "there" there. So, go for the beer, but if hungry, hope for a better food alternative. If there's no truck, you're out of luck! 3.5 STARS

Beer was good and the setting very comfortable. Wish the food truck was there but they delayed because of rain. I get it.

I would love more snack options inside the brewery itself, but this is a great hidden gem and the trivia nights are so fun!

Took a chance on the Puss n Boots Tavern this Saturday and stumbled upon a surprisingly quiet, well…read morelit and clean bar. I have always overlooked this place as a dive bar but I was genuinely surprised. As the windows allow natural light to fill the large open dining area that surrounded the bar. They appear to have a catering or events room as well as another separate dining area in addition to the main dining/bar area. While their menu is very limited to all the standard bar fare and spirits. It was served fresh. The smash burger topped with bacon jam tasted like it was fresh off a charcoal grill (in a good way) the buffalo chicken cheesesteak had a good amount of heat and the meat and cheese ratios were on point . The Buffalo bites were equally tasty and I have a strong feeling the blue cheese dip was homemade. They do offer weekly events like bingo, karaoke, quizzo. I think they may have live music events as well. Our server was friendly and kept the libations coming. All in all a big surprise for a place I have overlooked so many times. Pop in grab a drink and check them out.

Last time I was a kid all I remember was a meatball sandwich. That and the sawdust on a shuffle board table. This time, I saw the game is still there along with the bar and kitchen. A second bar area was added on. We walked through to another large dining area addition where we sat at one of many large tables. I ordered the ham and cabbage special and a side of fried pickles, and went back to the original bar for an Irish beverage. Everything was tasty. Thankfully, nobody pinched me for not wearing green. Hopefully it isn't another 40 years before my next visit!

The BBQ chicken nachos were amazing. Just the right amount of BBQ sauce and created with care. These weren't just chips with topping slapped on. Overflowing the bun. Cooked to perfection crispy and juicy. The "pretzel garlic knots" wear VERY good however they were just garlic knots with no pretzel color or flavor. Very good garlic knots and a banging cheese sauce but not pretzel like we expected. We came on a trivia night and the place filled up by the time we were ready to go. Bailey's staff is on top of things, friendly and engaging. Located across the street from Richmans ice cream and burgers just by five points in Levittown. Bailey's is a perfect place for a quick drink, a late night snack, after work meetup, lunch, dinner or a night out with friends. It's a bar that's is so much more than "bar" food.

Five Four Bar & Grill has a large U shaped bar, stage for live bands, pool tables, booth seating,…read moretable seating and an area to have a catered event in a private room. They can hold 20-500 people for private events according to their website. The inside is dark and could use a bit of a refresh, but I wouldn't say it's close to the level of dive. It's certainly on the larger side compared to most bars in the area. The staff has always been nice, but service can get slow when the crowd size grows. Just the nature of things. Food wise the menu has a typical mix of pub grub - apps, soups, salads, sandwiches, burgers and several entrees. A friend was eating their jumbo Buffalo Shrimp off the starter menu and raved about them. I stuck to a Cheesesteak which was average but a deal at $9.50 -- the chopped steak was decent, cheese was good just needed a bit more. Hot peppers gave it some kick and the long roll was fresh. Their beer menu has around a dozen beers on tap. They dabble in more mainstream big beer/craft beer like your Goose Island IPA's/Lagunitas IPA, but do have a decent show of locals like Yards, Victory, Troegs and Weyerbacher. Bourbon wise I had a Knob Creek neat which was average price wise. The pour was on the generous side. Each time I've been here the crowds have been friendly and having a good time. The band we listened to was great and the sound was crisp. Five Four is a family friendly grill during the day and a fun place for adults later at night. Thanks guys!
