I was fortunate enough to visit the Bucks County Brewery on their first weekend open for business…read more They are a production brewery with a small tasting room. located off of 611 in Pipersville, PA, about five miles north of Doylestown. Their beers are far from ordinary. I was able to try three of the beers, a RYE ale, an Irish Red Ale, and their CrabAloupe Ale. The last beer was the most interesting, a beatiful english style ale with crab apples and cantaloupe added. They also make a porter called Barley Necttar that is a porter with bourbon soaked vanilla beans that had kicked by the time I got there. The tasting room allows you to sample the beers, and take home growlers, (bring your own or they will sell you one.) They currently have no food there, but in the warmer months hope to add tables outdoors and bring in food trucks on weekends. It is so nice to have a local brewery in Central Bucks, and I look forward to trying more of the beers over time.

The husband and wife owners are very personable, and love to chat with whoever walks in the door. In the warmer months, they have food trucks and live music. If there are no food trucks, you can order from the local pizza place, and they will deliver to the brewery.

I asked the host person if I was allowed to just wander into the bar. Received the go-ahead and made my way to the bar. I did have to duck in a few places because I relatively tall guy. The building looks like a converted basement, which admittedly I love. I sat down and was instantly handed a drink menu and a warm welcome. I ordered the Nordic Tea beer and it was delicate and delicious. A few minutes later my dinner guest arrived and we sat and chatted with all the lovely folks running the joint. Particularly Summer who is a born and bred Philly girl. Mad respect for her personality, hospitality, and general energy. She was attentive, and thoughtful about what she thought was best things on the drink and food menu. We ended up taking a picture outside with the glasses and creek in the background. Made our way back inside to have some food and it did not disappoint. I had the chicken sandwich (best thing on the menu maybe), two buffalo wings, olives, and my guest had the tortellini. I nearly had to stop him from licking the plate clean. The wings come in full, and those are always better. The wings aren't fried but they don't miss out on being crispy. We chatted with who I assume was the owner and they have so many cool plans and things coming in the future. I met up with a few guys here, and it was a really nice and lively evening, yet not so loud that we couldn't hear each other and were able to have some level of conversation (yes, with some leaning in, but I've been to bars where even that doesn't facilitate communication). Lots of beer selections on tap, with a core selection on one side of the menu and a more seasonal list on the other. I got the honey porter and the Japanese lager from the seasonal set, and I thought they were both pretty solid. One of the guys ordered food from one of the food vendors down the hall (cool that they have that, btw, so you can get good food w/o the bar needing to take care of that). There was a QR code that was supposed to facilitate that, but when he placed the order on his phone, it didn't allow it for some strange reason. She informed us one of them was brand new, and all of their other beers were from the original owners. A minute later, another waitress came over and says that our server can't service alcohol because she's not of age and to give her the order. When I said one of them was one of the new beers she had no idea what I was talking about. Strange. What is most strange is that why is a server working at a brewery who can't serve alcohol? Amongst many other interesting events, they have started hosting bingo twice a month. The night we went, there were cash prizes, but regardless of prize or winners, a great time was had by all! To sweeten the deal, the staff was so pleasant, and their wine is fantastic. I did a tasting flight and was able to try 5 different wines, and there wasn't a single one that I didn't like. Many of my choices were off of their "country wines" list, including the cherry, raspberry, and red pepper and garlic. Yes, you read that correctly, red pepper and garlic WINE! Delish! I bought a bottle to bring home as it would be divine to cook with or even just sip! I also tried their Traminette and Nutty Sailor. While very different from each other, both were great, but the Traminette was my choice out of the five to sip on through the second half of Bingo. From the moment we sat down, Dee made us feel completely taken care of. She's an exceptional bartender--knowledgeable, fast, and genuinely fun to talk to. She remembered our drink preferences after the first round and even suggested a couple of off-menu twists that were spot-on. The food was excellent too. Everything that came out of the kitchen was delicious, well-seasoned, and plated with care. What really stood out, though, was how much attention Dee paid to the little things. She checked in at just the right times, noticed when we were ready for another round before we even flagged her down, and kept the whole experience smooth without ever feeling rushed or overlooked. It's rare to find someone who combines incredible drink-making skills with that level of genuine hospitality and detail-oriented service. Dee elevates the entire place. I looked around the menu seemed limited to different types of sandwiches but ok, nice snack for a late afternoon. Looked for be around $15 so normal price range. We were still waiting to beseated. There wasn't much in the way of business. maybe two people seated at the bar and two-three others at tables. Still, nobody greeted us or even so much as a 'be with you in a moment.' Kept looking around, no sign of wines made in the winery. not sure if it's still running or if it's been turned into an event venue but we were giving it every chance. The place has only limited hours to be open. It showed a limited menu and there was no way the place could have been called busy. For all the attentiveness of the staff, we didn't exist and with no one by the door I'm not sure what someone could have walked off with. Heck maybe there was a server there and she got stolen. In the end we left. Our last visit had been disappointing, but we were willing to give them another try. Against all odds this 2nd try was even more disappointing. It has limited hours and even then, the staff still can't be bothered to even say 'hello.' Save your time and give your money to a place that actually wants to greet it's customers
