    Saturday evening

Came here again for the drink specials, but it was like 5pm on St Patrick's weekend and it was already packed and too loud so unfortunately had to turn away to a quieter place today .

I've heard so many great things about this place. So in a recent trip to Bucks County, I made this a priority to have lunch here with my family. Every great thing I've heard was true. The cheesesteaks are some of the best I've had outside the city limits. My son who is particular about his cheesesteaks let out an audible MMMMM after his first bite. But on top of this, the fries are definitely higher quality than you can get at any other sports bar. The onion rings are super high quality. And my wife raved that her boneless wings were made with real juicy chicken breast. It may look like a neighborhood bar. But they take pride in their food quality. It's worth taking the drive up from Delco.

Not much to look at outside

Gleason's is easy to miss when driving down Mill Creek Road in Levittown. It appears more a small industrial shop than a tavern. But, it is worth a stop, because it is in fact a boisterous sports/dive bar with decent kitchen, loud rock music and walls covered with back & white photos of Hollywood's famous. I sat mid bar on the double horseshoe counter where I had the best view of the proceedings. Clarissa served me a 16 oz Summer Shandy on tap, and took my order for a Patty Melt (medium) to eat there and small Cheesesteak wit American & Mushrooms to go. I watched the Little League playoffs (Nevada v. Utah) as the sound system blasted songs from the '80s and '90s. The lemon accented beer was tasty, cold and refreshing. The patty melt was a hand formed burger with sautéed onions and good rye toast. It was more well done than desired, and a bit salty, but still pretty good. The chips it came with were generic. I didn't sample the cheesesteak until later that evening, but with modest reheating it was very good. Gleason's advertises itself as a hidden gem for steak sammies, and while that may be a stretch when compared to pure steak shops, it was still superior to most found in pizza parlors. So, worth a tryout if cheesesteaks are your jam. Service was strong, friendly and attractive, as were some of the customers who seem to be regulars. This is certainly worth a return visit to enjoy the whole experience every once in a while.

    Cheesesteak with wiz and onions.

This one has been on my list for awhile now. Finally decided to take the chance. My honest opinion is it's average bar food. The cheesesteak had a strange texture and maybe a peppery taste to it. Typical wiz and onions. Fries were good. Mozzarella sticks were the generic freezer type with no crunch or crisp. If I had a few shots of jack I'm sure it would've been better. Overall average.

Gleasons has the best food in Bristol Township, no doubt about it. The service is the best too, I love everyone who works there! The crowd makes for a good ambiance, and I can't name a single day of the week that I'm not comfortable going in and with friends or family. I have many photos, and they are all great.

Five Four Bar & Grill has a large U shaped bar, stage for live bands, pool tables, booth seating,…read moretable seating and an area to have a catered event in a private room. They can hold 20-500 people for private events according to their website. The inside is dark and could use a bit of a refresh, but I wouldn't say it's close to the level of dive. It's certainly on the larger side compared to most bars in the area. The staff has always been nice, but service can get slow when the crowd size grows. Just the nature of things. Food wise the menu has a typical mix of pub grub - apps, soups, salads, sandwiches, burgers and several entrees. A friend was eating their jumbo Buffalo Shrimp off the starter menu and raved about them. I stuck to a Cheesesteak which was average but a deal at $9.50 -- the chopped steak was decent, cheese was good just needed a bit more. Hot peppers gave it some kick and the long roll was fresh. Their beer menu has around a dozen beers on tap. They dabble in more mainstream big beer/craft beer like your Goose Island IPA's/Lagunitas IPA, but do have a decent show of locals like Yards, Victory, Troegs and Weyerbacher. Bourbon wise I had a Knob Creek neat which was average price wise. The pour was on the generous side. Each time I've been here the crowds have been friendly and having a good time. The band we listened to was great and the sound was crisp. Five Four is a family friendly grill during the day and a fun place for adults later at night. Thanks guys!

A couple weeks ago she had the nerve to comment on my face in front of the entire table. She claimed that I "always give her dirty looks" and "always look so angry when I'm here". I was stunned and so embarrassed. For one, I don't know her personally, we have never had a conversation outside of her taking my order and quite frankly it's none of her business how my face looks anyway. Second of all how embarrassing is it to be called out in front of a bunch of people like that? I couldn't believe the words that came out of her mouth. Before I left I politely told her I didn't appreciate her calling me out like that and she got very defensive. Not an apology from her, she didn't care one bit. She started arguing with me and acting like I was overreacting and like she didn't do anything wrong. She should take a look at herself in the mirror and think twice before she speaks. I'll never step foot into this bar again.

I walked into Broad Street Brewing several weeks ago to check out the scene and grab some take-out…read morebeer after a visit to Sal's. I was disappointed to see they only had two of their flagship beers for takeout (Hey Yo NE IPA and Independence Lager) and no crowler canning machine for their tap list. They will fill your personal growler and the prices for their 16oz four packs were fair. $10 for their lager and $14 for their Hey Yo NE IPA. There are a lot of other breweries charging much higher prices and/or you're paying a flat amount for beers no matter what the style (which is ridiculous) .... I can understand a higher retail if it's a limited release or higher end brew. I made it a point to return and sit down inside the brewery to take it all in. My life plans landed me there on a Sunday, unfortunately Sal's next door is closed on Sundays, so a food truck parked outside or Durham Deli across the street had to do. The layout on the inside is inviting: picnic tables or bar seating are your options. They have board games to test your mind or keep your kids occupied and there were several TV's playing NFL games. The bartender was nice and a good conversation. He was very into their beers and gave great insight into: when they were tapped, what was coming down the pike and info/ingredients of current tapped brews. I didn't see much in the way of a menu with descriptions of each beer, but then again I didn't ask. I just looked at the tap list on their menu boards which noted the tap number (16 total), name of the beer, style, abv, price and the ounces of the pour. In my opinion the variety of beer styles they had would give any beer drinker several options to try. I sampled a few different styles: Belgian IPA 7%, Winter Warmer 9.4% and their American Pilsner 5.8%. I found them to be average to slightly above average and served in proper glassware. You can get flights, a single 5oz pour or in a glass that ranged from 10-20 ounce pours. The prices were between $5-$7 for a 10-20 oz. pour. The to-go cooler had four of their brews this time and also a second cooler had local Jericho Mountain Beef. You can buy several different styles of vacuum sealed meats that looked delicious. They also serve wine, seltzers and non-alcoholic beverages. The bathrooms were pretty big and clean. They welcomed a pretty big family with several kids so I'd say your safe to bring the fam!! I'm a fan of Broad Street Brewing, I think their prices are more than fair, the staff was nice, their beers are average to above average and true to the style (from what I've tried) and the building itself was clean, open and inviting. I enjoyed my experience there and will return (preferably during Sal's business hours!). Thanks guys!
