The car show brought us to Bristol and we had to walk Mill St. We haven't been down here for quite awhile and although Cindy's and Loretta's have long since closed their doors New places are popping up to compete with Itri and Naked Brewing. Drift caught our eye and WOW I'm glad it did. With Brunch offerings every Sunday along with live music and endless pastas on Wednesday nights. Drift is raising the bar and is an entire vibe on Mill St. A handful of tables by the bar and a separate dining room or outdoor seating - all unique in their own way and each offer a different feel in the restaurant. Our server was a delight. So excited to tell us all about the place and answer questions along the way. She kept our glasses full all the while tending bar and other tables. The vodka chicken sandwich was well done, tasty and crisp dredged in a thick vodka sauce and adorned with cheese. It did come with tomato but it was a little odd like it just didn't belong. I just added it to my generous side salad (an option instead of fries). This salad was packed full of fresh greens, cukes & tomatoes with a most delightful dressing. His French dip was full of flavor with tender med rare beef delicately sliced thin and high. The au jus that accompanied it was a nice compliment to the sandwich. We sat in a comfy booth with a view of the bar TVs and close enough to enjoy the live musician. A perfect place to grab a quick lunch and we will definitely be back! read more

I have been eyeing Drift since my partner and I dined at Itri (which is across the street) this summer. I finally made a reservation for 4:30 pm on Saturday. We arrived and were greeted and seated promptly. Our server asked if we had chosen our drinks. I went with the Mele Kalikimaka (Christmas Vacation reference) and he decided to go with the smoked old fashioned. We went with the Mexican corn ribs for our appetizer. I must say this place clearly has "mixologists" bc the drinks were FANTASTIC! Our appetizer arrived maybe 10 mins after our drinks. The corn ribs were tasty. I liked the cojita cheese that was paired with the aioli and other spices. For entrees we decided to try the beef tips with risotto and steak frites. The wait time was 20 ish minutes, but still not too long. Our entrees arrived. The beef tips arrived "shredded." I was surprised bc I expected actual beef tips (pieces). However, the beef was sweet, savory and delicious. The risotto was okay. My partner let me try his steak and I lived the chimichurri sauce. It wasn't the standard chimichurri. This sauce was a little more savory. My partner was so focused on his steak that he didn't try his "frites," but I did. I was pleasantly surprised to find that the frites were truffle frites instead of regular frites. Needless to say, I enjoyed them nonetheless. Although, I was full from my entree, I opted to try the Nutella stuffed churros. Well, let's just say they arrived hot and were the perfect ending to our meal. The churros reminded me of fried Oreos and I live for fried Oreos. Our first meal at Drift was fantastic. We can't wait to return. read more

chose this place for me and my boyfriend looking for a nice date night out. we like oysters & martinis, the menu seemed to check the boxes for us. we walked in around 815 on a Sunday. we knew they closed at 9 & we're not planning to overstay. our server was kind & made our cocktails too, Leanna is her name i think. toasted marshmallow espresso martini & lychee cocktail was good! ambiance is ok, we were seated on the bar side. servers wear tshirts, this place is nothing high end or fine dining at all & we were under the assumption that it was semi fine dining just from the menu. allllll was well - until the food. ceasar & buffalo shrimp were good, nothing special. i got the vodka bolognese rigatoni, it was not great but i still ate it, just nothing special. my boyfriend orders steak frites, comes w truffle fries! she asks the temp, he says medium rare. the steak comes out, it is cooked well done! really badly overcooked. the truffle fries just aren't truffle at all, my boyfriend smells a piece of the steak and we were fully convinced it was pork or turkey at a point. our server takes it to be recooked and it takes 20 minutes for a "medium rare steak" :/ we kind of lost hope after 10 minutes. it comes out again at pretty much the same temperature & we just kindly decline. short overview: nice bar/local restaurant with good cocktails. i don't recommend this place for food at all!!!!! go for dinner anywhere else, i heard the place across the street might be better? that menu is promising but they're delivering 1 star results. i missed the oysters, they were out by time i got there. read more

Although it was not a huge menu, it had a good variety and we enjoyed our drinks. The only thing I would say is that there was not much of an ambiance or chatty bartender vibe going. It looked like a few people were having business meetings or just grabbing a bite or a drink and wanted to be left alone. Next time we will ask for a seat in the dining room located as you enter. The place itself is very interesting looking with the staff all being friendly and informative. The menu is interesting and somewhat on the expensive side. The shared Drunken Mussels simmered in beer, garlic, basil and Andouille Sausage was a generous and delicious start. The Lamb special with a very good sweet mint sauce and mashed potatoes was again a large portion and was very good. The Steak Frites was on the disappointing side with the Frites tasting better than the steak and its sauce. Full bar with both bottled/canned and Draft beers. My wife and I have a subscription to the nearby Bristol Riverside Theater and always eat dinner in town before the show. We love to try new restaurants, and this one looked good online. I will start with the positives. The drink menu was very good as were the quality of our drinks. The service was friendly although the quality tapered off as the night progressed. The food was just ok at best, and that is being generous. You know when you go to a nice restaurant, you picture the chefs in the back making your meal from scratch over open fire with homemade sauces. When I started eating our food, I realized this was not that. We started with the truffle fries as an appetizer. Again, they were really just ok. They were clearly frozen fries with some grated cheese and oil placed on them. It was hard to enjoy when I have had some of the best truffle fries ever across the street at Itri. I ordered the beef tips over risotto (way too many onions) and my wife ordered the short rib grilled cheese with Caesar salad (good). The issue was the sauce for both tasted pretty much the same, and the quality tasted like it came from a cheap can of gravy from a discount grocery store. I felt like I was at a chain restaurant with an unskilled cook dumping a bag of pre-packaged canned gravy into a pan and heating it up. The quality just was not there for what they were advertising. Lastly, the noise level from this restaurant is unbearable. I could not hear my wife most of the night. There were babies screaming in the bar and people behind me yelling at their table because no one could hear a thing. Next time I will just go across the street to Itri which is amazing. I had the surf and turf a whole lobster sweet meat and tender very fresh-and a filet-- both were delicious although you must be prepared to crack and break the lobster shell with a lobster cracker so there is some work at getting the meat out of the shell. Sides were diced sweet potato and amazing Brussel sprouts. My wife had a very tasty quinoa burger smothered in feta cheese and arugula. Go for dinner you won't regret it!! read more

Tried this place for dinner after watching a performance at the Bristol theater. We first stopped at the Hardware Distillery for a delicious martini. We arrived around 7 pm on a Sunday night and the restaurant bar room was hopping. We sat in the quieter room, but it was still quite loud. Some soundproofing maybe would help. Our server Leigh F was very nice and attentive, an asset to the place. I got the Drift burger and it was enormous, about 1/2 in thick. I asked for the blue cheese mashed potatoes and my meal was delicious and highly recommended. My partner got the French roast chicken and it was also a huge portion. Leigh explained that the wait for food was a tad long because of the chicken. My partner had a problem eating it as it was half of a chicken, wasn't cut up and a bit of a mess although very tasty. Um it's an odd place it's trying to be upscale casual dining or a sports bar, was seated with a toddler at the table right at the bar, so very loud and it was around 8 so some drunk people carrying on. Has a kids menu and only has three items, that a plus cause kids. The flat bread pizza off that was good, sauce was pretty tasty. House salad was good, but I dunno calamari breading was not seasoned very bland along with the cocktail sauce just tasted of nothing. Order the steak fritas, French fries were good, steak however was boiled I and also not seasoned very bland. I say boiled cause there is no way a medium rare steak could be cooked in a pan, grill would not have any sear at all. Wife has the salmon, was underwhelming also very bland along. I dunno if the people that live around here, must have near went to Philly for date night. Cause I try all these "HiDDeN GEms" in this area of bucks and they are all not good. Been waiting for this place to open for months. I wanted to go with the steak, but wasn't that hungry. We got the Calamari as an appetizer. Very good. My wife got the Salmon which she said was delicious. I got the burger and fries which was very good. The entire meal with a couple drinks was like $110, which is average for a good meal. We have been looking forward to trying this place since it opened, and I was very underwhelmed. The chard octopus was overcooked and very chewy. The brussels sprouts were dry and the scallops with risotto had zero flavor. I wish I had spoke up & sent it back to try something else because I didn't end up eating it. It was disappointing & very expensive. The filet mignon was the only thing that was average. We ordered a bottle of the Pinot noir, which was $48 & the brand was Rascal. I would not recommend it. Another great restaurant in Bristol! We brought our son here for his birthday. The food was unique and delicious, the vibe was cool and comfortable, and the staff was attentive and fun. We started with the Mexican Street Corn Ribs, which had a chili spice, so it had a nice kick. The oysters were also worth getting. One nit: We got the Bang Bang Shrimp, which wasn't great. It was buried in cheese and sauce. For the main meal, I got Steak Frites - which was amazing. Cooked perfectly with a nice chimichurri (which I got on the side, but next time I'll get it on the steak). Two of us had that. Two others had the crabby patty, which got good reviews, too. We didn't get to see much of the restaurant because we were immediately seated in the small section in front of the bar. The staff were very attentive and friendly. The atmosphere was laid back and very chill. Our drinks came out very quickly but app took a little longer. Our sever did come out to apologize but we weren't in a hurry. There was live music which was nice but a little loud since we weren't directly next to the speaker. We had carrots as an app and they were delicious. Our party of three all had sandwiches (crab cake, mahi mahi and teriyaki burger) which everyone enjoyed. The sauce on the fish sandwiches was a little spicy so you might want it in the side if you can't handle the heat. The portions were generous and none of us completely finished our meal. First off let me start with a 4 star review from me is very good. I took my wife here for her birthday. It was a Monday evening. I had reservations for six and was promptly and pleasantly seated when we came in. (At six) The atmosphere was very pleasant. Taylor was our server. She was very friendly. We were brought water as soon as we were seated . And our cocktails were served very soon after. My wife had a Mermaid Mojito and I had some prickly pear thing. Both were delicious and quite refreshing. For appetizers we shared drunken mussels and bang bang shrimp. I must admit, I ate more than my share of both. Our entrees were seared tuna with green beens and rice, and chicken with green beans and mashed potatoes. The tuna was cooked (seared) perfectly for me. It was a large portion, with a red center that you could see and taste was fresh. The chicken was half a bird with a creamy gravy that was absolutely fabulous. Unfortunately we couldn't get (fit) deserts. But I think we will stop in one evening to try them at their bar. The bar looked like the perfect place for appetizers and cocktails and/or desserts. My boyfriend and I enjoyed a very nice meal of appetizers at Drift this evening. Calamari was delicate and delicious. The lobster bisque was wonderful with plenty of large chunks of lobster. Tommy had the lobster Mac and cheese which was delicious. And the corn ribs were very good. Our server, Sierra, was very attentive and friendly. It was all together a great experience. The cocktails were so so good, so got the cove with the house rum - MUST try and so easy to drink. We got the mexican street corn ribs - SO GOOD. The only thing I would say is we wanted more of their spicy mayo sauce because it was THAT good. We tried the crab cake sandwiches and the crab cake dish - so much crab and so so good. We let our server know but it was disregarded, no offer to re-make it or anything. The salad was better but still not great, a lot of the lettuce was wilted and they over charged us for both salads.
