We stopped by to enjoy some ice cream after our boys had a great football practice. There isn't much room to park if it's a busy night, so you might have to do some walking. (If you're in the mood for ice cream, it's probably a nice day so it shouldn't be an issue to walk!) Right off the bat, one kid had to pee. Really bad. There is a sign that says "outhouse" or "porta-potty" or something of that nature, with an arrow pointing to the side of the building. We followed it all the way around and then realized that there is no restroom of the sort. So we asked at the counter and she let us into the building, which is currently under construction, to use the restroom. Poor kid almost didn't make it! It'll be nice when the construction is finished and guests can walk in to relieve themselves/wash sticky ice cream off hands, etc. Anyway, we let the kids order whichever flavors they wanted. Kid #1 ordered cotton candy ice cream in a bowl. Kid #2 ordered Super Hero in a cone. They both ate every bit! Since Hubby and I normally eat a plant-based diet, we were very happy to see that they have a few non-dairy ice cream options. Two options, I believe. It would be nice to see more! We both ordered the dairy-free cookies & cream in cones. It took them awhile to prepare them because the ice cream was too hard. Must have been in the back of the freezer. I was a little disappointed when the girl shoved them out the window and called loudly "VEGAN COOKIES & CREAM!". We were standing right there. And it annoyed me that she didn't say "dairy-free". Just because someone can't/won't eat dairy doesn't mean they are following a particular lifestyle. Yes, we are plant-based eaters, aka "vegan" if you must, but does it have to be announced? I'm not embarrassed or ashamed of how I eat, but it's like having your dietary or lifestyle choices announced to everyone within earshot. Someone who is lactose intolerant may not be thrilled to be labeled vegan if they aren't. I digress. Long story short- don't label things incorrectly or you may ruffle some feathers. Moving on... The ice cream was prettt good! Two scoops was about all I could handle- any more and it would have been wasted. I'd be impressed with someone who can put away more than that! I'm excited to come back when the construction is finished. There is a menu item involving apple pie that sounds devine, so I might have to try that next time, "vegan" or not. read more

Love Uncle G's. The service is wonderful and the selection of ice cream is top notch- hard ice cream from Perry's, yummy custard, vegan options and dole whip! They have plenty of outdoor seating and it is in the middle of a beautiful setting, bordering old trees and the bike path. During the COVID-19 pandemic, all employees are masked and gloved and masks are required in line. Stopping at Uncle G's was a real treat for us at the end of the Tonawanda Creek trail! Their patio is gigantic and gorgeous, and it overlooks picnic table seating on the grass. Their Perry's menu is extensive and includes some pretty intriguing flavors like sponge candy, and classics like Panda paws. Their sundaes are amazing, soft serve loaded with a sauce of your choice, whipped cream, nuts (or if you're me, heath bar pieces) and a cherry on top. I loved that they had an orange chocolate soft serve flavor! Oh, and the service was super efficient considering the line of about 15 people on a Sunday evening. That didn't slow them down and certainly didn't bother them- the ladies were super sweet to us. Again stressing one of the best parts of the experience was the fact that the Tonawanda Creek bike trail ended right there! Definitely will be back. read more

I love ice cream.... and I love cute, independently owned ice cream places with heart and soul even more. So, it's no surprise that I was thrilled to be introduced to this place! It's like a slice of Americana right in my "backyard". It's right on the water (Tonawanda Creek) and there are picnic tables and benches scattered around the lovely lawn. I've heard that bands play out on the deck in the summertime and there are car shows and special treats for moms and dads on their respective holidays. Just being there I felt like I was in the 1950's or "Mayberry" or something (smile). Two of us shared a "Strawberry Rhubarb Pie Sundae". A generous slice of HOMEMADE pie was surrounded by creamy, dreamy vanilla frozen custard and topped with fresh strawberry sauce and whipped cream. The pie was AMAZING with the perfect sweet to tart balance and a wonderful flaky crust. A perfect warm weater treat! And, it was big enough to share (not that I didn't want to devour the entire thing myself!) Why the lack of the additional star? The ice cream is "Perry's".... not that that's a bad thing.. . It's very good and it's made locally. I just prefer homemade. And, the whipped cream (while real) comes from a can. No big deal. I still will be back.... many, many (MANY) times. read more

I absolutely adore Uncle G's! While they are serving Perry's ice cream flavors the outdoor seating and relaxing tunes instantly work magic on its customers and cools all the stress away. The staff are a great bunch that really love what they are doing and always make everyone feel like family. If you are not feeling a traditional flavor, catch them for a Brownie Monster or Volcano sundae! This place has never disappointed. Seating is outdoors only, but there's tables and grass to spread out on. They've got hard ice creams, but their sundaes, blizzards, and milkshakes are really what stands out for me. Sundae wise the blueberry, hot fudge, and fluffer nutter ones are favs of mine, or I go for my old stand-by the Crazy Man blizzard (which is a variety of crushed candy bars mixed into vanilla ice cream). They have a small parking lot, but there's still plenty of street parking just across from them. This was an awesome place in West Whereami! The two workers were great and friendly. The ice cream we had was the Black Forest Sundae. So funny story time! Our trip to Uncle G's resulted in my need to get new glasses. So after we got our ice cream, the sky decided that an attempted drowning while waking was due. So we sat under an awning and ate our ice cream, wishing it was never ending. Anyways, after that we rushed to the car because we weren't mer-people and thought it would be safer there. I hate cleaning off my glasses, so I put them in my pocket for the mad dash. We get the car laughing, nearly soaked. I reach for my glasses and say, "welp, my glasses are still out there." I ran back out and got my glasses and also a acquired the desire to change my undergarments. When I sat down in my car, I noticed that the lenses were scratched beyond repair! Sad Panda!
