Hojack's is practically the central hub of community life in Lyndonville (& the surrounding area)…read morein summertime. It's a fun, welcoming place and you always seem to bump into someone you know. The ice cream is absolutely worth waiting in line for, and the beef-on-weck here does not disappoint. In the outdoor covered areas they pump in old music at a pleasant volume that lifts your spirits and further enriches the family-friendly ambiance here.

I'm glad to say that in 2026, The Hojack remains a solid grill and ice cream spot!…read more I brought my mom here for Mother's Day 2026 for dinner. We arrived around 5pm and the parking lot was packed, but we still managed to find a spot. The staff working here are young and courteous. After looking over the food menu, it didn't take long to reach the ordering window and place our dinner order. The Hojack accepts cash and credit cards, but there's an additional processing fee with credit cards. Mom secured a table for us while I stood by the other window, waiting for our order number to be called. There were several tables and they're all covered so that's very nice! For Mother's Day 2026, it was cool and windy, so we didn't stay once we finished eating. For dinner, mom ordered a turkey burger, no mayonnaise (this comes topped with lettuce, tomato, and mayonnaise), I ordered a crispy chicken sandwich with all the toppings (lettuce, tomato, mayonnaise), and we split a basket of fries. It took about 15 minutes before our food was ready, but everything was made-to-order, so it all was incredibly fresh and hot! Even though the food is basic, The Hojack does a great job! We were sad to see they weren't serving their ice cream nachos, so we decided to go elsewhere for dessert (plus we were freezing at this point haha). The Hojack is a no-frills spot, but they nail the grill/fryer basics! As the weather gets warmer, I see myself coming back for a cold, ice cream treat - Hopefully it'll be for some ice cream nachos!

I love The Taco Place! I have only gone for the Mexican food, but they have something for everyone!…read moreIn addition to Mexican, they have hot dogs, burgers and fries and also a selection of ice cream. Sadly, on this visit they did not have any tamales, but my food was still delicious! I opted to get a surf & turf taco (shrimp & barbacoa) and the governador (shrimp with grill onions). There is a bar with a selection of toppings for your tacos including cilantro, pico, hot sauce, pickled onions & more. It also has toppings for burgers/dogs if you went that way. My food was hot, fresh & satisfying. The service was friendly. There is a lot of covered & uncovered outdoor seating as well as indoor seating. They also have a playground and some hammocks. It is a very nice setting to enjoy your food. One if these days I'm gonna get some ice cream too! I will definitely be back to The Taco Place... Hopefully to enjoy some tamales! :)

At first, we thought it was just an ice cream place, until noticing the taco sign. The service, fast, friendly, and authentic taste, affordable menu, and for those that have the sweet tooth, their is the ice cream for dessert option. We spilt the two taco deal, and ordered a gringo to share as well. All the food was savory, seasoned perfect, delicious and hearty. Goes to show you, smaller towns like Barker, NY know how to deliver for Mexican food, and who doesn't love ice cream !! If your hungry and find yourself in Barker, NY, Golden Hills State park, stop and order, you wont be disappointed, and pleasantly surprised. Thanks The Taco Place....for a perfect Cinco de Mayo!!!

There are businesses that make you think, "I'd come back here just to support these people." Not…read morethis one. As for the ice cream itself, it's Perry's. Same as most everywhere else you'd stop in WNY. Nothing about it was memorable, special, or remotely good enough for me to understand why I'd pay ice-cream-shop prices for something I could pick up on a Tops run. Since many of these ice cream shops are alike, I want them to do something extra to stand out a little. Otherwise, I'd just go to Dairy Queen. Don't get me wrong -- I love supporting locally owned businesses. In fact, I'm usually willing to spend a little more locally when I feel good about where my money is going. I don't feel that way here. The service was sub-par. The ice cream was meh. The sundaes are basically ice cream with a cheap toupee. A very ill-fitting, cheap toupee. Nothing about the product or my overall impression of this business gives me a reason to choose it over the many other locally owned places where I'm genuinely happy to spend my money. So if you're looking for extraordinary ice cream, I can't recommend it. If you're simply looking for adequate ice cream with apathetic, crappy service, you can certainly find it here (and be prepared to bring cash). Personally, I'd save the money and buy a pint at the grocery store. Or if you're looking for a date night where you can really enjoy yourself, I'd do Tinsel, or as another reviewer suggested, The Hojack Ice Cream Shack in Lyndonville.
