Fish and chips and whisky burger

Review of The Blind Pig - Niagara Falls Stopped in at The Blind Pig while visiting Niagara Falls and had a great experience overall. My wife went with the fish and chips, and I had the whisky burger -- both were solid choices. The fish was crispy and flaky, and the fries were seasoned just right. My burger was juicy, cooked perfectly, and had that nice kick from the whisky glaze. We started off with the pork belly appetizer, which was rich, tender, and full of flavor -- definitely recommend that one. For dessert, we had the ice cream-filled hazelnut crepes, which were the surprise highlight. They were light, crispy, and not overly sweet -- a great finish to the meal. The atmosphere was fun and lively -- a little on the loud side, but that's to be expected in a pub setting. Lots of people chatting and laughing, but it still had a cool vibe and felt welcoming. Would definitely go back again. Great food, good drinks, and a casual, upbeat place to spend an evening.

    Harvest salad

I reviewed the menu on Yelp before bringing the family here for lunch. We had the peach salad, the harvest salad, the kids pizza, the Caesar salad salad, and the big pig burger. The food was excellent. Everyone was very happy. If we come back to Niagara, we will likely eat here again.

We've been in the area for a few days and I can say this was my fav spot. The peach salad was really good (and perfect after eating poorly for a few days). The pickle poutine was SO good as well as the beer mussels. Our server was great. The vibe there was good. Highly recommend!

Price - 4 Service - 2 Atmosphere - 3 Food - 2 We really wanted to like this place. The surrounding area isn't their fault and the inside of the restaurant is much nicer than expected. Our server was very nice and but not very attentive. We got the Chicken Goat Cheese Panini & the Pork Belly entrée. First off, the panini wasn't a panini, it was just a sub. It was ok. Felt like I could have made it at home. I admittedly only read pork belly and didn't read that there was a glaze on it. That part is fine because I love BBQ. However, my food was rancid. It smelled and tasted horrible. I told the server, and he kept asking if I wanted to take it home. I said twice that it was absolutely horrible, and I hated it. He asked if I wanted anything else. I said no. I was actually nauseous from the food. He didn't take the meal off the order and we still tipped because I understand the server didn't make the food. However, we won't be back. I hate reviewing restaurants without visiting twice, but this was such an awful experience that we will not return.

The food was delicious. We wanted to avoid the more touristy areas and were glad we did. Definitely recommend.

Sure, it was good... but Doc's knocked by socks off. I went here on a recommendation from the staff at a hotel that competes with the Best Western where Doc's is located, which is always a good sign for a hotel restaurant. Got the corned beef boxty, which is amazing. With the boxty fries, which were really good - much better than standard fries, in my opinion. And had the sticky toffee pudding for dessert. Heavenly. I actually went back two days later after dinner at another restaurant to have the sticky toffee pudding one more time. The atmosphere is very nice, like a pub should be, with good service from the bartender, music the second night I was there, and some good conversation with a fellow traveler from London (Ontario). The odds are high that I'll be back. If you're looking for somewhere to burn all the delicious calories, my suggestions are the Niagara River Recreation Trail (from Fort Erie to Niagara-on-the-Lake) and the Niagara Gorge Hiking Trails. Three and a half out of five for Doc's matches. They burn well, and are a cool souvenir, but it's difficult to strike them on the side of the box. Still useful to have around the house where I can strike them on the side of another box, but not ideal for a retro night out on the town.

Tasty Pub Fare, Great Vibes & Even Better Reuben Bites!…read more Doc Magilligan's is a cozy Irish pub with a solid menu, a great beer selection, and a lively atmosphere. We really enjoyed the live music--it definitely added to the vibe, though it did make chatting a bit tricky at times. That said, the sets were short and added a fun touch to the evening. We started with a few appetizers, and everything hit the spot--the cauliflower bites were tasty, the spinach dip was solid, but the star was definitely the Reuben Bites--absolutely delicious! For mains, my wife ordered the mac and cheese and loved the depth of flavour--you can really taste the leeks, which was a nice twist. I got the chicken parm mac and cheese and thought it was fantastic--the chicken was juicy, crispy, and perfectly done. The rest of our group was just as happy--my brother raved about the Chicken Pot Pie, and the Bangers and Mash were also a hit. Overall, a great Irish pub experience with comforting food, friendly vibes, and some standout dishes. Definitely worth a visit!

One dines here understanding that the kitchen need not compete with the spectacle beyond the glass; rather, it complements it with warmth and reliability. Yet what elevated this visit to something truly memorable was the service -- and more specifically, our server, Nitsa. A fixture of this establishment since 1984, she carries four decades of hospitality with the energy and radiance of someone who might have started last season. Her warmth is genuine, her attentiveness instinctive, and her ability to make every table feel singularly important is a rare gift. There were more than a few day drinkers hanging around the bar and patio, but no one seemed inebriated. To be honest, though, I probably wouldn't bring my kids here on a Friday or Saturday night. It was our first time having poutine and I'm not sure it was standard (it had shredded cheese instead of cheese curds) but it was delicious! Like really really really good. The burger was juicy and thick. The fries were totally yummy. Kid #1 said the chicken parm sandwich was good, and I thoroughly enjoyed my Philly cheesesteak. The prices were totally reasonable, too!
