We came to Weinkiller for our anniversary... the day after the blizzard! They stayed open for us and we were the only table when we got there and the only table all night. The food was fantastic, the famous goat cheese appetizer does not disappoint! The special salad was amazing. It served "deconstructed" style, which looked beautiful, and our server, Kailey, made sure to mention that we should chop it and make sure to blend the flavors together. Incredible. In short: We were very happy and impressed! The concept of choosing any 5 items is a little confusing in the beginning. However, we received some instructions and then it was easy! We started with a parsnip soup which was great. The fried goat cheese is a must as well. I had the Bone in Tomahawk Pork Chop with Maple Mustard as a main dish and it was delicious. During our stay in Niagara Falls, my husband and I wanted to go for a nice dinner and decided on Weinkeller. Weinkeller is not cheap, however they have a pricing structure that offers excellent value: for a set price of $80 per person, you get one entree and four items, and the four items can be any combination of appetizers, desserts, or alcohol. I had never come across this before, but I think it is brilliant -- you can have a full meal (entree, appetizer, and dessert), plus a couple of drinks, and not have a nasty bill at the end. The one problem was, there was so much to choose from, it was hard to make a decision! For our appetizers, my husband and I shared the daily soup (a creamy parsnip) and mussels in a white wine sauce; for our entrees, my husband had grilled chicken and I had the cedar planked salmon; and unable to decide between the desserts, we shared a cheesecake and a semi-freddo (frozen chocolate mousse). I'm pretty sure we each had three drinks (I love my wine!), so I was fully expecting to be charged extra for the desserts, as we had exceeded our four items each (one appetizer and three drinks), but surprisingly we were not charged -- I'm not sure if it was a miscalculation on their part or if they knowingly gave us one extra item. Although the bill shows my husband's three drinks and only two of my wines, but I KNOW I had three drinks. At any rate, the food was delicious, and the bill was very reasonable for the amount and quality of food and drink. The service was excellent (we tipped well!), and the atmosphere was great -- we were seated outside on a nice, cozy patio with lovely lighting. I will not be back here. I just wanted an appetizer but you must sit at the bar if you don't want the full 4 course meal. The prices here are CRAZY! The food was just okay, nothing spectacular. I ordered the oysters as an appetizer. I ordered oysters quite often at many restaurants. I was very unimpressed with these tiny oysters. They did not have any spectacular flavor either. If you want to add chicken to a salad that is a $16.00 up charge for a thigh. I didn't see anything to warrant these prices such as farm to table food or upscale liquor, etc.. the chicken thigh wasn't anything special with seasonings or spices, etc. however, it was cooked perfectly. The atmosphere is delightful. The bar tender was friendly. Added note I did see in a different review that this is farm to table but nothing of that was mentioned by any staff, and there was nothing in the restaurant that indicated that. A perfect Saturday evening dinner! From the wine to the service! The way this place has their menu set up is geared towards two things one you spending at least a certain amount of money fair enough with the setting and to you getting a bang for your buck. I know that combination might sound a tad odd, but I promise you everything I eat at this place was delicious and it was at least a three course meal perfection. I cook salmon pretty often, and I'd like to think the salmon that I make at home is delicious. This salmon was next level. The salmon came out on a cedar plank that smelled like fall. I have no other way of describing it other than smoked fall and deliciousness. My appetizer was fish on a chip that was out of this world and the cheese cake was delicious, I almost regretted sharing with the hubby. If we ever make our way back to Canada I will Be heading back this place! Oh and a round of applause for this restaurant putting out what most us think! Keep your bad a*** kids at home. It is a winery within a restaurant. I was able to have a red wine flight with food parings. Food: My husband and I let Dan decide on what we should get and it did not disappoint!! For apps we had the red pepper soup and beef carpaccio. The soup was so silky smooth and I loved the tang of the goat cheese. The carpaccio was well balanced and the panzanella salad cut the richness of the dish. For other apps we had the oysters, mussels, and goat cheese. The oysters were fabulous! We love Tide and Vine! The mussels had the most delicious broth and the fries had a hint of truffle. The goat cheese was amazing! I wish it had some black pepper, spice, or acid. It was so rich, but so tasty! For mains: we had the special. The bacon wrapped filet was so tender and cooked perfectly. The veggies were also amazing along with the potatoes. My husband and I were so stuffed before the mains!! My favorites: definitely the goat cheese with honey, the tuna wonton, the oysters, caesar salad, mussels, and by the time you get to the entree and dessert to be honest...your stuffed so the entrees I didn't get to finish. We heard about this place online and decided to give it a try due to it being - from farm to table restaurant. Weinkiller definitely lives up to its expectations and they have a really great ordering system. The service was on point and the food was extremely delicious.
