As a frequent traveler to the Buffalo area, I was excited to finally try the Anchor Bar. Visited the location near Niagara Falls on a Wednesday evening. Good size location near a Holiday Inn. Our group of 3 waited a bit for someone to seat us. We then waited longer (felt like 10 minutes) for our server to engage. We she finally came over we ordered drinks and food. She mostly came over when called, not really to check how we were doing. A positive note they let me sub regular wings into the Mac & cheese dish. Menu description made it sound delicious. Mac was not as creamy as I hoped it would be. Sparse blue cheese crumbles, no crusties on the mac and cheese either. Wings were crispy but not too flavorful. I ordered hot bacon jam and only tasted bacon when I picked up a piece off the plate. One thing to consider is that location is right in front of a bus stop. I noticed large groups coming as we were leaving. There were also a few tour busses in the parking lot. We parked without a pass for a bit and ended up being fine. Not sure what rules are. My co-worker ordered Anchor Bar Bloody Mary. She said it was amazing.

Came here to of course try the world's first famous creation of Buffalo Wings! When we got there, it was packed, and we waited in line for over an hour. Understandable since we didn't have reservations and it was a Saturday but somebody giving us a head's up about wait time would've been nice. Considering the entrance was getting crowded with people waiting for a table, not knowing how long they'd be waiting for and nobody at the front to give us any information. We waited, nonetheless since we really wanted to try Anchor Bar. (Little did we later realize that there are several Anchor Bar branches throughout Buffalo). When we were seated, our server Tia came after a bit and apologized for the wait, we didn't give it much mind, we weren't in a rush. We waited the hour, we could wait a little while longer. At least now we were seated. We ended up ordering the bone-in wings; we got 10 buffalo and 10 dry rub lemon pepper wings and a plate of fries. The food arrived quick. The buffalo wings were amazing and tasted fresh but they were light, I wish they added more buffalo sauce. The lemon pepper rub was delicious and the fries were good. Delicious and worth the hype! Especially if you're a tourist.

Had the famous wings! Was a quick stop but they were delivered pretty fast to my bar seat and the bartender who waited on me was great. I would go again. The restaurant didn't have any major appeal in the dining room but its not really that kind of place. Good local wing place.

I mean buffalo wings in Buffalo is like a must isn't it?! This location was in walking distance from our hotel and a stones throw from Niagara Falls!! The wings were good and the flavor choices were quite varied. Service was good for a busy Friday night. Our waitress did forget our appetizer but it did make it out to the table quickly after we reminded her

Had to try this place since it's pretty renown in Buffalo. Got 10 wings with the spicy garlic sauce. The sauce it self was really good. The wings on the other hand were a bit underwhelming. They were juicy but not crispy. Was still good just not the best wings I've had. Service was a little slow but it was a busy Friday night and to be expected. The restaurant itself had a weird smell the whole evening.

We started with some mixed drinks. This is the original place of the buffalo wings. My wife choose the 3 piece pepperoni rolls with sauce while I went with 10 piece boneless garlic parm. Then I got my wife the lava cake (not on menu). This is a Military friendly location.

Average. I couldn't wait to try the wings and weck combo. The wings are to die for! But the beef on deck was similar to an Arby's roast beef fast food sandwich. Bummer, can't wait to try another spot tomorrow, hoping ut is kuch better.

Had a pleasant visit at this location. We enjoyed a lunch special of 10 wings and a Pep pizza. Wings were perfectly fried. I had the sauce on the side as I am always skeptical of trying things that claim to be the best. Ordered a side of buffalo and honey garlic. Booth sauces were pretty good. Im not a fan of buffalo but this sauce was tasty. Service was quick and friendly. Lots of screens around the bar to catch the games. Full bar and plenty of seating for families.

Came here after exploring Niagara and the first thing to know is the parking about $10 for just an hour, which feels crazy if you're only coming to eat, so definitely keep that in mind. We came mainly for the wings since we're out of state and thought it was a must this close to Buffalo. Unfortunately, they didn't live up to the hype honestly, we thought Wingstop back home was better. On the brighter side, the Philly cheesesteak was actually pretty good. Overall, it was an alright experience, but we were just expecting a little more.

A friend and I came here for wings after visiting the falls. We were greeted right away and seated quickly in the main dining area. Love the air conditioning after being out in the hot sun! I was surprised at how many families were in the dining area and some of the kids were quite loud (there was at least one ear-shattering scream) so I'd probably sit at the bar next time. Soda and water refills were plentiful and fast. We both ordered wings and they were perfect - plenty of meat on them, good sauce level, great flavor, and they come with blue cheese and celery sticks by default (as wings should). We also got a plate of loaded fries - heck yes I would get this again. Good fries piled high with cheese sauce, bacon crumbles, and I don't remember what else but it was very tasty. I would happily return for these two menu items.

Buffalo wings you should try. If you expect wedge salad, don't; it's just a wedge of lettuce with blue cheese dressing on top, no blue cheese in between layers of lettuce. The mushroom burger is okay; I've had better. for a sport bar, it doesn't really stand to the level of the state I come from when the sport bar would be at least five times more TVs and sets four. Service is pretty adequate after you get seated, which may take a while. As for a sports bar, it doesn't really stand up to the level of the state I come from, where the sports bar would have at least five times more TVs and sets.

They were very good wings, but thought they could do better than that. The waitress was too busy to come stop by at our table, and added something extra which we didn't order it, and added 18% gratuity already which I did not appreciate it that much. But it was a great experience to have the original Buffalo wings here in NY and we had such wonderful time having 50 pcs of Buffalo wings!!

One dines here understanding that the kitchen need not compete with the spectacle beyond the glass; rather, it complements it with warmth and reliability. Yet what elevated this visit to something truly memorable was the service -- and more specifically, our server, Nitsa. A fixture of this establishment since 1984, she carries four decades of hospitality with the energy and radiance of someone who might have started last season. Her warmth is genuine, her attentiveness instinctive, and her ability to make every table feel singularly important is a rare gift. Massive menu of burgers, spanning a range of style from thick to smash, flames to griddle, and even typed of meat or non-meat. Quite frankly, if you can't find a burger that calls to you here, you must be very difficult to please. It was a Sunday, and the general area was thumping, this place was about half full and the vibe was relaxed. They're not on the absolutely main drag of Clifton Hill, and honestly, I would hope that benefits them both in price of rent and who might find it easy to wander in. There is paid parking nearby, cheaper than most because to get down to the falls is a bit of a hike. The hike back will be pretty far uphill, but we made it no problem. I love that the sodas come in a giant measuring cup, not much need for a refill, but they do give them complimentary if you ask for one. We started with standard poutine as an appetizer, it was really tasty. Nice flavor on the gravy, and a large amount of cheese curds. Instead of getting more fries as a side, went for a caesar salad. Was surprised to see bacon on it, but I definitely didn't hate that. It was quite good. I got a double smash burger with a nice thick onion ring on it and their version of burger sauce, as well as a spice relish to kick things up a notch. First thing, my patties were smashed very nicely, and there was a clear crispy crust on them. Bravo, I was pretty impressed, and the flavor was robust. I loved the spicy relish, and the bun also complemented the meat well. It was a big burger, and I was thoroughly satisfied. The service, maybe could have been slightly more attentive, but really just took awhile to take our order. Once it was taken, we had no complaints. Very friendly, everything was accurate, and like I said... big drink cups means not a ton of need for refills. I would come back here again on a future visit to the falls.

Got the corned beef boxty, which is amazing. With the boxty fries, which were really good - much better than standard fries, in my opinion. And had the sticky toffee pudding for dessert. Heavenly. I actually went back two days later after dinner at another restaurant to have the sticky toffee pudding one more time. The atmosphere is very nice, like a pub should be, with good service from the bartender, music the second night I was there, and some good conversation with a fellow traveler from London (Ontario). The odds are high that I'll be back. If you're looking for somewhere to burn all the delicious calories, my suggestions are the Niagara River Recreation Trail (from Fort Erie to Niagara-on-the-Lake) and the Niagara Gorge Hiking Trails. Three and a half out of five for Doc's matches. They burn well, and are a cool souvenir, but it's difficult to strike them on the side of the box. Still useful to have around the house where I can strike them on the side of another box, but not ideal for a retro night out on the town.
