And honestly, there's an expectation that comes with it. If you're going to carry that banner, you have to be better than Buffalo Wild Wings. That's just the reality. I've heard about Anchor bar many times over the years and though the pics I've seen of their Buffalo Wings never looked appetizing to me, I stopped in here one evening because it was a quick walk from my hotel and it was pouring rain. When I got there they were moderately busy, but there were many seats available at the bar, where I sat. It took a while before the bartender came to greet me and it was a quick touch & go when she did. Service was extremely lackluster the entire visit as she stayed at the other end of the bar the entire time, either handling service bar or patrons on that end... Made me wish I would have sat down there instead. But I had to wait for basic stuff, like a fork after being served my food. The food was decent. I tried their Beef on Weck and Wing combo - It looked nice then it came out, but it didn't come with much horseradish and I wanted to ask for more, but I'd still be waiting, so I dealt with what I got. The sandwich itself was great! Beef was tender and flavorful, the bun was great too - except I don't understand why they made them with the outside being so greasy, that's nasty. The wings had decent flavor, I ordered them with their spicy BBQ sauce on them, which wasn't spicy at all. They had a nice crisp to them too, but they were small and not very meaty, so 5 went down quickly. The fries were plain and basic, nothing special. The blue cheese was weak in flavor but chunky enough - 10 wings came with 3 celery sticks. Even the Arnold Palmer I ordered lacked any lemon/tea flavor. Came here to of course try the world's first famous creation of Buffalo Wings! When we got there, it was packed, and we waited in line for over an hour. I was really paranoid that the wings wouldn't live up to the hype but they were incredibly tasty and distinct from regular hot sauce wings. It was not spicy either. I thought the fried pickles would come as chips like Chili's has it but they're actually spears. They were juicy and went well with the wings. Four people shared 30 wings. Seems like they might be having trouble paying their heatings bills as the place was frigid with customers eating in their winter coats and hats. Had to take take out gloves off as it's obviously tough to eat wings with them on! Men's room was also out of order so you had to use the men's room at the adjacent hotel which was a bit of a walk, and through their pool which was rather bizarre.
