The bartender only knows how to serve beer. We ordered a Long Island ice tea. She puts vodka and iced tea together. Taste like an insipid cough syrup... this tourist trap needs to be put in a barrel along with the nearby IHOP, Denny's and the Famous restaurant and thrown over the Niagara Falls. She was running the bar by…read moreherself and absolutely handled it -- attentive, friendly, efficient, and professional the entire time. I wish I remembered her name, but thank you. You made the visit. Now, when you market yourself as the Original Buffalo Wing, that carries real weight. There's history there. There's pride there. And honestly, there's an expectation that comes with it. If you're going to carry that banner, you have to be better than Buffalo Wild Wings. That's just the reality. The identity of the place is built on being the original. The wings were good. Solid flavor, classic presentation, cold beer, sports on the TVs -- it checks the boxes for a fun wing spot. But were they clearly a step above other national wing chains? Probably not. And that's where the expectation gap shows up. That said, it's still a good place to grab wings and a beer. Bring your buddies, bring your family, bring your girlfriend -- catch a game and hang out. It's casual and comfortable. If you're in Niagara Falls and want to experience the history behind the name, it's worth a stop. Just go in expecting a solid wing-and-beer experience rather than something that completely resets the standard.

When I got there they were moderately busy, but there were many seats available at the bar, where I sat. It took a while before the bartender came to greet me and it was a quick touch & go when she did. Service was extremely lackluster the entire visit as she stayed at the other end of the bar the entire time, either handling service bar or patrons on that end... Made me wish I would have sat down there instead. But I had to wait for basic stuff, like a fork after being served my food. The food was decent. I tried their Beef on Weck and Wing combo - It looked nice then it came out, but it didn't come with much horseradish and I wanted to ask for more, but I'd still be waiting, so I dealt with what I got. The sandwich itself was great! Beef was tender and flavorful, the bun was great too - except I don't understand why they made them with the outside being so greasy, that's nasty. The wings had decent flavor, I ordered them with their spicy BBQ sauce on them, which wasn't spicy at all. They had a nice crisp to them too, but they were small and not very meaty, so 5 went down quickly. The fries were plain and basic, nothing special. I had to wait quite a while for the check and ended up flagging down the barback to get it for me and hurried up and paid while I had his attention, as the bartender never came back down to our end of the bar. Seems like the 2 guests around me had the same issue. Overall, it's a touristy place with mediocre food and poor service.

There were more than a few day drinkers hanging around the bar and patio, but no one seemed inebriated. To be honest, though, I probably wouldn't bring my kids here on a Friday or Saturday night. It was obvious we weren't locals and even more obvious we were there to eat (not drink), but I did not feel at all uncomfortable or out of place. Our server (a blond barkeep) was super duper nice. She was friendly, pleasant, and chatty. She definitely enhanced our visit! And the food was totally awesome! It was our first time having poutine and I'm not sure it was standard (it had shredded cheese instead of cheese curds) but it was delicious! Like really really really good. The burger was juicy and thick. The fries were totally yummy. Kid #1 said the chicken parm sandwich was good, and I thoroughly enjoyed my Philly cheesesteak. The prices were totally reasonable, too! Definitely a bargain considering the decent price for excellent food! For sure we'd visit Cool Hand Luke's again!

Sure, it was good... but Doc's knocked by socks off. I went here on a recommendation from the staff at a hotel that competes with the Best Western where Doc's is located, which is always a good sign for a hotel restaurant. Got the corned beef boxty, which is amazing. With the boxty fries, which were really good - much better than standard fries, in my opinion. And had the sticky toffee pudding for dessert. Heavenly. I actually went back two days later after dinner at another restaurant to have the sticky toffee pudding one more time. The atmosphere is very nice, like a pub should be, with good service from the bartender, music the second night I was there, and some good conversation with a fellow traveler from London (Ontario). The odds are high that I'll be back. If you're looking for somewhere to burn all the delicious calories, my suggestions are the Niagara River Recreation Trail (from Fort Erie to Niagara-on-the-Lake) and the Niagara Gorge Hiking Trails. Three and a half out of five for Doc's matches. They burn well, and are a cool souvenir, but it's difficult to strike them on the side of the box. Still useful to have around the house where I can strike them on the side of another box, but not ideal for a retro night out on the town.

Tasty Pub Fare, Great Vibes & Even Better Reuben Bites!…read more Doc Magilligan's is a cozy Irish pub with a solid menu, a great beer selection, and a lively atmosphere. We really enjoyed the live music--it definitely added to the vibe, though it did make chatting a bit tricky at times. That said, the sets were short and added a fun touch to the evening. We started with a few appetizers, and everything hit the spot--the cauliflower bites were tasty, the spinach dip was solid, but the star was definitely the Reuben Bites--absolutely delicious! For mains, my wife ordered the mac and cheese and loved the depth of flavour--you can really taste the leeks, which was a nice twist. I got the chicken parm mac and cheese and thought it was fantastic--the chicken was juicy, crispy, and perfectly done. The rest of our group was just as happy--my brother raved about the Chicken Pot Pie, and the Bangers and Mash were also a hit. Overall, a great Irish pub experience with comforting food, friendly vibes, and some standout dishes. Definitely worth a visit!

Today, my family of four stopped in to this location while on a day trip to the Ontario side of Niagara Falls. We ordered the chicken poutine (with gravy) to share and it was very good. The plate was cleaned shortly after the server dropped it off. I ordered the chicken and ribs combo with a Caesar salad as my side and I inhaled every bit of it. I ordered a Caesar to drink as well to complete my Canadian dinner and it was good, but not great. The ambiance isn't as cozy as I remember it. The bright lights and hard plastic-y seats give a more commercial sit, eat, and get out kind of vibe. However, the servers were incredibly friendly and attentive and the manager was making rounds checking in on guests as well. A+++ for service. For my family (2 adults and 2 children) our bill came to $72.74 USD. An extremely reasonable price for the nice meal we had. We will be returning!

I've never eaten an entire pizza and felt like I hadn't eaten at all. Back in the States, one or two slices usually leave me feeling bloated, but not here.
