Gary provided the best service today for lunch! I'm not a fan of touristy joints, and Anchor Bars are just that, because the food isn't all that great, and after the visit and dinner I had at the Anchor Bar in Niagara Falls this week for dinner, I really never wanted to return to one. But flying out of BUF, this is one of the only places to eat, and sadly, it's the highest rated restaurant in BUF Airport. The menu is very simple, uninventive, and loaded with items that are probably frozen, just needing a quick fry to serve. So I asked Gary what was really good and he suggested their club. When it came out it was beautiful and quite large too! I opted for onion rings instead of pasta salad as a side dish and that clearly was the better choice, as there were tons of them and they looked amazing! Flavor of the sandwich was incredible! The turkey on it was fresh and tasted great. The lettuce and other ingredients were perfect, as fresh as well! The bread was perfectly toasted and highly flavorful and the basil mayo brought it all together quite nicely. That sandwich was easily a 10 out of 10! The onion rings (though they appeared to be frozen, then fried) were great too, and the BBQ style dipping sauce they came with was just OK, slightly too sweet for me. So, I got a ramakin of ranch too and that was great. Overall, great lunch was had! Crap Crap crap. They try to pass off a processed protein powder meal shaped like a chick tender as food. It's not a chicken tender. Chicken tenders and Fingers are terms get used interchangeably. But strictly, tenders are the actual strip of meat that runs along the breast, while fingers are cut from the breast itself and shaped to look like tenders. Celery and blue cheese proper temp and good traditional complements. Weck roll and horseradish both authentic and well done. Beef generous for the plate. Bartender friendly with great personality. Cons: absolutely chaotic when it gets busy. Luckily I was able to squeeze through to a seat at the end of the bar. Luggage everywhere, long line to get a table. Limited beer choices - though the local IPA I had was perfectly fine. Mac salad "meh", and disappointing to see the costs to substitute it. Au Jus was in a small container and a bit salty. I visited Anchor Bar while waiting for my flight that was delayed several hours. The service was incredible - Kim was so nice and helpful! Refills were quick, her knowledge of the menu was great, and she was all-around awesome. The food was far better than you'd expect for airport food - it rivals many regular restaurants. Beef on Weck is a must have on my all too rare trips to Western New York. Unfortunately, this time around, I didn't have time. Fortunately, there's an Anchor Bar at the Buffalo airport, so all is not lost! I realize that Anchor Bar is known for wings, not beef, but I can get wings in Chicago. I can't get Beef on Weck. And this restaurant has a good reputation, so why not? Unfortunately, this was a somewhat less than stellar experience. I get that beef is a little pricey these days and portion size is one of the less obvious ways restaurants address that. And I won't begrudge them that. But there are limits.. The roll was not much bigger than a McDonald's burger bun, topped with fine salt and not a caraway seed in sight. It was filled with about as much beef as a McDonald's burger patty. Consistent with the fast food theme, the beef had a distinctly Arby's flavor, and not in a good way. Some kind of weirdly processed, oddly seasoned meat product, not at all like the roast beef I've had for so many years at so many restaurants in the area. The silver lining, such as it is, was that the horseradish packed a solid kick. To add insult to injury, I was charged $18.49 for this salty Arby's roast beef sandwich, not $16.49 as shown on the menu. I'd strongly encourage you to get your beef fix at any number of excellent local restaurants, some very near the airport. This ain't that place. But, as I said, the horseradish was good. read more

This location is inside the airport, next to the boarding gates. Food was all right. We ordered an appetizer and the Anchor Bar Wings. 8 wings cost $19.79. Each wing had just a touch of orange sauce that was visible. Service was poor to nonexistent. From the moment we stepped in to when we left, lunch took about 1 hour and 10 minutes. Servers did a great job avoiding eye contact and conversation for the first 20 minutes. When our neighboring table mentioned that we needed some service, we finally got our order in. 25 minutes after entering the place, we received our drinks. 8 minutes later, our food arrived. A couple of tables down, the guests arrived about half an hour after us. They received their bill before us. The difference was we didn't look like everyone else here. Getting our bill was a bit faster than getting our order in. Take out would have been faster than this experience. The only reason we dined in was because we were hours early for our flight. If you like a loud bar, loud music, and cramped seating, close enough to touch neighboring tables' food and share in their conversation, this place is for you. We won't be returning. read more

This is a satellite of the original famous Anchor Bar in Buffalo that our best friend of blessed memory loved as he lived in Buffalo for a while. My wife and I both had platters with the Beef on Weck and the Buffalo Wings which were amazing. We tried two of the local Buffalo beers on draft we loved which were the Big Ditch Hayburner and the 42 North Borderland IPA and tried the one Canadian beer we didn't try which was Labatt Blue that we didn't like as much. A thin, fried chicken patty topped with cheese, lettuce and tomato was very standard-issue. The meat reminded me of the traditional chicken sandwich at Burger King. it wasn't high quality, but it was hot, crispy, and fresh. The bread was the best part, toasted and very soft. The macaroni salad was good and made for a visually appealing side. Overall, this meal wasn't something that was craveable, but it was passable. Hubby enjoyed his chicken wings but said they were far from the best he'd ever eaten. He didn't love them, but said they were okay "for an airport restaurant." This place had delicious food. We got a platter of 50 wings. Half spicy garlic parm and half medium hot. Daughter got chicken parm spaghetti and said it was good. She finished it and usually doesn't. Busy place, and there wasn't much available for seating. I managed to squeeze in at the bar, though. From there, everything was perfect! The draft Labatt Blue Light was great, and my wings n fries were delicious! The best part was how fast they were. In terms of airport efficiency, this place certainly gets 5 stars.
