Lucky for me, my brother and sister, we wrapped up our annual Buffalo siblings trip in the best way possible -- with one final wing stop at Duff's Famous Wings! As if we hadn't eaten enough wings already, we couldn't resist squeezing in one more round before heading home. The weather in Western New York was absolutely perfect for October, so we grabbed a table out on the patio -- sunshine, laughter, and wings... can't beat it! We kicked things off with Fried Pickles. They were fine -- crispy and tasty -- and the dipping sauce had a nice little kick. But honestly, my mind was already on the wings! Our server, Olivia, was fantastic -- friendly, quick, and right on top of things. My brother and I split 10 wings, ordered Medium Hot. Now, Duff's isn't kidding when they say Medium is Hot! These packed a serious punch, but next trip we're going for the "Hot," which, by Duff's standards, is very, very hot! Their Blue Cheese was decent but I'm still searching for the best in WNY - looking for recommendations for me next years trip! We did a wing crawl throughout the Buffalo area. We visited 13 places. We rated them all on a scale of 10. Duffs came in dead last on our ranking with a 5/10. They have a sign that says their hots are very very hot. Not on this day. They must have forgotten to add the spice. The wings were mild. Our server was just sort of blah. We did get there before noon so the shift was just starting. Maybe she was just getting going. We also found the wings to be very small. We got a side of the "Death Sauce" for $1.79. Stopped in for lunch the other day with a friend from out of town and we tried out the wings. It had been awhile since he had some wings, and this was the spot he picked. It had a great vibe that day and that helped being right after the holidays. It was around 12:30 so it was a bit busy with a lunchtime rush. My only drawback was the price. I get it, these are a premium item, economy and all that. But if I can go down the street and get a large pizza and 20 wings for less than I paid for 30 wings here, I chose that. As you can see, these wings were not scrawny or skinny. They had a good amount of meat. The Buffalo flavor was good.
