We were in Buffalo to go to the AKG museum. We were inside for better than 3 hours and were hungry. Buffalo....Duff's wings. The GPS took us to the first location that opened (the waitress said the 1960s) a long time ago. The building is sitting at an angle from the road so go to the right and turn in to park or go past and turn right for the parking lot. Middle of the afternoon on a Thursday they weren't too busy. We were seated immediately and waited on quick. I wanted some clarity with the wing heat. Some places hot is mild or hot is burn your face off. She clarified the medium hot is hot so that's what I decided on for an order of 6. My sister isn't so much of a wing person so she decided on a grilled cheese. The waitress was pleasant and answered all the questions we had. The restaurant itself isn't too big but can seat a lot of people. Total wing vibe. Lots of different flavors and quantities went by...everything looked tasty and fresh. They had Yuengling on tap so that's what I ordered. She had a pepsi. Food arrived fast. The aroma was to die for (ok it burns the eyes a little...). Came with celery and blue cheese. The wings were amazing, some of the best I have ever eaten. Crunchy celery and cool dipping sauce. Bigger than most that I have ordered and very freshly prepared. After 6 I was filled up...but I ordered another brew just to wash it all down. If you're in Buffalo (or the area) it's definitely worth stopping to have a treat. Other Buffalo favorites are on the menu as well (Beef on Weck sandwich. All right, I hope everybody remembers when they read these reviews that it's all a matter of opinion I know everybody loves Duff's wings, and well, probably the actual restaurant and everything This was my first time going in there, and I did not care for The surroundings at all. Tables were too close, people are way too loud. I can't eat in loud surroundings. I don't like that, and it was so hot in there that it made me very uncomfortable. I believe all restaurants and bars, etc. should be air-conditioned and make people comfortable. If they're too cold, they can always put on a jacket but when you're too hot, I can't take much off. I ordered the roast beef on Weck and fries instead of potato chips. I was very satisfied it was delicious. Very expensive, I found everything was very expensive on the menu, but if you want good food, I guess that's what you gotta do is pay more. Jim ordered mild wings, they still looked good even though I'm a hot wing person. I was looking at everybody else's huge plates of wings that were coming out and they looked so amazing. I'm definitely gonna get some to take home some time. Anyway, the wings looked good smelled good, Jim said they were very good, my sandwich was good. The fries were good, the waitresses were nice so the service was pretty good. But again too small, too loud, too hot, and those things just don't make me happy. I probably would go in there again and eat if somebody else wanted to, but I'd rather take my food to go next time. One other issue I had is definitely the restroom. That had to be the smallest stall I have ever been in. Anytime I moved I banged into one of the walls. They have two stalls in there, which to me is definitely not enough when you're serving "spicy hot " food. At one point there was five people in the restroom. Luckily, I just had to wash my hands in that visit. But the restroom is way too small and when I talk to Jim about the ladies room, he said the men's room is super small too, so they're probably about the same size. They were extremely hot, temperature-wise, and stayed quite hot until we decided to quit for the night. Yes, we had a doggy bag! The negative was the celery sticks. I came here again by myself while visiting a friend in town and was not disappointed. I turned into a little piggy and ordered their Beef-on-Weck & Wing lunch special, with an extra side of fries. So much food, but so good. The sandwich was great and really salty (per the custom), but the bread became soggy pretty quick. I would dip it in the jus and try to bite it but the meat just couldn't be bit through and no matter how hard I tried it just made a sloppy mess. That was disappointing. The wings were ordered Medium Hot which they warn you is "Very Hot"... but it isn't. They were good, but next time I will order Hot because there was little to no burn. Coming to Buffalo we had to find the best wing spot. My dad and I both had this place bookmarked besides the place known for inventing them, however after being told by a few locals that the original place isn't really the best we decided on duffs. We had the pizza logs and jalepeno poppers to start. I had the 5 boneless lunch special which came with a side of fries. My son wanted the 20 piece so he got the daily special which is apparently for 2 to share so keep that in mind as he has a healthy appetite and did not finish his food. Everyone else at the table shared his large fries and there was left over. The boneless wings were mild and had a great crunch and mild flavor. The medium and bbq my son had were unique sauces. Medium is advertised as hot but to me, trying the sauce was not very hot. My dad thought it was pretty vinegar forward but I think that's how the original sauce is done. My son's mouth did start to burn after about the 5th wing so I would maybe still call that a medium? The bbq sauce was too strong on the ketchup flavor according to my dad but I thought it was good, not sweet. I'm not a wings person, theirs didn't look very appetizing but my son didn't care much for the bbq and he doesn't like flats which are the only ones I eat so I ate a few of his bbq flats and was surprised that they had a little crunch to them too. Came for dinner and got the combo #1 that came with 20 wings, a small fried, and a small pitcher. Got the loganberry which is a buffalo specialty drink that's like a mix of raspberry and black berry. It was pretty good, sweet and tarty and went well with wings. The small fries was really big and you have to salt it yourself which I appreciate. We got the medium (which wasn't very hot and tasted only like buffalo so definitely can get hotter as someone who isn't that good with spice) and the sweet Cajun which I prefer a lot more. A Buffalo staple known for their buffalo wings. But if you've never ask me they're pretty good but not the best wings in town. The classic buffalo wing in my opinion is a bit on the vinegary side here and ordering even five of them becomes repetitive and a bit of a slog after a while. Their other flavors are better. The spicy garlic parm is my fave but I def recommend trying out as many as you can and finding your own favorite. The place is definitely a classic buffalo wing bar with their wooden benches and Bills arcade game in the corner of the entrance. The wait staff is great and I really like how they bring you a bucket to put the bones into. I hadn't heard about Duff's until I read an Anchor Bar review talking about the rivalry between the two. Now that I've tried both, I think I'm firmly on Team Duff! They put a lot more sauce on their wings, which I prefer. The chicken itself is about the same quality as Anchor Bar. We got one of the specials with 10 medium wings and 10 sweet wings. (I forget the actual name, but it was the only sweet one on the menu, although there's an upcharge for it.) The sweet wings were perfect for my Vietnamese wife, who doesn't like the aroma of the buffalo wings, and they weren't kidding when they said the medium is actually hot. The fumes on them when they first come out sting one's nostrils, and I have a very high tolerance for spice! The order also came with a crazy amount of fries! Loved the no-frills divey ambiance. The wait was around 30 minutes on a Saturday evening. We ordered 20 medium and 10 super hot wings, large fries (huge portion), beef weck sandwich and chef salad. We should have tried a few different sauces (you have to order 10 in one sauce if you get the bulk). If there's an option to have the wings with sauce on the side only, I HIGHLY recommend doing that. Had chicken wings and many different places but the one thing that would separate them both would be if the chicken is frozen. The way to check this is a look at the bone after you've eaten the meat if the bone is white then the chicken has never been frozen. If the bone has any black to it then the chicken has been frozen. Duff's means a lot to me. As a born and raised Buffalonian, this for me, was always the apex of chicken wings. I remember when Sheridan Drive was the only location, and we would skip school and go for wings. When I was back in the area for the holidays this year, we stopped in for some wings and I didn't actually feel like I was "home" (for me, home is Chicago now) until I went to town on these wings. Quality has NEVER diminished, service is always excellent, and even though it was a Friday we only had to wait for like 25 mins for the table.
