After coming from Boston and having an *amazing* drycleaner there for 10 years (Holly's drycleaning in Newton), it was very difficult to find a good dry cleaners in Chicago. After a couple of years of searching, I found Ultimate Dry Cleaning. For the price, it was good. I even trusted them with special articles of clothing, such as my favorite Prada dress from my rehearsal dinner and clothes that have been purchased in Europe and are not easily replaceable, pieces that I usually take to specialty cleaners. So, when I dropped off a favorite brown dress (that my husband had bought me in Switzerland) in the late spring to have it cleaned for the summer, and I never got it back, I was shocked. I am *very* attentive to the clothes that I drop off for myself and know what I drop off and when I get it back. So, when I got home and put my clothes away, I noticed that my brown dress was not there, and I just made a mental note to pick it up next time, figuring it was just misplaced. When I went back, they acknowledged that I dropped it off but claimed they had returned it to me - citing the fact that they stapled some tags to the back of a receipt as evidence. I know, for a fact, that I did not get this dress back. I have asked about this dress 6 or 7 times since then when dropping off other items to be drycleaned, hoping they may have put it with someone else's drycleaning and that this person may have returned it. However, not only do they take no responsibility for the fact that they lost my dress, they do not think it *possible* that such a thing could happen - because this stapling technique is so foolproof. Like I mentioned, I dropped this dress off and did not get it back. What is most upsetting is not the fact that they lost the dress (I understand mistakes happen), but the fact that they would not acknowledge it and bore no responsibility. What I would have expected from a place where I have spent thousands of dollars in drycleaning over the past couple of years was some respect and acknowledgement that they could have indeed made a mistake. It would have been nice if they said, "I am sorry, it could have been our fault, we'll give you a discount on your next dry cleaning bill." THEY DIDN'T EVEN OFFER TO REIMBURSE THE COST OF THE DRESS!! I just picked up my drycleaning from this place for the last time and asked once again about my dress, and of course, they "stapled all the tags" and therefore could not possibly have made a mistake. So, while this place is a good drycleaner for the money, keep a close eye on what you drop off and pick up, because you might be one short at the end of the day ... or maybe you'll be the lucky one to pick up someone else's clothes ... who knows. Just beware. read more
