Super nice local spot, I came here to get a zipper fixed on my favourite work pants. They had it done by the time I requested the tailoring was excellent. read more

Ruined two shirts laundering. One stripe bleeding and the other a plain blue shirt came back with blue stains.

Crystal cleaners did an AMAZING job altering my wedding dress. The pricing was reasonable for a 7 layer dress that cost thousands of dollars. The lady that owns it is amazing and so sweet. I will definitely be returning to have my dressed preserved and cleaned. The alterations were perfect and timely! I only brought it in like 2 months before the wedding but she had it under control. The dress was too large and too long, and I wanted detachable cap sleeves. All of which she nail. Thank you!!!! read more

Crystal Cleaners - Sewing & Alterations Near Me - Chicago, Illinois

Got 2 items fixed (broken/split zipper and ripped seam) both broke immediately when I tested them at home.

Crystal Cleaners was great. In a pinch, I needed to bring a huge load of laundry to be completed. I looked around at fluff and fold cleaners, which Crystal Cleaners has. I took my 3 bags worth of laundry and they finished it all in less than 24 hours. The woman who I spoke with was so nice as well! I am so thankful I found this cleaner and will definitely use them for other needs I gave. read more

I went in to get two items altered and a few items cleaned. The owner was so sweet and understood exactly what I wanted with my alterations. I brought in a dress where the neckline looked like it was from 2014 and she was able to turn it into a halter top and bring the dress back to 2021. The alterations were done well and were reasonably priced. I also brought in a cream colored silk dress to be cleaned that was previously damaged/burned by another cleaner, slightly stained, and even had a few cat claw marks in it - I was shocked to find the dress was essentially back to new condition, especially since I didn't mention anything about the damages. I definitely will return for any cleaning and alterations I need! read more

I have been using Crystal Cleaners for the last 5 years, and totally recommend. In addition to the usual dry cleaning (before, of course, The Year of Softpants), I got a LOT of things hemmed and shortened or tightened ... or let out ... over the years. I thought the quality for the price was great, and it was super convenient to drop off / pick up from the Belmont station. The owner and her staff have always been very friendly. When we go back to Hardpants -- go to Crystal Cleaners! read more

Crystal Cleaners is the best of the best! The owner has done an incredible job hemming my pants, and taking in my dresses, and bridesmaid dresses. She is also very quick- she usually only needs a little more than a week, but she will also ask you when you need it by in case you're in a time crunch. Fair prices and great work. Recommend to all in the area! read more

I'm always needing clothes to be shortened, and I've finally found what I need in Crystal Cleaners! Crystal Cleaners offered a fair price for a skirt hem ($35) and an even fairer price to shorten a jumpsuit ($20). I realized on a Sunday afternoon that I needed a jumpsuit shortened, and I walked to Crystal Cleaners, told them I needed it by Thursday, and was in-and-out in less than ten minutes! Sunny (spelling?) is friendly and accommodating, and is a fantastic seamstress. With pretty quick turn-around times and an easy walk from my house, this spot is quickly becoming my #1. They're also good in a pinch for dry cleaning, though with a small shop you should be prepared to pay a bit more than the bigger corporate chains like One Price. I think it's worth it to support small businesses in our area, so I'm glad to give Crystal Cleaners my business. read more

WARNING Do not go to this place. The first time I went here I brought a White Sports jacket to get cleaned before New Years only to have to return on 3 different occasions for them to tell me "it's not ready" and then finally they told me it's ruining and wouldn't even show me what they did to my jacket. Because they are so close to my place I continued to go here and that was a big mistake. I have a shirt with buttons that no longer snap after taking it to Crystal Cleaners and another shirt with the zipper broken. Basically I'm paying this place to ruin my nice clothes for me. STAY AWAY! read more

I would avoid this place at all cost. The owner claims to be an expert in alterations but completely ruined my jacket. She was not able to shorten the sleeve and completely ruined a newly purchased jacket. If I could give zero stars, I would. read more

The best tailor in Chicago. She was able to make my dream wedding dress fit and I will forever be grateful. She loves what she does and will do her best to take care of what you need. Would definitely recommend! read more

Great cleaners ! Her alterations are exceptional and she'll treat you like family. Highly recommend.

Place is great for dry cleaning, albeit a little expensive. Pants run you around $3 and shirts are like $1.50 or so. Alterations cost $12 for pants. Great service and the woman is really nice! She even now knows my name, and I dont even go that often. Credit card charge has to be over $10, as an FYI. She is strict about this rule. I would recommend it to a friend! read more

This is my favorite cleaners by far. The female owner is so, so nice and really goes the extra mile to get all of my slobby bf's stains out. The cleaning is cheaper than I expected for the area. She does prefer that you pay cash if your order is less than 10 smackers, but will take Visa/MC otherwise. I haven't tried the tailoring yet as I usually do my own stubby leg hemming. However, there is a gold wool-lined pair of Express editors that are too difficult for my mediocre sewing skills. read more

I've only been here twice, but have had great results both times. One was for basic dry cleaning and the other was for having jeans hemmed. I get very nervous to get jeans hemmed because if they goof up, you are screwed, however they came out perfect! The only downside is it is a bit pricey..... read more

The person who dry cleaned and sewed both a white jacket (one I swore could not be fixed) and a pair of pants (pretty simple) did a rock star job on both pieces. I honestly could not believe the amazing job they did on the jacket, I even told her it didn't have to be perfect and I would settle for "better than" what I brought in. Looked good as new, both pieces. AND super reasonably priced. Very satisfied. read more

I give this place five stars. After dealing with some shady cleaners this place is a nice change. The lady is ALWAYS nice to me here. I get back everything I take in and in perfect condition. They have gotten spots out other places told me were "too tough" to try. Even spots they weren't sure about like blue ink on my pink and grey suit. The tailoring is always A+ here as well. Turn around times on everything have been more then reasonable and price has been reasonable. read more

I own nice clothing, but I am deathly afraid to wear it out at night. Anytime I wear something nice, or something that I didn't purchase from Gap or Costco, I ruin it. However, after realizing that this place can clean anything, I stopped worrying about wearing nice clothes because I knew I could get them fixed for a small price from Crystal Cleaners. I've completely ruined my nice wool coat three times and all three times they have cleaned it no problem. Great job, good prices, nice service, cleans candle wax off wool coats. 5/5. read more

I am not coming back to this dry cleaners again. When I dropped off my clothes last week, the woman who works there got a phone call in the middle of me explaining and showing her some stains on my clothes that I wanted her to try and get out. The woman proceeded to ignore me for 5 minutes (in the middle of us talking) to giggle and chat with whoever was on the phone. Today I went to pick up my clothes and two of my items were in terrible condition. One item (a silk shirt) still looked dirty and was extremely wrinkled. It had not been ironed or pressed at all! I had gotten this shirt dry cleaned multiple times before at a cleaners by my old apartment and it came back silky smooth with no wrinkles! The second item was a blazer that came back covered in lint and had a stray dark hair on the back (not mine). I took these items back to the store to share my displeasure and she tried to give me terrible excuses about how you cannot press silk. She finally said she would try to clean it again and took both items back. I'll see how they turn out when I pick them up. This place is not worth it. Their prices are expensive and you won't know how much you are going to pay until you go to pick it up. I personally appreciate it when a cleaners will write the total on my ticket when I drop off my itmes so I know how much I'm going to pay when I pick them up. There are too many other cleaners in this area that I'm sure will do a better job than this place. read more

Nice patch to my beloved jeans, done quickly! Lovely lady welcomed us. Happy to return when next jeans rip!

The absolute best in Lakeview. I've had several suits, pants, and coats tailored and every time it turns out perfect. I highly recommend this place. read more

This has been my go to for dry cleaning and alterations since I moved to the neighborhood 3 years ago. The dry cleaning is always speedy and after a few alterations, she knew exactly what I wanted and gets it done perfectly every time. When I leave the neighborhood, I will continue to come here regardless of distance or inconvenience. read more

Nice people, credit card preferred for purchases over $10. I bring clothes in here for quick mending (loose buttons, holey jeans, skirt hem) more than I do dry cleaning, and they've always done a great job with all services. Feels a little pricey, but I've negotiated before when I think it's not as much work as they suggest and we agree on a price. read more

1) The lady who owns and runs this shop is a gem; (2) I the pricing is very fair; (3) they do a wonderful job. All around great dry cleaner in the neighborhood. read more

Always do a great job with my work clothes and perfect with alterations! This is my go-to place for cleaning and alterations even though it's a bit out of the way from me. Fair prices and quick service. read more

This is where I take all of my dry cleaning. The woman is always very nice and accommodating. Of course, I always try to make a point to pay cash. The first couple of times, I stood there awkwardly waiting for my ticket, and she will give you one if you ask. Now I just ask for my total (who wants more receipts to shove in their purses/pockets). My husband left something in his suit pocket once and she had it in a baggie when I went to pick it up. She has also done some alterations on his suits and a pair of my jeans and she did a great job! read more

Dropped off 4 shirts to get dry cleaned. Got 4 shirts back -- 3 of which were mine, one of which was not. Immediately told the owner that there was a mistake. She insisted that she gave me back the correct clothing. She pulled out some grainy footage that showed me dropping off my clothing, which proved absolutely nothing one way or the other. Unfortunately I can't prove anything, so I'm now the proud owner of an Eddie Bauer button down shirt that was never mine to begin with. As for my missing Under Armour button down shirt, I'm assuming I'll never see it again. It's a real bummer since it was one of my favorite shirts. I had been coming here since moving to the neighborhood a few months ago and the owner has always been really nice, but it really leaves a bitter taste in that she refuses to admit when a mistake was made or make it right. Giving me a shirt that wasn't mine to begin with does not make it right. Implying that I 'could have left the shirt at a friend's place' isn't right either. I entrusted this business with my clothing and they failed to deliver. There are greater tragedies in the world than a missing shirt and I definitely don't want to play a role in ruining this lady's livelihood -- but I'd caution people to be aware of what they drop off and get in return. If they lose your clothes, good luck trying to get it back. read more

I don't know about the cleaners part but the shoe repair - never! I've never been so upset with a service. I dropped my favorite pair of heels off on Thursday at 7 am. Saturday afternoon I get a call that they can't fix my shoes but don't say why. I go to pick them up- they cracked my heel off and said I dropped them off that way. NO I DID NOT! So they broke my shoes, blamed me and did NOTHING for me. I WILL NEVER GO THERE FOR ANYTHING!!!!!!!!!!! read more

DO NOT take your clothing here. I took in two $120 dresses to get altered. They COMPLETELY ruined them to the point that I can no longer wear them. I went back in to see if they would fix it. They said they would try and put it back to the original but not give me any money back. So now I'm out $80 + $120 + $120 just because they could not do their job correctly. I've been to many cleaners and never had a problem. Ever. I'm not picky. This is horrendous. read more

Lost one of my $95 fire resistant shirts for work. They left me hanging for weeks on its whereabouts and told me that they would take care of charges for any other laundry I brought in the mean-time. Once they gave up on finding it (I had to constantly call and follow up), they paid for the shirt but not the $18 in adjustments they made to it when previously cleaned. They then back-charged me for the laundry they said they would take care of. When expressing concerns about how things turned out, their lack of apathy, and general carelessness, they woman ignored me - saying nothing - and refused to even make eye contact. I'm going somewhere else. read more

Favorite dry cleaners I've used in the city... it's cheap, it's fast and they do a great job. Now if I could only do something about the fact I no longer live close... read more
