When I asked if that timeline was possible, I was told they think they could get it done -- not a definite yes. At checkout, I was also surprised to learn that hemming starts at $100. This seemed excessive for a simple, form-fitting polyester dress that only needed about five inches removed. Because of the high cost and lack of certainty, I decided to go elsewhere. read more

They're always smiling and happy to see their clients as they walk them through the fitting process. A while back, my son needed alterations for his new suit, in preparation for an interview. Being a bodybuilder, his physique presented unique challenges. The finished product was quite impressive, and he looked like a million $$$ (He got the job and has since been promoted) They've done my daughter's communion dress, a dress for a wedding, and several of my slacks. We first found this place because my wife bought some items from Maria Pinto and they recommended them. However, once we did, Tom and Gus became our "go-to" guys for alterations of all sorts. I lost quite a bit of weight and needed substantial alterations to many suits and coats. By the time they were done, I had a whole new wardrobe that looked fantastic. I was very pleased with the way my bridesmaid dress turned out from them. When I originally brought my dress in and the gentleman pinned the spots to take it in, I asked if he thought it was taken in enough or if it needed more. He explained that you don't want the dress to be too tight, otherwise you can't move around in it easily. I was a little hesitant and worried that the dress would still be too loose, but it ended up fitting absolutely perfectly! I had also asked about sewing in cups so that I didn't have to wear a bra, so he gave me a pair to place in the dress to see what they looked like. I put them in and asked their opinions - they all said it didn't make much of a difference and that the cost to have them put in wouldn't be worth it. I SO appreciated that feedback! I really love when places do not push you to do more services than necessary. While they weren't the warmest and friendliest people behind the counter, they still did really great work. Only 4 stars because to have them take in the dress and shorten it, it was $80. I haven't had enough dresses altered to know if that's typical for alterations, but it still seems SO steep to me. read more

I recently brought a bridesmaid dress here to be shortened and wasn't pleased! When you're a bridesmaid, you do what you're told. So when the dress store recommended this place for alterations, this is where I came. They were polite at first, but they measured me hastily and told me it would cost $50 in cash for the simple alterations. At this point, I was already committed, so I agreed and left the dress. The only upside of the experience is that they text you when your alterations are ready. Very convenient, especially for millennials who avoid phone calls as much as possible. When I came back to pick up the dress, they had barely shortened it, so the front was still touching the floor. When I expressed slight concern, I was told "It's fine. This is how it's supposed to be. That'll be $55." I refused to pay any more than $50 (just on principle.) They accepted, and I left. Luckily, I found some taller shoes and needless to say, I won't be returning. read more

We came here initially to have pants tailored and then ended up doing our dry cleaning as well out of convenience. I honestly don't see what all the praise is about. They're cash only which I think is ridiculous. And no one ever smiles here. It's weird. Their unfriendliness actually made me start taking my dry cleaning elsewhere. It was awkward dropping off clothes; they all (if they look up) just give you a blank stare and whoever interacts with you is so dry you just can't wait to get out. The last time I was there my car broke down and I asked if they had jumper cables - they didn't (fine, they don't drive) but maybe try and help? No offer for anything and then I waited 1.5 hours for a tow truck to come and jump my car. read more

I'm super upset that I have to write this review after reading all of these amazing reviews. I really wanted to make this place my 'go-to' dry cleaners. This past week was my first time here. I dropped off my fiance's suit to get cleaned and a bridesmaid dress to get pressed. Receipt said it would be ready at Thursday at 5. We had to leave Friday morning for the wedding (i.e. with the bridesmaid dress), so we thought it'd just be easiest to swing by there on our way out of town. I walk in Friday morning, and they can't find my bridesmaid dress. Anywhere. They said they send out clothes to be pressed and do not do it in-house. Keep in mind that they had between Thursday at 5 PM - Friday 10 AM to inform me that they can't find the dress. After 30 minutes of them looking around the store, them calling their driver, and calling the company that actually presses it, they still can't find it. Introducing me freaking out in a dry cleaner. We are now running late -- I'd be damned to be late to the rehearsal because of their mistake. I then looked up and saw my garmet bag that I dropped off my dress in. I said "that is my garmet bag right there -- is there any chance it could be in there?" Fancy that, it was in there the whole time. They never sent it out to be pressed. He said "give me 10 minutes, I can steam it." Obviously this would look nowhere near as good as it would pressed, but I suppose it was better than nothing. It was then what shocked me the most. He rang me up for the suit, and had the audacity to charge me the full pressing price. I completely understand that it was literally like $5.00, but really?! I called him out on it, and he said "ugh ok, $10 for everything." Stay away. There are plenty of wonderful dry cleaners in this city. read more

No. no. no. I should be able to rate them with negative stars. Why? They managed to ruin my Yelp event before I was even able to attend. That's right, I took some clothes here for the White Hot Nights event in Naperville and wow... what a terrible job. I want to say they didn't do anything at all, but I can't...because the clothes are actually more wrinkled then when I took them in (so, nothing would have been an improvement over what ever took place). It seems I basically paid them $7.50 to ball them up and place them on one of their hangers. Sweet. Now I don't even have enough time to go somewhere else and have them do a proper job. Probably one of my most embarrassing moments has taken place here. While getting a bridesmaids dress fitted, I fainted :( The employees were so nice to me! One of them ran over to Starbucks and grabbed me a bottled water and they had me sit down and relax before leaving. I cannot recommend this place enough. They are super nice and helpful. A great family run business, they do repairs onsite and have little ladies that sew, reminds me of my Grandma. I used this shop mainly for my business shirts. Shirts came out beautifully every time I picked up. The collars and cuffs are crisply pressed and free of stains. The machine they used for the pressing must be very gentle on buttons. Main complaints about shirts, broken cuff buttons, did not happen here. Overall I love this business. I have lived in Logan Square, Lincoln Square, and Lincoln Park and this is the best dry cleaner I have found in any of the neighborhoods. Positives: 1)Fairly priced, relatively low in cost 2)Dry clean retains colors and doesnt fade like i have experienced with other dc's 3)Offer Laundry for $1/lb. This is actually very affordable at about $30/month. They wash, iron, and fold all laundry. 4)Friendly. I came about 20 min late past when they closed and the guy let me in. Plus he let me have a free laundry bag. 5)They have changing rooms for alterations. No standing awkwardly behind a make shift changing room/curtain. 6)They have the digital system so you dont need to save your ticket. Well, everyone there is very nice and they were on time with the alterations that I needed for a bridesmaid gown. However. They didn't make the alterations we discussed. I needed the dress let out. They were going to take fabric from the bottom of the dress to let the dress out. They didn't. They let it out with the spare fabric in the seams but this wasn't enough and the dress was still too small. For some reason they still too fabric from the bottom of the dress, even though they didn't use it, and they took far more than we discussed. So this dress was not only too small but also too short and I looked ridiculous the entire night. In my mind I thought 'well I can't possibly look that bad' until I saw the photos this morning. I would not recommend them for anything special occasion related, no matter what the 5 star reviews say. It isn't worth the risk. read more

The price for both dry cleaning and alterations are priced fairly compared to other dry cleaners. Like any other dry cleaners, be sure to point out any stains at drop off. I've never been disappointed with their service or anything I've had altered. I'm short, so I have a lot of dresses, sleeves, pants and skirts shortened. My girlfriend needed a dress altered at the very last minute. This was one of the only places open until 7 on a Saturday(Yelp's "open now" feature helped here). We called at 6:15 and they said, "sure, if you can make it". We hustled over there and the guy was awesome. Fixed her dress *and* took the time to make suggestions for additional alterations that made it look even better.
