    Nice bfast buffet selection
    Joe P.

Ulana is the all day dining option at the Ritz in Kapalua. I ate here twice bc a bfast buffet was included with the room. The buffet included your standard made to order omelettes, bacon, sausage, pancakes, waffles, smoked salmon w/ bagels, et al. In addition, there was a lot of firm, fresh fruit. Papaya at most buffets tends to be mushy. However, what was noticeably missing was Azn items like miso soup, rice and passable dumplings. The dumplings and har gow I ate were pretty bad. They had no flavor. The ambiance was very nice w/ a view of the pool and beach. Normally I would rate Ulana 3-4 Stars bc the food was good, not great. However, the service fr Amy was so outstanding I am going to rate 5 Stars. From her greeting of Aloha kakahiaka (good morning), to her attentiveness, and overall niceness, she made me feel at home. Lorrie at the front desk was also super nice, and remembered our names when we checked in on the second day. Do visit Ulana for good food, a nice view, and a lot of aloha fr the staff, especially Amy.

Made breakfast reservations but still had to wait for the window table as requested. Amy was an amazingly attentive and patient Server. We thoroughly enjoyed our breakfast (breakfast ramen, smoked salmon/hash browns and breakfast buffet). All of the food options were quality.

My husband and I ate at Ulana Terrace twice while on our vacation. We ordered off of the menu for the first day as the buffet was closed, the banana macadamia pancakes were very good and the loco moco was decent. We did the buffet the next day and I think it's pretty good for the price, I think it was $58 pp. They had a variety of different options which covered all dietary needs. The omelette station and the guava filled pastry bites were my favorite. Definitely worth checking out!

Ah, the Ritz. Get there early to get a prime seat by the window, for a view of the ocean and whales breaching (we were there in early February). Ask for lilikoi butter and spread it on everything. Nice selection of baked goods, hot items, fruit (fresh papayas!!), avocado toast, charcuterie, juice, salad, lox and bagels. On the smaller side for selections, but quality. Asian side and American side. Omelette station. Our stay came w/ a $100 resort credit/day. Brunch is about $50/person, so it was a delicious way to spend our credit. Service was friendly and efficient.

A breakfast buffet with an abundance of food to satisfy any craving. You got your eggs, bacon, omelette options, endless pastries, and so much more - plenty of sweet and savory options. I suggest coming in as soon as they open at 6:30 to get a table with a view. Service is fast and staff are very friendly. It starts off quiet, but definitely gets louder as they fill up.

It's okay. $100 dollar including tips for 2 is very expensive for okay breakfast. No WOW factor, very crowded. The food are beautifully displayed. But biting into them does not give you the impression that this is a 5-star hotel. It is nothing you won't get from a supermarket. Even the view, it is nice, but this is Hawai'i, it is nice anywhere you go. Free valet parking, tips are expected. People seem to be very hungry this morning, they are grabbing food like it wasn't going to be enough. Never expected the Ritz to be so crowded. A sign of a good economy, or over spending?

We tried the $48 AYCE buffet option at the restaurant. This brunch spot is located within Ritz Carlton hotel, facing the beautiful swimming pool and ocean. We had a nice window view from our table. There are three main areas, 1) hot brunch section (fresh catch of the day, Cha Shao bao, fried rice, grilled vegetables, and egg benedict); 2) your complimentary breakfast section (scrambled egg, sausage, potatoes etc); 3) make your own omelette section What I liked about this brunch spot was mainly because of the various fruit options. The sliced papaya was really good, extremely sweet. The watermelon was okay. There's also pineapple, black berries, strawberries, and yogurt. You can also get coffee, oatmeal, toasted bread, and make your own salad with smoked salmon. I recommend to come here to try the brunch if you are staying at the Ritz Carlton hotel just for the convenience. I really liked the fruit section, especially papaya and the egg benedict. The fresh catch of the day (fish) was meh, wish it was seared ahi or grilled Mahi Mahi.

Delicious!!! Best breakfast buffet I have had in a long time! The views are breathtaking and the food is the perfect blend of Hawaiian traditional and American. You can order a la carte, but honestly we couldn't decide what one item to try so the buffet was the best option! The avocado toast was out of this world, I tried the fresh veggie one and honestly I'm shocked I got a photo bc I ate it so fast. The chia parfait was both sweet and fresh at the same time! My boyfriend loved the fried rice and chorizo like sausage combo. He was also able to order a side of egg white to accompany them. Even the pastries were super fresh and tasty, a wide range of fresh local jams on the table to go on top. I was a particular fan of the French toast with fresh local organic syrup as well. Definitely have the fresh Kona coffee and try the pineapple orange guava juie

    Ice cold couldn't eat for $50 ???

Total disappointment Concept-of virtual Buffett was ok but why? Waited over an hour before getting any food . Then one of our party got his and 2 of remained without. I felt really sorry for our server Amy she did the best she could. When we finally received our breakfast it was ice cold for $50....we did get credited with our breakfast so I Changed my rating to 3 stars because they did make effort to resolve

Really good buffet, but you are going to put resort fees. We really enjoyed our meal, but it was over a 100 dollars for breakfast for 2 people. This place needs to cut their prices in half or include alcohol in the prices. I'm giving it a 4 star because we did order a round of mimosas and the waiter forgot them. It was all good, but otherwise I'd give it a 5 star as it was a very nice breakfast. I just wish it had cost a little less.

    Ahhmazing banana bread!!!!!

Pure bliss for me is rolling out of bed in a luxury hotel, walking down the hall, and simply taking an elevator downstairs to sit down to a lavish buffet breakfast. So, how could I not try this during my 10-night stay at the Ritz on Kapalua, just a few months ago in October? Actually, I ended up indulging here twice for the beautiful views and of course, for their fantastic Famous Banana Bread. ***FOOD & SETTING*** The contemporary modern setting and spectacular views to match, along with the convenience is why I'd recommend dining here. The food is tastefully presented and good overall. That said, it's not exactly 5-star stellar for $42/pp, or over $50.00/pp with tip and tax for essentially a breakfast. The standard breakfast fare, the tropical fruit spread, and the desserts were good. It's a mix of hits and misses. I'd definitely pass on the Asian noodles. However, the star of the show for me was their Famous Bread. It was partly the reason why I came a second time. Think of the best banana bread you've had, and multiply that by 5 times in greatness. Yes, it was THAT amazing! It was so incredibly moist and banana scented and flavored. ***DISAPPOINTING SERVICE*** Service is spotty. I had wonderful friendly servers on both visits, but the folks working the food stations just didn't seem like they were there to please their customers. Also, about a half-hour, before they closed, they "ran out" of their Famous Banana Bread. I came here the second time largely just for this! The kitchen staff insisted they were out and brushed me off. Where there's a will, there's a way though, and I KNEW there was a way they could track at least one piece down! I'm a pretty persistent gal who doesn't give up, and after speaking with four different workers, I suggested to my waiter that he snag a slice from the cafe downstairs. He kindly returned with three slices of their delicious Famous Banana Bread. Whew! I was definitely very appreciative. Yet, a customer shouldn't need to go through multiple hoops for a slice of banana bread and left feeling as if they've imposed themselves, especially when they're paying good money for the buffet and forking over even more $$$$$ to stay at a Ritz property. I've experienced much better service at other hotel restaurants of this caliber and have received much better service at restaurants while staying at other Ritz properties. The Ulana is only open for breakfast. They close at 10:30am on the weekdays and 11 am on the weekends, so the early bird gets the worm. You can opt to go the a la carte route, but by spending just a little more, you have access to the entire buffet selection. Although I came twice during my stay, in retrospect, I'd definitely return, but only if I was staying on the property again. If you do come, I'd say to definitely do the buffet, and don't miss out on their Famous Banana Bread!

All of the reservation times during sunset were taken, so we ate a little earlier but still managed to see the sunset as we were leaving. The views from this restaurant are absolutely breathtaking. We even got to experience a light rain shower followed by a beautiful rainbow while we were there. Our server was Tim, who was beyond kind, attentive, and engaging. He displayed some of the best hospitality I have ever experienced at a restaurant. He made wonderful recommendations and truly made us feel so special celebrating our soon-to-be baby. To start, we ordered the tako (octopus); it was served in the manner in which escargot is - tons of butter and garlic, and paired well with wonderful fresh-baked bread. For our entrées, both my husband and I did a duo where we could pick two smaller portions of the entrée dishes. I did a duo with the fresh lobster and lamb special, while my husband did a duo with the fish pasta special and the curry scallops. All four entrées were absolutely divine, and we thoroughly enjoyed getting to sample a little bit of everything from the menu. To wrap things up, we had to try the infamous pineapple macadamia nut bread pudding with salted caramel, and they even gave us a complementary dessert for our babymoon, which was their take on a s'more. Both desserts were phenomenal, but I could have easily eaten two helpings of the pineapple macadamia nut bread pudding. If you find yourself in Maui and have the opportunity to make a reservation at Merriman's in Kapalua, I cannot recommend it enough as this was one of those meals that my husband and I will be talking about for a very long time.

For starters, the tako (octopus) escargot (instead of snails) was so good! Ceviche was also great. I had the highly recommended shrimp and pork chow fun for entree. It's slightly different from the Chinese style chow fun in the sauce. The shrimp were cut up in small pieces. The pork was actually spicy sausage, so it should've been more specific on the menu. The sausage made the dish greasier and saltier than it has to be. I didn't like it. My husband had the pork quesadilla that had great flavors but a bit soggy. Daughter had the ahi tuna. She's had a lot of tuna dishes on this trip, but didn't like this dish as much especially the wasabi soy sauce. Son had the crispy pork shank, and that was very good! Falling off the bone tender, nice tropical salsa to balance the rich flavors. The bread pudding with ice cream was a lovely finish. Service was excellent.
