From the moment we walked in, the lady at the front made us feel right at home with her warm hospitality. We struck up a lovely conversation and discovered a small-world connection--her son attended Chapman University in Orange, which was just a quick 12-minute drive from where I used to live in Fullerton, CA! It's those personal touches that make a dining experience truly special. ​As for the food, everyone in our group ordered something different and loved their meals, but the standout favorites were definitely on my plate. I was really craving the Loco Moco dish for my trip to Hawaii, and this restaurant answered my prayers. It was towards the end of our trip already, and I hadn't had it yet. Finally I looked up Loco Loco on Yelp, and found this place. My Loco Moco was AMAZING. It had the right amount of gravy, hamburger steak, runny fried egg on top...simply what I wanted and was craving for so long! I don't know why it's so hard to find and replicate in the States. I'm so glad I had it here though! We got pancakes for our daughter too, which were pretty good. My husband got some Kalua Pork Benedict that he thought was just okay, nothing special. Service was a slow to order - there is only one cashier to order from, and a snaking line. I think we did get our food at a decent time frame though after ordering. Parking is super easy, as this is located within a strip mall. The ambiance inside is quite surprisingly cozy, a charming cafe with high ceilings, and feels clean. My only issue was that they messed up my order twice, and when they gave me the correct food, it was burnt. Came @ 8 am for breakfast on a Thursday and surprised it was not as crowded as I remembered. That was also a few years ago. Casual dining, order/pay first and find your own seating. Ordered the loco moco. Good flavoring, but the beef patty was a bit tough & dry. Had it not been for the gravy saving it.... The So Ono macadamia nut coconut cream ice coffee is a nice sweet drink, if that's what you like. But if you like a coffee drink that actually tastes like coffee and want something stronger, skip this drink and just order plain coffee. Also ordered the meat lover breakfast. It's decent. This was one of our favorite meals during our last Maui trip! We ordered Banana Mac Nut Pancakes, Traditional Loco Moco, and Corned Beef Hash. We also got the POG juice and brewed coffee. This place was so amazing! My boyfriend and I got super hungry and was riding around to find something to eat and stumbled across this place and I will definitely recommended to anybody! When we entered into the restaurant, they're very welcoming and patient the food was very good and you can tell that it was homemade the biscuits were my favorite. The biscuits were so soft and homemade and everything very well seasoned. My boyfriend had the fried rice pork chop and he said it was very good. It was also very good too. I enjoyed his just as much as he did. It was super perfection and also cooked very well. I also have the mango lemonade which is not pictured it was very good not too sweet. You're not too bland. We stopped by Kihei Caffe around 9AM and there was a long line, (definitely peak breakfast time), but it moved efficiently. Once we ordered, the food came out in about 5-10 minutes, and we wrapped up the whole meal within 45 minutes. Super efficient for how busy they were. We tried the Loco Moco with kalua pork. The kalua pork was lightly salted but was missing that deeper smoky flavor I usually prefer. Still comforting overall, just not as bold as expected. We also ordered two fresh corned beef hash plates with sunny side up eggs, supreme style. The corned beef hash was crispy and smoky with great texture, and paired perfectly with the runny yolks. The only real gripe I have is that I ordered some fried chicken and it was a real tiny piece, though still ultra crispy. It's not outright pricy but the cost can add up quickly. I do wish there was a clear way on getting refills or a coffee station where you can pour your coffee yourself. But still their food is phenomenal and their people are nice and fast paced. Came during a historical storm and it was just the respite we needed from the rain. We got an everything bagel and lox, chocolate chip pancakes with a side of bacon and eggs, mochi pancakes for myself, and my husband and I each got an iced cold brew with macnut, honey and cinnamon. Lots of positives: -Opens early: Good for early risers still stuck in their time zone -Lines move well: They keep thing moving. -Large seating area: Unlike lots of small places in Maui,this place has plenty of seating. -Good Food: Their loco moco was tasty. During my birthday weekend, we spontaneously decided to check out the Lahaina location of Kihei Caffe at Lahaina Gateway. The original location in Kihei earned a loyal following with its no-frills, hearty breakfasts and this second outpost brings the same local flavor and laid-back charm to the west side. Here they've also expanded their traditional menu and added new options. They are open daily from 6am to 2pm with breakfast served all day. You'll find breakfast classics like Southern biscuits and gravy, huevos rancheros, steak and eggs, and of course, loco moco (a local favorite). We arrived to find a line stretching almost out the door which almost made us turn back, but to our surprise, it moved quickly. Their counter-ordering system keeps the flow smooth: you place your order first, grab a table, then they call it your order when ready. Just a short while later, we were digging into our breakfast spread. We went with a mix of local favorites and house specials: the loco moco, corned beef hash with fried rice, banana mac nut French toast, and a sweet potato scone to save for later. The corned beef hash was the standout--crispy edges, savory flavor, and a perfect pairing with the fried rice. This was our favorite dish of the bunch. The French toast was also a tasty choice--thick, indulgent, and rich with banana and macadamia nut flavor. It's definitely a dish to share with the whole table as the serving is pretty large. The loco moco didn't quite wow us--the beef patty was tough and tasted store bought--which was quite a let down as I thought this was one of the things that always looked so good on their social media posts. We enjoyed everything else on the table though and the friendly service also added to the experience. One of the bussers went out of their way to help us find seating and did it with such genuine warmth that it added a layer of aloha to the whole morning. It's the kind of little gestures that stay with you and really made an impression as he was kind to not only me, but every other guest that crossed his path. I wish I could remember his name! I'll admit, I usually steer clear of spots that are very touristy--but I'm glad we made the exception. Im not eating red meat so I ordered chicken sausage and cakes. 2 cakes fill the plate and was quite filling. My wife had the corn beef, definitely recommend as its home made. It was such a pleasant dining experience at the Kihei Caffe compared to our previous dining experience in the Lahaina area. When we stepped into the shop, we were greeted with clean and spacious dining area, relaxing music and friendly staff. We quickly placed our order and they delivered the food right to our table. It was difficult to decide what to order since everything looked so good. We finally settled on the Loco Moco, the Mochi Ube pancakes, fresh pineapple juice, cold brew and house drip coffee. We are happy to say that everything tasted awesome! The loco moco was tasty as the rice and egg were perfectly cooked, the burger was flavorful and the sauce was just right. My husband enjoyed his mochi Ube pancakes as they were crispy on the outside and chewy in the inside. 1/25/26 I watch a lot of shows located in Hawaii and am always hearing about a local dish called Loco Moco.....Steamed Rice and a Burger Patty smothered with Gravy and topped with a egg.. On my recent visit to Maui I made it a point to try this dish. My friend is a local and he told me that the best on the island is at Kīhei Caffe. So on a snorkeling trip to Lahaina we stopped in for brunch. The Loco Moco was as good as I had heard. They offer a couple different versions and I decided to go with the Kailua Pork, it sounded better than a Burger Patty. Delicious! A monstrous plate of fluffy Steamed Rice piled high with tender, smoky Kailua Pork, lots of tasty Brown Gravy and 2 perfectly cooked over-medium eggs on top! Lots of flavors meld and really pull this dish together. And the plate was so full that I actually got 3 meals out of it! My buddy had a Breakfast Burrito that was massive, and he raved about all day. It was a great experience and I highly recommend this spot for the Moco! read more

Service was great and welcoming. Bathrooms were clean. Plenty of seating and parking. Okay, the reason, this location did not get 5 stars was because of the eggs. They were awful for me. We ordered soft scrambled eggs. What we received was dried eggs with cheese sprinkled on the top. We sent them back and received with super runny eggs. For me, they were inedible. It was a disappointment. The grits were too salty so I was not able to finished my bowl again I was disappointed. But the catfish was fire!!! Soooo delicious. I won't be in a hurry to return to this location in the future. You know, food is too expensive for me to waste my time.
