After 20 minutes, they called my name for a to-go order. I informed them that it was for here. On this cold winter day, I was expecting a piping hot bowl of pho to warm my frozen heart. So when I and my friend walked in we weren't greeted. Even though we have to order ourselve I think is the right thing to say hello or welcome but nope I haven't heard anything from those two ladies working at the register. I ordered crispy spring roll (vegetarian), Two wheels pho, parmesan truffle fries, vermicelli with sugarcane shrimp, also thai ice tea. Was gonna order the daily dessert selection but NOPE THEY DONT HAVE IT, after my two food came out the girl is like I dont have crispy spring roll vegetarian it would have been great if she told me before I placed the order with her. It would also be good if you have more vegan option available, because a lot of people can't have meat, or chicken. Vegan broth.. My friend is obsessed with pho but he couldn't get the pho because it was with beef broth. All the food was good which I will definitely come by next time to try other food from their menu. But the vermicelli bowl it comes inside the paper bowls and the amount they give little as compare to other places. Also the sugarcane shrimp (7 pieces for $1.50) and the shrimp weren't warm. The pho itself is amazing, but the bag of toppings is often too wet which wilts the herbs and doesn't have nearly enough onion, if any. Yes yes yes! Two Wheels is fab. My husband and I came in for lunch on a Sunday. The space is clean, modern, and bright. After placing our orders, we were worried we wouldn't have a spot to sit at, but luckily a table opened up just in time (I can see this being an issue, where a line for a table forms and/or customers are forced to take their orders to-go because of the lack of space). We got: -vermicelli bowl with lemongrass chicken: delicious, fresh! -pho with meatballs and steak: broth was perfect, meatballs were a standout! -Vietnamese iced coffee: OMG AMAZING We will definitely be back!! I dont normally give 1 star but... We Went to Two Wheels today Friday at about 8PM and there's a small line for a table, One table in front of us. Waited about 30min and went to the front to grab some water and i asked the cashier what was the most popular Pho dish and her answers was " Pho we don't have any, we sold the last Pho a while ago"  now when i first entered the restaurant she told me there was a line... she could have mention that they were out of Pho. I can't give more stars because I cant even taste the Pho. If you blink, you may miss Two Wheels on Amsterdam and 80th Street. It is a teeny tiny restaurant, more like a storefront, that has tables along a wall for maximum 10-12 people. The menu is compact and tight, with recognizable Vietnamese fare [pho, banh mi] on it. Let's be real, this is the family friendly Upper West Side, how out of the box can you really get? Popped in around 6PM this weekend with my boyfriend. Every table was taken but there seems to be high turnover. The food comes out fairly quickly. We each had the Two Wheels pho [$11.95 for one meat], his with beef, mine with brisket. This is more of a traditional pho with rice noodles in a broth with typical accoutrements of sprouts, scallions, herbs, etc. The portions are huge. There's copious amounts of beef broth and noodles. The broth was nice but lacked a beefy umami flavor I would want to keep me coming back for more. I also found that they were a little skimpy on the brisket, which in and of itself was tender and tasty. We also shared the Vietnamese wings [$9.95 for six] and the Parmesan truffle fries [$7.95]. I would come back for the chicken wings alone. They were sauced and sticky with a generous amount of glaze. They also came out piping hot, I was so eager to tear into it, I definitely burned my fingerprints off. Worth it. The Parmesan truffle fries were good. They are waffle fries and fried to crispy perfection. But they're just fries, you can get these elsewhere on the Upper West Side. My boyfriend also got the Vietnamese Iced Coffee [$4.50]. It was out of this world. At first sip is a chocolate, caramel flavor but as it hits the back of your throat, there's a smoky burnt undertone. If it wasn't so late in the day, I would have ordered one myself. The bill came out to about $50. I would come back, especially for the iced coffee. I'm down to try the banh mi. My first banh mi on the East Coast and it was disappointing. The pickled veggies were meh and the "artisanal" bread was too crunchy. The ingredients were fresh with heaping portions of meat (hence the 3 stars). Also, if you like a spicy aftertaste with all of the proteins, this may be a 4 star. Went for the first time recently. Was excited to try it but it ended up being a disappointment. Flavors were not there, it honestly felt like someone who had never had viet food before make it and it was expensive for what it was. As a West Coast Vietnamese American, I'm always looking to find the best Vietnamese options within the city. This restaurant is one of the more recent additions to the Upper West Side, which has slowly become a better hub for decent Vietnamese options between Saiguette, Mekong, and Pho Shop. I've been to Two Wheels multiple times and have had a diverse range of experiences. Pho (1 star) - This was the biggest disappointment of them all. The watery chicken soup-like base tastes nothing at all like the real thing. I think they're going for something more fusion-y but I think it's a crime to sell this thing and call it Pho. If it hadn't been for trying out the other items my party ordered, I would have never come here again. Banh Mi (5 stars) - Huge meat portions. I'd say that the size of this thing rivals even Saiguette in terms of value. If you only order one thing from this restaurant, it should be this one. Vermicelli Bowl (4 stars) - Perfectly solid interpretation of this classic dish where it's a little more like a fancy salad that you would get from an upscale restaurant, but unlike the Pho it works out better here. It feels like a healthy choice. The only reason it loses a star is because the nuoc mam sauce has jalapenos chopped up inside of it. This is an interesting choice that works for some people, but unfortunately doesn't sit right with my stomach. I've ordered it again and asked them for nuoc mam that didn't have the jalapenos, but they actually didn't have that option available and the best they could do was just remove the jalapenos from the container they gave me. So all in all, this is a tough review to write because I want to support more Vietnamese businesses in the area and there's a lot to like. You should just tread with caution and head to one of the other Vietnamese restaurants if you're looking for quality Pho. read more

Great comfort food when you're too lazy to take a trip down to Chinatown. I love the noodles and pho broth. The meat variety is a little different than your traditional eye of round, tendon, and tripe but you have your choice of steak, meatball, and brisket. I loved the parmesan truffle fries but it would be nice if they noted it had spices in it. My 4 yr old was eating it until she complained it was too spicy, but she took it like a champ. The sriracha is watered down/diluted presumably for cost savings? The spring rolls came with a nuoc cham that had ok flavor hut it too was extremely watered down. The viet iced coffee was decent and you could tell it had a bit of strength but there was a distinct odd taste that I can't discern. This place was really a diamond in the rough that I had never heard of until casually wanting a sandwich for lunch with friends. We all had signature Báhn Mì sandwiches, 2 with pork and 1 with chicken. They were all very large and tasted amazing. I had the Lychee sparkling water and it was very good, had never gotten the brand they offered before and it was very flavorful. The Thai Iced Coffee and Thai Iced Tea were both good as you would expect. The Coffee tasted a bit like chocolate milk and the tea was sweet with the expected Thai tea flavor. The Parmesan truffle fries were almost too large but we managed to finish them. Paired with dipping sauces it was great. I enjoyed the peanut dip on my Báhn Mì as well.
