Yummm yummm yummm!!! Best way to start my chilly NYC trip. Small and quaint restaurants and broth was sooo good. Quick service and didn't have to wait long for a table.

Tofu, Mushrooms, Broccoli, and Baby Corn Pho!
Jelissa M.

Stopped by Pho Amsterdam in Harlem and really enjoyed my meal. I had the beef banh mi sandwich and the veggie pho with tofu, mushrooms, baby corn, and broccoli. I added some spice (of course), and it was so comforting and flavorful. Definitely a good spot when you're craving something warm and filling.

This place is a solid solid 10/10. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Huge portions, quick service, lots of seating.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Delicious heart warming broth, honestly was such a good start to the day getting lunch here with my boy Chon.

It was a chilly rainy day and I contemplated getting the Pho but I knew I wouldn't be able to finish it all so I went for a bahn mi. Toasty Bread and flavorful fillings and pickles I can't complain. Service was very quick and attentive . I do wish they had more drink options and teas. I'll be back for the pho!

Beef Flank & Brisket Pho

Food 5/10 The duck spring rolls were fun to try. The beef flank and brisket pho was quite mid. The broth was solid, but the noodle texture was quite subpar. It did satisfy my desire for soup though. Atmosphere 5/10 Felt a little drafty. Service 5/10 Didn't feel the most welcoming. Also took a while to come circle back for our order when we weren't ready the first time around.

Saw this place recently opened up near my work area. Was hesitant to try as I know a lot of places do pho and what not but it is not authentic. Decided to try the banh mi as a starter and as expected, nothing compared to the places in Chinatown or flushing. Came back to try the pho a month later and it was alright at best. While the pho broth is not super flavorful, the portion size is decent which I liked. They gave me a lot of broth in my take out container. The noodles and meat were repeated from the broth which I appreciate.

Grill pork Vermicelli Noodle Salad

Had the Grill pork Vermicelli Noodle Salad and Brisket Pho. Both were good except the brisket was a bit small and a bit harder to chew. Service was quick and attentive. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Shop was modern with traditional Asian vibe theme.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

Solid Vietnamese spot on north side of Columbia's campus! My favorite was the vermicelli - I'd order this again. The bahn mi and pho were fine. We also had the catfish rice dish. You don't often see catfish on the menu. I wish the spring rolls had the rice paper wrappers - these were skippable. Service was friendly and attentive. The restaurant is clean but the tables still smelled like veneer - maybe this will wear off. Overall solid spot for a warm bowl of pho and a Vietnamese food craving!

Tofu pho (with mushroom, baby corn and broccoli) $16

Omg I am so elated by this addition to the neighborhood. I am from California and have been searching for good pho in the city and I can't believe I've finally found it AND it's literally next door to me!! When I initially arrived, I was greeted by a sweet woman and a beautiful, clean restaurant. I quickly placed my order and was shocked (and skeptical) with how quick it came but that was immediately replaced with happiness when I realized how good it was. The broth was sooo flavorful and every bite was so delicious. It's served in a large bowl, which is nice so that it doesn't overflow when adding things in and it's also such a good amount- I couldn't even finish the entire thing. Thai tea was also delicious and the service was great-- I cannot wait to come back and try their other menu items!!

Vegetarian Steam Dumpling

Vegetable dumplings were great. Tofu & mushroom Banh Mi was delicious-- bread was perfect and the filling was flavored well. Beef Banh Mi was super tasty as well. Great food for the price! Waitress was very friendly too

The service was friendly and quick. The Pho was good, but I was hoping for a little more flavor in the broth.

I got the pho ($21.78), which is steep for pho, but I guess that's Midtown prices for you. The wait was a slog--over 20 minutes for a bowl of pho, which other Yelp reviews warned about. When it finally arrived, the soup lacked that authentic pho aroma, which was a letdown. On the plus side, the beef was fresh, and the reusable to-go bag was a nice touch. Decent, but the wait and price make it hard to love. Might try again if they speed things up.

After waiting 30 minutes, for what is literally the simplest item on the menu, the bowl is brought out and it's a bowl of broth with a couple slices of chicken. No noodles. When I inquired, the server told me it's because I ordered the Plain Pho... yea and I said it comes with noodles and broth. They told me they could get me noodles, but acted like they were doing me a favor by fetching noodles for me, which was quite offputting because the noodles were quite literally half of the dish I actually ordered. How does one wait half-an-hour at a very casual fast Vietnamese food place, for premade soup and noodles, and still have the order wrong? In the end, I did get my noodles and broth, but the fact that I had to spend this much time and also justify my request for noodles (which are part of the dish) is quite insane. I put this at 2 stars for now, because I enjoyed my first time. Hopefully the service will improve.

The place was a little busy, but they didn't take reservations. Amazing service and delicious food! The food was fresh and came out fast. Portions are generous, so you definitely won't leave hungry. Their menu has many options to offer, including gluten free, soy free, and dairy free options. The viet bao stood out--really flavorful and probably the best thing we had. The pho was okay, but coming from LA, it's hard not to compare, and Little Saigon still does it better. My daughter got the famous wings and those were solid. The kids especially liked the prawn chips that came with them--ended up finishing those pretty quickly. Good spot to recharge after a long day out, especially if you're with family and want something satisfying without overthinking it.

Medium spice was not spicy at all for us. - Duck curry: a bit small on the portions but the curry is magical. Was scraping this plate clean. - Bo luc lac: star dish for sure. Beef melts on your tongue and the marinade is slightly sweet and smoky. - Summer rolls: small portions but the flavor is there. Super refreshing and special bc they pickle the vegetables inside. - Crispy pork belly: reminds me of the crispy pork I had in Vietnam. Really well done, pairs well with the lettuce and herbs. That green sauce is so addicting. - Papaya salad: super refreshing, nice fish sauce. - Crab fried rice: reminds me of the din tai fung fried rice bc of how clean the flavor is. It was a quiet and nice spot to catch up with a friend. The service was also great, as the food came out quickly and they were very attentive with refilling our waters. We each got the pho bo, which was about $28 after tip and tax. I liked the meats in the soup a lot, and the broth was tasty. The noodles did clump together quite a bit though, so it felt like they weren't the most fresh.

Midtown New York is not exactly known for quiet, intimate dining experiences. It is known for…read morecrowds, noise, and restaurants that seat you next to a stranger close enough to accidentally share an appetizer. So when my family stumbled into Pho 39, a tiny spot with just a handful of tables tucked away from the chaos outside, it felt less like finding a restaurant and more like discovering a Rebel outpost that somehow survived undetected in the middle of Imperial territory. The menu is exactly what you'd expect from a solid Vietnamese spot: pho, combination rice plates, the usual lineup. We were ready to order and move on with our lives. Then we saw the tacos. Vietnamese tacos. On the menu. Sitting right there between the banh mi and the spring rolls like they'd always belonged. Nobody in my family said anything for a full three seconds, which for us is basically a standing ovation. We ordered the duck spring rolls to start, which were fresh, well packed, and disappeared faster than a starfighter in hyperspace. For the mains we went with the beef flank pho and the banh mi combination special. The pho had a clean, well developed broth that clearly had some time put into it, and the beef flank was tender enough to make you slow down and pay attention. The banh mi combo was solid, balanced, and hit all the right notes. We did not get the tacos this visit, which means we have a built in reason to return and nobody can argue with that logic. For a small room in the middle of one of the busiest cities on the planet, Pho 39 manages to feel genuinely calm and focused. Good food, good value, and a menu with enough surprises to keep things interesting. The Force is strong with this little spot.

My sandwich was ready for me too which was great, in and out, easy. The sandwich itself is delicious! It comes with a small ramekin of very spicy rooster sauce. I would definitely order for pickup from here again for the days I want to grab a quick lunch and get right back to work!
