River Thai is so good! If you're near Riverbank state park or Hamilton Heights, I completely recommend dining here! We came for dinner and the food, service, and ambiance made for such a delightful experience! Everything we tried was excellent but my favorites were the pad basil, tom yum rice, and curry puffs. You can't go wrong with any if it!

    Drunken Noodle Lunch Special

The lunch special was great! I got the drunken noodle and you chose what meat you want and it's a dollar extra for tilapia. It comes with one spring roll or salad. I got the spring roll which was veggie. The service was good also. I took one star off because it was cold outside and inside! I ordered jasmine tea which was good to warm me up brrrrrrrr! I will recommend and come back for the lunch special.

I was obsessed with this restaurant when they first opened. My love for them is slowly fading fading. The flavors of food are delicious!!!! It is still of of my favorite for Thai but few things need to be addressed. My issues are: The last 3-4 times I ordered take out I noticed they don't pay attention to the request or notes. -Number one the drunken noodles with Beef have 3-4 skimpy pieces of beef yet I paid full price for the dish. -Couple of times the noodles very so overcooked. And last issue is the spice, I said NOT SPICY in the comments when ordering on line and once when ordering over the phone. Yet every time I get home and dig in The food is very spicy (for me). Great place! Great food and friendly staff. I hope these issues get addressed.

My go to take out/delivery thai spot these days. Love the tofu! Theyre also super kind about requests. Always high quality/well made and flavorful! Pad Black Pepper Garlic - I asked for less black pepper this time - heavy garlic and it was perfection - tofu was so garlicy and veggies were great. Delivery is fast when I order directly from their website, cant speak to 3rd party apps

    Thai Curry Puff

Cute little restaurant with a nice interior. I came here for dinner with a friend on a rainy Saturday evening and the place was mostly empty, no reservation needed. We shared the thai curry puffs as an appetizer, I thought that they could've been crispier but the filling tasted nice. I got the chicken pad see ew as my main and it was really salty. I had to drink so much water after eating this. I think maybe I just got unlucky since other people seem to like the pad see ew here. In short, I think this place is alright, but didn't blow my socks off.

    Chicken Red Curry

I ordered the red curry that came with rice. The menu had various options for proteins but I chose chicken. It was decent but a bit overpriced especially if you are a college student that resides in that area of Harlem. I also ordered the fried rice for my friend and he said it was good. However, our crab rangoon was very disappointing. It was overly cheesy and cost $8 which was pretty wild considering there was no taste of crab. It wasn't a bad dish but it wasn't what I had hoped for. Our waitress was very kind and very accommodating. Ambiance was very nice too. It was fairly quiet and the lighting in the restaurant is warm toned and makes the room feel more pleasant.

Everytime I'm in New York, I make sure to order from this local Thai place. Since I was in the area, I decided to dine in. The food is incredible! My go-to's are the vegetable spring roles, basil chicken dumplings (missing picture because of how fast I ate them lol), and the Thai fried rice with chicken. The service was good, food comes out pretty fast (and hot!) , the ambiance was peaceful-- there was only another party of 2. Highly recommend, and great option for delivery/takeout!

    Vegetable Spring Roll
    Avery D.

I am not usually a huge Thai fan, but I really enjoyed everything from River Thai. The vegetable spring rolls were very delicious, and the dipping sauce was really the mvp. We got both the panang curry and laksa lo mein and while both were very good, the laksa lo mein was incredible. The noodles were a great texture, not too thick and chewy and not too thin. The flavors of the soups were wonderful. A little spicy but nothing crazy. I would come back for this dish specifically. The restaurant had a fun vibe with some great music playing as well. The server was nice and pointed out some good things on the menu.

Decent! I needed a noodle dish for my personal Chinese New Year party, and decided to treat myself to super basic white person thai food. (My Filipino-Chinese family and my China-loving white husband are so ashamed of me). I ordered: Papaya Salad--not bad Spring Rolls--okay. wrapper was a bit thick in some parts Chicken Wings--arrived soggy Pad Thai--decent. Told ya it was basic.

Accidently made a pickup order on Yelp, thinking that this was the River Thai in NJ. It was only an extra 15-20 min drive, so decided to try their food, instead of canceling the order. Food was so much better than the one in NJ. Happy we found this place. Their food is worth the drive for us, considering the lack of decent Thai restaurants near home in NJ. Highly recommend. Will definitely come back again for pickup. Thank you for the curb side pickup. : 9 calendars

Considering the hectic 48hrs of non-stop traveling and celebrations, I would've been satisfied with a simple takeout meal to end the weekend but to my surprise, one of the best experiences of the trip was yet to come. Thankfully I was blessed with great friends to recommend this exceptional establishment known as Mitr Thai in Midtown Manhattan. Though the trip was centered around a wedding, my experience here instantly became the highlight of my trip to the City. One very genuine friend arranged this dinner, making a reservation for 3 for 7:30pm. To our surprise, we actually made it from Connecticut, walked from Grand Central and to Mitr Thai at 7:25pm even though they won't seat you until your entire party is there. After passing through the scaffolding, the restaurant has a two-door entry, one host after another, leading to a quaint but alluring lobby area. We were greeted by both hosts even though we were bogged down with luggage. The space was welcoming and had a sense of elegance as there was a blend of hardwood furnishings, low lighting and a heavy dose of Thai art/fixtures. For context: Labor Day Monday, at 7-8pm, there was a steady demand as the waiting bench remained full. There were even guests standing but even as more people came in, people were being seated at a consistent rate. Our 3rd friend arrived closer to 8pm and we were seated immediately. Our bags were placed in a small room behind the host podium and we were seated 20-30 meters from the door along the wall facing the bar. The menus were very comprehensive: large, descriptive and filled with graphics that left me wondering if I could try it all. I couldn't praise our server (Mindy) enough. She knew the kitchen, bar and any/all offerings like her own name. She had individual recommendations for each of us AND ADDITIONAL OPTIONS. I listened, ordered the Short Rib Prik Kang and indulged in a Verdant Whisper (Tequila, Cucumber, Lime). I'm not sure how but our food arrived less than 15mins later! The short rib looked good enough to make the entire restaurant jealous: the curry paste glistened in the light, the aroma called my name while the garnishes winked at me. To my disbelief, as good as it looked, it tasted even better! The sauce was robust, smooth, creamy & just spicy enough. Since the ribs slid off the bone, I mixed in the white mixed rice and ate it as a meal. I can proudly say I've never had anything like it. Oh yeah, the cocktail? Smooth, refreshing and relaxing. Worth every penny. I was elated with the overall experience and chose to pay for both of my friend's meals. My only regret is not having more to tip! Mindy gave us the table to chat for another 30mins but in the back of my mind I was still enamored from the meal. I had no expectations when I entered Mitr Thai but I left with a sincere amount of praise and admiration. From cuisine to the hospitality down to the furnishings, dining here was one of the best overall experiences I've had in YEARS. I cannot say enough about this establishment and I hope they Always Strive & Prosper.

I came here with a group of six on a weeknight with no reservations. We were seated immediately on the second floor. The restaurant had a chic, sophisticated interior, with black and gold accents and wood furniture. A large spiral fringe chandelier hung from the ceiling. While the environment indeed was upscale, the food still retained that cozy, home-cooked element known to Thai cuisine. I split the short rib curry and pork cheek with my husband. The curry was creamy with a kick of heat. The beef pull-apart tender. I'm salivating just thinking about it now. The pork cheek was delicious as well. It had the taste and texture of pork belly, which paired splendidly with the sweet and tangy fish sauce it came with. Others from my party ordered the masaman curry and a type of noodle (I think it was the pad kee mao?), and they all approved of their dishes. The drinks were wonderful as well, so distinctly Thai and inventive. I highly doubt you'll find anything here that isn't excellent.

Not all midtown restaurants stay open past 10, and I was relieved to find their kitchen going strong at that hour, as well as their dining space, which was full. Turned out it was for good reason because their food was delicious. My friend and I were hoping to eat at a restaurant nearby specializing in crab, but they closed much earlier. Fortunately for us, SaiTong's menu had plenty of crab on it, and we decided to double up and make each of our entree's a crab one. The black spaghetti crab curry and crab curry noodles advertised themselves as being very different dishes in both presentation and ingredients but ended up tasting kind of similar. One was topped with deep fried crab and used a different type of noodle than the other, but the sauces were so similar. This is not to say that they didn't taste good, but I would've preferred more variance. I'm glad we got an order of papaya salad to cut the richness of the other dishes, and I also appreciated it had a nice level of heat in it. Our servers were really friendly without being overbearing, and let us linger for a bit even after we paid the bill, as it was their last seating for the evening. There are so many excellent Thai restaurants in the city and I'd put SaiTong firmly in the category of perfectly solid spots to get your Thai fix, with some special dishes on the chef's menu worth checking out.
