I come here regularly and it is always a great experience. First they are super nice and I love that it is in the neighborhood. The food is always good, everything is cooked with care and it shows in the food. I have been ordering different things on the menu and the last time, I came I ordered the laska soup and I was pleasantly surprised. The soup was good, hot and flavorful, it had the right brother to ingredients ratio. My only suggestion, is that I would have preferred another option for noodles in the soup. I had the pleasure to be the first customer here on a day where there majority of the roads were closed in Manhattan and finding a restaurant open in the late morning was kind of a challenge. I originally ordered to take out, but decided last minute to sit in and the staff was nice enough to accommodate me. I was obsessed with this restaurant when they first opened. My love for them is slowly fading fading. The flavors of food are delicious!!!! It is still of of my favorite for Thai but few things need to be addressed. My issues are: The last 3-4 times I ordered take out I noticed they don't pay attention to the request or notes. -Number one the drunken noodles with Beef have 3-4 skimpy pieces of beef yet I paid full price for the dish. -Couple of times the noodles very so overcooked. Cute little restaurant with a nice interior. I came here for dinner with a friend on a rainy Saturday evening and the place was mostly empty, no reservation needed. We shared the thai curry puffs as an appetizer, I thought that they could've been crispier but the filling tasted nice. I got the chicken pad see ew as my main and it was really salty. I had to drink so much water after eating this. I think maybe I just got unlucky since other people seem to like the pad see ew here. It was decent but a bit overpriced especially if you are a college student that resides in that area of Harlem. I also ordered the fried rice for my friend and he said it was good. However, our crab rangoon was very disappointing. It was overly cheesy and cost $8 which was pretty wild considering there was no taste of crab. What a deliciously spiced and flavored meal for 2 for $50 including the tip. We got the laksa Lo Mein, recommended by our waitress, and the panang curry and vegetable spring roll. All so good. Thai fried rice with chicken: I probably would find this a little plain, but it was perfect for my toddler. She loved it. Pod black pepper garlic with shrimp: the only dish that we weren't happy with. The veggies didn't have much of a flavor, and the sauce was underwhelming. My go-to's are the vegetable spring roles, basil chicken dumplings (missing picture because of how fast I ate them lol), and the Thai fried rice with chicken. We got both the panang curry and laksa lo mein and while both were very good, the laksa lo mein was incredible. The noodles were a great texture, not too thick and chewy and not too thin. Very delicious flavors, rich and savory. Not sure when they opened but I just noticed this restaurant in the neighborhood and I will be recommending it! To start, it's BYOB! Nearest liquor store is on 145 and Broadway so get it before you come! The menu has all your typical Thai favorites. Try the Thai curry puffs, the crust was just ugh, amazing. I've only ordered delivery so this review is only based on my delivery experience. I've tried multiple Thai places in the area and River Thai is definitely my favorite! Food is delicious, fresh, and good portion size! My order was made quickly for delivery which I appreciated. I ordered the Pad Thai with Chicken, Crab Rangoons, and Vegetable Spring Rolls. Pad Thai is really good- my only wish is it could be made spicy and that it was a little less sweet but all-around excellent. Crab Rangoons and Vegetable Spring Rolls were both crispy and served with a sweet chili sauce on the side. I've ordered a few times. Solid 3.5. Took me a min to figure out which way to round the stars. But up it is seeing as when River Thai is at their best? Their stuff is poppin'! But when they're off? They are OFF. Seems like all they need is a better eye on consistency so what's going out the door / to the table gives the customer the same amazing flavors and awesome dishes every time. Thai Curry Puff: these are top three I've had anywhere. I am not the dude who indiscriminately orders Curry Puffs every time I do Thai. They're a "when the mood strikes" app for me. But with RT? I order every time. Fortunately the recipe they use is so great it holds integrity even on off days. Pad Black Pepper Garlic (w/beef): One of those dishes where you take a bit and go, "Hmm." And then you take another. "Hmm!" De. Li. Cious. Nice build of flavors, tender beef. Curious to try the dish with other proteins. Nasi Goreng (w/beef): glad I tried this Indonesian fried rice. You can certainly taste the difference in spices used. Makes for a nice change from the usual Thai and Chinese versions of the dish. Green Curry (w/squid): solid green curry. A little build of nice heat. The squid were cooked well. I prefer a slightly thicker curry so it doesn't run past the rice so much and clings better to the other ingredients. But good. Speaking of rice, there was consistency here...but with wanting / needing a little more of the stuff to accompany the dishes I ordered. None of the containers I received were filled to the top, and the rice wasn't packed. So when having received a thinner curry plus getting less rice, I had some imbalance going on. Chicken Larb: this has been both my favorite and least favorite thing in the bag. The first time I ordered (pictured), the serving was huge, the aroma was divine the second I opened the container, and every bite was not only perfect but better than the one before. I was actually excited to order the second time. The second time I received a much smaller portion. Not quite half...more like 2/3. That's still a notable difference. The aroma was off (just smelled like spice). There wasn't flavor; just heat. It ended up being unpalatable and getting tossed. Tom Kha: another item that varied per order. The first time (pictured) was nearly perfect. I definitely prefer when a restaurant removes the lemongrass stalks and bay leaves (picking them out or using cheesecloth when cooking). But the flavors were on point, with just the right amount of coconut milk. Second time...it was fine...but the flavors didn't balance (enough to be noticeable), and the milk ratio was off. It was closer to Tom Yum. So I didn't really get that awesome coconut creaminess. But both times the chicken was cooked well, and you receive a good portion. Thai Fried Rice (w/chicken): perfectly fine. It gave a hint to basil rice flavoring without that spice and flavor punch. Good for a more delicate palate. Overall, I'm sure I'll order again when my craving for that larb and those puffs gets strong enough. And if consistency starts to balance out, I'll definitely keep ordering on the regular. read more

A-Plucking-Mazing!!! I don't know what to tell you to order first....the Drunken Noodles or the Duck Gra Prow. They're both so fuck!ng good that it's actually hard to tell you which. The flavors are explosive, the Drunken Noodle is perfectly balanced between in heat and sweet, with the right amount of weight to the noodle. Not falling to bits and not too heavy for the sauce. If you know, you know. The duck is perfectly cooked and the portions are generous. I ordered it with noodles instead of rice. I've also tried the pineapple duck one, also amazing, but I prefer the former. I've had the red curry....long sigh here, delicious.
