Spring Roll & Pad See Eiw Noodle

The service is great and the food is the perfect takeout dinner! This is a great spot! Everything we got was delicious!

Tom Yum Soup
Dahyung O.

Pleasantly surprised by this place! Small venue on 148, definitely a takeout/delivery place but their food is fresh, not too salty, great portions! Ordered summer roll and tom yum soup (small), ate one summer roll lol but it had 6 big pieces, the rice wrap not stale at all. Tom yum soup had generous tofu pieces and veggies! Definitely down to try their entree menus from now on...

Red curry and chicken Thai fried rice
Angela L.

Tried red curry here for the first time. Absolutely delicious. My throat was on fire not just because of the spices but because of the flavor as well! LOL. I have been dying to try, but anytime I see pad Thai on a menu I just can't resist. This time, I did and it was a breakthrough moment. The red curry has red bell peppers, onions, string beans and some other non-American veggies that were all delicious. The curry itself was spicy and just so flavorful. It comes with a bowl of white rice that the curry compliments so well! I also got a Thai iced tea here. MAN that was the bomb! So sweet so even when the ice melts, it's still very tasty. The shop is very small. Only two tables. But they have takeout through different apps. For management, I would recommend that instead of having two tables oriented in series with the entrance, maybe it should be oriented parallel to it and use the wooden benches along the wall as seats. Therefore, you can add more tables next to each other.

Delicious Pad Basil with Tofu

Their Thai food is delicious! My husband and I love the Pad Basil (Tofu and Chicken) ($10) so much that we haven't tried anything else. The Pad Basil is a vegetable stir fry with your choice of protein all in a savory and slightly spicy sauce. It's sooo delicious! The veggies are always crispy and very fresh. I can tell and appreciate that they don't use frozen veggies. The dish comes with white rice. Cash only! The food is prepared very quickly. I've never waited more than 10 minutes. Their prices are affordable around $10 for most non-seafood dishes, however the portions are definitely on the smaller side. You can order delivery via GrubHub, Seamless, etc. Also, the chef is such a sweet and talented woman who is actually from Thailand (Chiang Mai) so the food is fairly authentic. Love this place.

Green Curry with Roach

Green Curry came with a large ROACH. Would not recommend as there appears to be a low standard for health/cleanliness. I called the restaurant and they asked me if maybe it was an onion. So posting this for the restaurant to see as well.

Chicken Thai Fried Rice

Awesome small little spot. Just walking around the area and happened upon here and so glad we did. Inside there's 2 or 3 small tables, so not much seating, they do mostly take out it seems. Very kind and nice people to deal with though. My girlfriend got curry of some sort, it was really good and I'm not an huge curry fan. I had the Thai fried rice with chicken and it was wonderful. Very flavorful. Overall, lovely spot. Reasonably priced. Highly recommended

I usually don't like to bash small neighborhood restaurants but I have ordered from this place on various occasions and have noticed a decrease in food quality over time. However my most recent order was through Seamless for delivery and I ordered vegetable dumplings. I am very concerned about the cleanliness of this place as there was a veryyyyy visible hair inside the container. It popped up as soon as I opened the plastic. Hopefully this was a one time occurrence but be warned!

Shoutout to our awesome server Ploy who took good pics of the group! I started with a thai mango surprise to drink, then got the massaman curry and drunken noodle for mains. Thai Mango Surprise- This has a vodka base. You get mango puree, sticky rice syrup, coconut milk and coconut cream. It's like a drink version of the dessert, very tasty! Massaman Curry- We got this with beef which was cooked perfectly tender. The sauce is sweet with a hint of spice and made creamy with coconut milk. Potatoes and peanuts add bulk to the dish. Drunken Noodle- We got this with chicken and they gave us a generous amount of it. The sauce is savory and spicy, packed with flavor. The noodles are soft and chewy. Great experience overall!

Not all midtown restaurants stay open past 10, and I was relieved to find their kitchen going strong at that hour, as well as their dining space, which was full. Turned out it was for good reason because their food was delicious. My friend and I were hoping to eat at a restaurant nearby specializing in crab, but they closed much earlier. Fortunately for us, SaiTong's menu had plenty of crab on it, and we decided to double up and make each of our entree's a crab one. The black spaghetti crab curry and crab curry noodles advertised themselves as being very different dishes in both presentation and ingredients but ended up tasting kind of similar. One was topped with deep fried crab and used a different type of noodle than the other, but the sauces were so similar. This is not to say that they didn't taste good, but I would've preferred more variance. I'm glad we got an order of papaya salad to cut the richness of the other dishes, and I also appreciated it had a nice level of heat in it. Our servers were really friendly without being overbearing, and let us linger for a bit even after we paid the bill, as it was their last seating for the evening. There are so many excellent Thai restaurants in the city and I'd put SaiTong firmly in the category of perfectly solid spots to get your Thai fix, with some special dishes on the chef's menu worth checking out.

Amazing ambiance inside (I ADORED the gold hanging decor on the ceiling) Bathrooms were very clean and staff was so efficient and friendly. They refilled water all the time and brought out food very quickly. We were celebrating a birthday but there was nothing brought out, so I don't think they have that kind of service here. However, when I got to the restaurant, I was told that they were not participating. If that was the case, then why not correct the restaurant week website, or make it very obvious on your website that you aren't participating? Both of us were starving, and I had put in a birthday request at the restaurant, so we decided to stay. The ambiance is classy, and this would be a great spot for a business dinner or date night. I ordered a massaman curry with roti and chicken ($29), and my friend ordered the chuchi shrimp ($30) and curry puff ($16). Prices are a bit above average for the portion size, but justified by the area. We both enjoyed our dishes; the flavors were on point! Then, for my friend's birthday, they gave us mochi ice cream and a card signed by the staff! That was a nice touch that overrode the restaurant week debacle. Service was fantastic. There were multiple check backs and water refills. I would recommend Sabai Thai for a fancy night out, and I would return to try other dishes.

As a Thai person myself and as indicated on their menu, it's the way most Thais eat this dish :) The fried egg added that rich, runny element that really brings everything together. The veggies were nicely sautéed, fresh and still crisp, and there was a good amount of ground pork, so the dish felt hearty and satisfying rather than rice-heavy. Overall, the flavors were solid and comforting, though I personally found it just a touch sweeter than I prefer for pad kra pow. Even so, it definitely hit the spot and was very satisfying for a late-night craving. The staff were friendly and welcoming, which made the experience pleasant overall. One thing to keep in mind though is timing - if you're dining closer to closing, you may feel a bit rushed toward the end of your meal. All in all, a solid option for Thai food!
