This satay is FIRE! Don't sleep on it, it's delicious!!
    Christine N.

First Impressions: it's small and cozy. It's cold outside so they set up chairs in a little protected plastic awning away from the cold so that was nice. Indoors is very clean and well set up. Wish it was bigger but still found it charming The Noms: Cha gio (egg rolls): very crunchy and flavorful. I really enjoyed this dish especially wrapped in lettuce and dipped in fish sauce and their table side satay sauce. Perfectly spicy, I immediately wished I had more food to dip in it. Must try with whatever you can! House Pho Bo (beef): I'm most disappointed in this dish. The broth was very bland and I had to put a ton of hoisin and satay in it to give it flavor. Also, no sriracha... but could be because this is served northern style. Also, one tiny slice of lime was not enough. The noodles was generous and perfectly cooked. Could have been more beef for the rice noodle ratio. Bun Cha: my favorite dish of the night. I'd been craving it and it was really good. Reminded me of the street food bun cha I had in Hanoi last year. In Conclusion: food was very good. I'm looking forward to trying other dishes on the menu. Skip the pho next time, but Will def come back for the bun cha and cha gio.

Came here with a friend during the coldest wether cause I was craving some warm broth. We got the egg cream coffees which were absolutely incredible. I got the house beef pho which was so good, including the broth. The people were nice. There was a wait on a Sunday afternoon but we just had a beer next door while we waited. The staff was nice, the place was so bright and cozy. Loved it and will be back soon!

Everything at Banh is AMAZING. Highly recommend grabbing an egg cream iced coffee for brunch and definitely get a Banh mi (bbq pork is our fave). Flavors are well balanced, service is attentive, and food comes out relatively fast. Their house hot sauce is soooo tasty we even bought a little container to take home.

This is an $8 egg coffee to go. (WTF)

Once we came here for egg coffee, they were out Then we returned-- the front was packed and they didn't say anything about how to get out on the waitlist, etc, until AFTER I returned 25m later and asked about it. Friend finally got the egg coffee to go, and look:

Hands down the best Vietnamese restaurant i've been to in the city. My friend and I waited for around 45 mins for lunch on a Saturday and it was so worth it. We got the Banh Cuon ($14.95) and O.G. Banh Mi ($13.95) and both were absolutely amazing. Both dishes were incredibly flavorful and the portions are so generous for the price. You honestly can't go wrong with anything on the menu and I will definitely be back to try more items. It's a small establishment so be prepared to wait or do take out. You won't be disappointed though!

Amazing food! Super quick service as well. The staff were friendly and welcoming. Very busy, but still a reasonable wait time. I highly recommend this place for food.

WOW amazing viet food. Super flavorful especially with the peak chili sauce and hoisin. Textures were also great!! I will say the food is kind of oily and heavy but yummmm Notes: pork in bbq pork banh mi slightly dry?? Wish I could have more cilantro maybe. Chicken, og, pork for banh mis but would wanna try dipping in pho

Not much to update. Banh is still amazing; even after a trip to Hanoi and other areas of North Vietnam, I still think it's the best North Vietnamese food I've ever had. It's always worth a wait in line, which you'll need to do if you wanna eat here, since you'll need to sign up in person for the waitlist. We tried the Take/crispy rice, fried tofu, and pork floss banh mi this time, and while none of them disappointed, I personally will continue to order their basic house beef pho, with their BBH as a close second. (Also, to the group who asked for a Thai iced tea here ... they're Vietnamese, not Thai. We Asians ain't all the same; I don't go around asking for a cheeseburger at Olive Garden, lol.)

THIS PLACE IS SO GOOD!! Some of the best Vietnamese food I've had in NYC. My friend and I came for dinner on a Wednesday and waited about 20 mins for a table. I got the pink snow lychee strawberry lime slushee (perfect), then we shared the house beef pho and gà chiên (chili garlic fried chicken) banh mi. The pho was absolutely phenomenal and the bahn mi was stunning. My friend liked her iced jasmine cold brew as well. Prices are really good for the quality.

I'm always skeptical of dining destinations on the UWS and UES given both neighborhoods tend to serve as magnets of mediocrity. But Banh is an exception, offering one of the most enthralling Vietnamese menus in the city. The Saigon white coffee with a deep layer of condensed milk was of course a tempting way to start the meal. We then shared the vegetarian tofu banh mi, a vegetarian version of the crispy tofu, and the fried sticky rice. The tofu used in the banh mi had an excellent texture, with a creamy soft interior. The fried sticky rice was a bit mild in terms of seasoning and fairly dense, but paired well with the spicy ớt sa tế available on the table. (While I did not try any meat items, my non-vegetarian friend asked to note that the BBQ pork banh mi was one of the best sandwiches he's had in NY).

I've heard good things about Banh so I was looking forward to giving it a try (once I finally had some time to make the trek up to this part of the UWS haha). We got there around 6pm on a weekday, and there were still plenty of seats for our party of two -- it definitely filled up quickly though, and there was a queue by the time we left. To start, we ordered the Xoi Xeo to share. I liked the aromatic flavour of the sticky rice, and it paired nicely with the pork floss and fried shallots. But, I think it got too heavy quickly (the sticky rice weighs it down a lot), and I honestly started feeling a bit full before our main dishes had even arrived (!) We also tried the Pho Dac Biet (the "classic" pho option) which was a great option. The broth was so rich without being heavy/oily, and the sliced beef was yummy. The Com Tam (special combination broken rice) was my favourite dish. The pork chop was so tender and flavourful, and I really liked the complex flavour of the slice of meatloaf, which had different veggies and noodles as filling.  I also got the milo iced milk chocolate drinks, which was lovely -- hard to find places in the US that sell milo drinks so I have to order it whenever I have the chance. Overall a very solid meal at a fairly reasonable price. Portion sizes were definitely big across the board, and we had a considerable amount leftovers for another meal at home. If not for the somewhat out-of-the-way location, I'd come here more often :)

Small spot in UWS. Not so far up such that it's super sketchy. Arrived Saturday in a rainy day but the place is full and vibrant. Friendly staff (Andrew) helped my family get on the waitlist. Seated in 15-20 min. Not a long wait. The menu is pretty innovative and had many nonstandard dishes. Our first time had to try all the staples and they were very good. The pho dac biet was legit. They added a little bit of finely diced ginger which added a different flavor to the broth. The only knit is the texture of the noodles was a tad soft and therefore breaks too easily. The pho ga was super flavorful and may be the best one I've had in NYC. Summer and spring rolls were fresh and crispy. Will come back again to try other dishes!

I always choose rice and the packaging is amazing, the beef is kept seperate from the rice and arrives hot and aromatic. My mom also loves this dish but ordered it with the solely salad and opts for double veggies. We have also tried several of the bahn mini including the lemongrass chicken, the brisket and the braised short rib. All are tasty. I do recommend adding the dip for $1 as it really takes it to the next level! I ordered the lychee iced tea sweetened today. It was sweet but not too sweet which I appreciated and as with everything from 5ive spice very thoughtfully packaged in a way that there is no leaking in transit. 5ive spice has some great all day and happy hour specials, I look forward to trying their food in person when I am in the area. Customer service: One time, on a particularly busy weekend in NYC, I received the wrong bahn mi sandwich. I ordered the brisket bahn mi and received the lemongrass chicken. When I called 5ive Spice, I spoke to the manager John who was incredibly apologetic and explained it was a very busy night, without offering excuses. He offered a full refund and invited me to order again and call and he would include a complimentary bahn mi. For what it's worth, it was a very busy night in NYC, all of the restaurants we were trying to get take out or delivery from were quoting 2+ hours, and John handled the situation perfectly. The food we received was tasty and did arrive on time.

I ordered "Plain Pho", which is described as just broth and noodles, no garnish or meat. After waiting 30 minutes, for what is literally the simplest item on the menu, the bowl is brought out and it's a bowl of broth with a couple slices of chicken. No noodles. When I inquired, the server told me it's because I ordered the Plain Pho... yea and I said it comes with noodles and broth. They told me they could get me noodles, but acted like they were doing me a favor by fetching noodles for me, which was quite offputting because the noodles were quite literally half of the dish I actually ordered. How does one wait half-an-hour at a very casual fast Vietnamese food place, for premade soup and noodles, and still have the order wrong? In the end, I did get my noodles and broth, but the fact that I had to spend this much time and also justify my request for noodles (which are part of the dish) is quite insane. I put this at 2 stars for now, because I enjoyed my first time. Hopefully the service will improve.
