Vietnamese restaurants are rare uptown, so I often have to trek all the way down to Chinatown for the authentic comforting restaurants that I know will be good. Two Wheels proved to be pretty authentic with a modern twist to their menu. We ordered the Two Wheels Pho with two meats (brisket and meatballs). The broth was clean and well seasoned but the texture of the noodles were a little lax. The brisket was shredded into thin strips and the meatballs looked homemade (with texture of the ground meat visible) unlike the usual smooth meatballs you might see in pho. We also had the Chargrilled Pork Vermicelli Bowl, which was visually appealing but in reality, the size of the meat and the vegetables were large which is hard to mix up with the noodles. The pork was in whole flat slices instead of being sliced into strips. The Chicken Spring Rolls were average but still has a satisfying crunch you'll like. Overall, I don't know if I would frequent this spot over the ones downtown, but I can see myself coming back if the craving really hits. read more

Really glad this small fast casual shop opened up, with a modern decor that just brightens up everything. First, if your a fries lover the parmesan fries with the chipotle mayo is excellent! If not then you might just fall in love with it and the thai tea. Secondly, the steak banh mi bread is toasted to perfection, they dont use the traditional bread like other places. I gotta say I do this bread verus the traditional ones. Lastly friendly and helpful staff, going that extra mile for customer service makes an impression especially for fast casual shops. read more

What a disappointing experience. I paid almost $20 (including delivery/service fees) for the delivery of a single steak bahn mi. The delivery took almost an hour, even though I live just a couple of blocks from the restaurant. I had to call them about my order; the guy who answered the phone offered no apologies for the delay, but rather, made some lame joke about the delivery guy driving a white BMW. When I finally got the sandwich, it was a soggy, greasy mess; to my surprise, it had mayo in it. It tasted totally inauthentic! It was not even cut in half, I even had to do that myself. This restaurant fails on both food and customer service; unfortunate, since there are not too many Vietnamese spots in this hood. Will never patronize again! read more

Getting takeout from Two Wheel was a wonderful experience! The people at the register were very polite and kind. The food was really great: the chicken Vietnamese crepe was probably my favorite! The Banh Mi with beef was flavorful and not dry at all ( which was my initial concern when looking up pictures). The Two Wheels Pho was tasty and came with enough fresh condiments! The fresh rolls we ordered with shrimp and I thought they could use a tiny bit more shrimp but not a big deal. Overall: Really wonderful and tasty food- well packed for an affordable price! Definitely recommend if craving or wanting to discover Vietnamese grub! I wish I had pictures but we just gobbled everything up. Will have to return to update this post read more

Delicious Vietnamese! We ordered the lemongrass bahn mi and the sirloin pho- they were beyond amazing. The sandwich was perfect- portions were on point, the chicken was so flavorful, the baguette was crispy and perfect. The pho was just an added bonus. So much flavor. Wow. That was the worst meal I've had in a long time. Food; zero stars. Hospital food is more flavorful. I had the banh mi and it was utterly flavorless. I didn't know that was possible. The bread was a nice texture, but the filling was all beige in flavor. I would have thrown it in the trash, but i couldn't part with $14 so easily. We also had the spring rolls and they were flavorless as well. It looked as though whoever "rolled" them was wearing a baseball glove. They weren't even really rolled. Just a rice noodle mess stuffed into a box. Bleh. Service: also zero stars. There were multiple people on one order (we were not doing share plates) but they brought out one person's food so early that he was finished by the time other food showed up. I got Two Wheel delivered to me because it was the middle of a thunderstorm. Not only was part of me worried it would take a long time, but how usually take out orders are never as good as than ordering in person at the restaurant. I got a summer roll with shrimp and the Vietnamese crepes with shrimp as well and let me tell you I was a happy gal. I love how online it let you choose extra of things free of charge so for the crepes I got extra lettuce, spring onions and herbs so it came more as a salad which made me love it even more. I love when restaurants don't skimp on the veggies. Even with the summer roll it was an option and they were much bigger than I thought they would be! They packed both dishes with so much freshness. The crepes were such a interesting idea that really worked!! The sauces were also so delicious!!!! The sweet siracha & vinaigrette were my favorite. The almond sauce tasted a little too sweet to me. Here's what we've gotten so far, everything was very tasty: - pork vermicelli bowl. The meat is charred to perfection and toppings are super fresh. The cooling cucumbers, pickled carrots and daikon, and cherry tomatoes go well with the spicy fish sauce dressing and grilled meat. - pork banh mi. Same things as above apply, a great sandwich. The banh mi is also massive (the prices in general here are very reasonable given the portion sizes). add the tasty pate to it for another dimension of flavor and just $0.50 more! - truffle parmesan fries. Reminds me a bit of curly fries, but they're waffle fries instead. Hot, crispy, and seasoned on the outside and soft potato on the inside. You can taste the fragrant truffle oil and they don't skimp on the Parmesan - fried spring rolls. Crispy skin that still crumbles nicely for a pleasant mouthfeel (vs fried spring roll skin that is crispy but hard). Tasty filling + dipping sauce. This is not hyperbole when I say this: The wings here are the best wings in New York City and most likely the entire world. I have been to Buffalo and ate my way through the famous wings spots there. So the last time I had Vietnamese food on the UWS was when Saigon was still around. That was ages ago as the place was shut down due to the treatment of its employees. Since I was in the area and did not feel like going far due to the weather, I was surprised to find that this place was nearby. Simple menu which I like, however, if your menu is this small I do expect quality. I honestly didn't know what to expect. I ordered the pho with brisket (they were sold out of meatballs). I was pleasantly surprised. The broth was really flavorful and tasted beefy. The brisket was tender, however there wasn't much in the dish. I'm the type of person that do not like a ton of meat in my food so this was perfect for me. It seems that the reviews are mixed but today's visit was a good one for me. Well not a great first experience. We ordered and an hour later after calling, we were told that due to "technical" problems with the website they "could not find" our order. They then said they were going to check it out with the boss. After not hearing for a bit I called back. Since I had paid I asked/pushed they take the order over the phone which was done. The order arrived 30 minutes later, this time on of the Pho's had leaked all over the food. A mess and not what one would expect. I found this place through uber eats and decided to take a chance and OMG was this life-changing, I ordered it twice in a row! Pho had no flavor and they put black pepper in the broth to make up for the lack of favor. It felt like I was drinking hot pepper water. The beef was also precooked unlike traditional Vietnamese restaurants so it was tough to chew and swallow. There aren't many meals I don't enjoy so this was disappointing. read more

I've been here a few times. First- the food quality. I've had the pho and the banh mi. The banh mi is probably the best deal, as you get a large and really filling baguette. But it's hard to not compare this banh mi to those at Banh NY, the other Viet place that opened up this summer on the UWS. That one is spectacular, this one just decent. The pho is also pretty good. My main gripe is the amount of food in the pho. There are times when I receive what feels like 4-5 bites of noodles in my bowl. I don't know how anyone is supposed to be full on these portion sizes. And at $13/bowl, I do expect to be full. I want to like this place more than I do, and I hate to leave a less than stellar review for a small business. I visited Two Wheels for the first time with my cousin. Food was ok. Got the Two Wheels Pho with brisket and Parmesan Truffle Fries. Fries were good, but the garlic harissa aioli it came with was too runny and vinegary for my taste. Pho was mediocre - very little noodles came in the soup, and the brisket was dry. Nothing to really write home about. What bothered me the most about this experience was that a homeless woman entered the restaurant for the sole purpose of harassing me and the person I with for money, AS we were sitting down and eating. She was aggressive, cursing at us and calling us "bitches." This is a small place - there are only 4 tables, and we were the only customers in the store. I know that the staff saw the situation yet decided to do nothing about it. I had to tell this woman to keep it moving and was threatened in the process. The Vietnamese Wings were so delicious that my 2 year old licked his fingers after he had the chicken. The pho broth was so rich and flavorful and it didn't taste like msg at all. If you're non-Asian or have never been to Vietnam, then this place might be acceptable. As an Asian person who's been to Vietnam multiple times, both Hanoi and HCM City, this place lacks a lot of flavor in the broth. Their pho is Saigon style and not Hanoi style, but the broth was very bland. Noodles were overcooked and soggy. Meat quality was good though. It seemed like they use good ingredients but they need to season the broth better. Vietnamese iced coffee was also disappointing. It was bitter but bland at the same time. Needed more condensed milk compared to the original. I'll go back to try their other dishes but won't order pho again. read more
