This is gourmet in the boonies! The food is exquisitely prepared, locally grown/raised (some from their own gardens), and fresh, fresh, fresh. My first meal was beef loin with salad and roasted potatoes. The loin was cooked to perfection, medium rare, and the serving size enough to bring home leftovers for a sandwich. The meat was tender and flavorful. I would have liked my potatoes cooked a bit more but the salad more then made up for that. The delicate vinaigrette is perfect with the greens - there are some spikey, leafy ones that I really love - I should find out what they're called. This was not an inexpensive lunch, $17, but more than equal to many dinners in Seattle where the price would be even higher. I took my husband on a progressive meal through Edison last week, we had the Green chile, Corn & Chevre pie which was outstanding ($7 for a big wedge with greens). The crust is a pate brisee and scrumptious. The flavors of the pie were simple, yet complex - we wanted to lick the plate! I haven't had any of the desserts yet, one more reason to return! Tweets is only open Fri-Sun, seating inside and out is casual rustic. Don't come here in a hurry, the service is appropriately leisurely, though as someone who loves to cook, I thoroughly enjoyed watching the staff put together a series of meals in their tiny prep space, while waiting for mine. We were very disappointed that this otherwise great place had zero vegetarian entrees. The only thing they could offer us was a salad (which always makes me feel like a second class citizen). We did appreciate their suggesting Mariposa next door, but I just don't understand why a place that must realize there's a ton of vegetarians around here doesn't offer at least one veg entree. read more

My boyfriend and I came here today to have a late lunch. He ordered the brisket hash and I had the Caesar salad. I was brought a plate of arugula and radicchio with a piece of parmesan, soggy croutons, and some anchovies on top of it. The salad tasted so bitter I could only bring myself to take a few bites of it. My boyfriend's hash was decent, but both dishes were pricey and mine was inedible. We had been waiting over 20 minutes for food and when i went to ask one of the people at the counter for my pre-made croissant. She rudely snapped that "other orders were in front of us" with a condescending tone and tense smile. The place was emptying and people who had ordered after us had eaten and LEFT. We paid for the coffee and as we were walking out the door, the same cook yelled at us, "Well we have one croissant left now!!! I guess WALTER (the name for our order) didn't want his food!!" Ok, so it's the most charming town in the world. Small as anything, but loaded to the gills with charm. And, this place? Well, it's the best thing about an already amazing place! The food is great. It's a gorgeous drive from Bellingham to the charming little town of Edison, and the staff couldn't be more charming as well. The food is simply the best around. Tweets is one of those little unassuming spots that let you convince yourself that you are the first to have discovered it. Located in Edison, WA, it is attached to an art gallery, so it is understandable that the food seems like a work of art as well. Funky. Food pretty good but not the cheapest you will find for sure. My frittata was large though the potatoes and mushrooms overpowered the eggs. Good quiche. So it's been a while since I been to Tweet's but I never wrote a review, and I'm bored so I thought I'd catch up with my reviews for a moment. I have been to Tweets 3 or 4 times. Each time, service was great, albeit one of the times the meal took longer to come than other times. That was ok with me, as it gave me my girlfriend time to sit and enjoy the ambiance of the little town after a long drive. I see that some people take offense at the guy behind the counter, whom I actually like a lot. Yeah, it's not your typical "customer is always right" attitude, but screw customer is always right. That's a corporate attitude and I'm ready for the corporate culture to burn. My girlfriend and I are both gluten-free, and this place has great options for gluten-free folks, and no need to worry about cross-contamination because they take gluten-free seriously. The menu isn't always the same, but everything I've ordered here was absolutely incredible. Organic, locally sourced, home-made food. Expensive? You betcha, but the portions are huge....though I don't know about one portion feeding 2 people. I actually ate 2 dishes the first time I came to Tweet's, since the person that introduced us to this place couldn't finish much of his meal, so I ate most of it, as well as my own. I love this place, and believe that especially at this place the attitude you give off you receive right back 10-fold. Love it here, but don't get out there too often, since I work on the weekends and they're pretty much only open on the days I work now. I miss you Tweet's! This place is absolutely unreal. My husband and I stumbled across it one day and have practically become regulars. I don't know that I've ever purchased a $1 double shot, but here are my favorites: 1) The mochas are to die for. I don't know what they do different, but it's great. 2) Americanos - same thing 3) Eggs. They have this kid who can make the best egg you've ever eaten in your entire life. 4) Pear tart and baked french toast. mmm. All the food is just fantastic. Anyway, we have yet to have anything here that is not absolutely phenomenal. Definitely worth dropping in. Only downfall is that they only take cash and credit. read more

The food was pretty darn good, but I was surprised the service was somewhat lacking given the prices and popularity. Ordered the "biscuit sandwich, eggs, sausage, greens". However, I found the name of that item to be confusing, so I asked if the eggs and sausage came on the biscuit with the greens on the side. The guy behind the till gave me a "pfft, of course stupid" kind of look and tone of answer. Then when I, unknowingly, tried to pay with a credit card, I got another bad look and he asked if I had cash. Fortunately I did. The food took about 30 minutes to be brought to us, which is okay because it was worth the wait since the sandwich and greens were very good. But it was probably mostly because the biscuit was slathered with butter. Thankfully we got there around 4 because they closed down shortly after due to "needing to save some food for tomorrow". I'd go back, but I wouldn't go out of my way to go back. And I would make sure to bring cash and try not to arrive after 4 because they might turn everyone away by then... read more

Charles and Dave have become extended family. Five minutes in the door and you will feel you have known Charles and Dave your whole life. The moment you enter Tweets you are intoxicated by the aromas of whats cooking that day. The portions are large and the ingredients are fresh, natural and from local farms. Grate local dining just doesn't begin to describe Tweets. I happened upon Tweets as a package delivery person . When I opened the door to this place I was welcomed in by friendly hellos and mouth watering smells that in my short 3 min visit left me promising to return for a taste. The next day my wife tuck the 45 min drive from our out of the way home just so I could show her how good Tweets smells. The staff rembered me and greeted us both. I had the beef tenderloins that was latterly one of the best things I have ever had. the fresh local flavors show in every bite the reduction souse was masterful and the eggs were rich and smooth. I wish I were a poet so I could do the food justice. My wife had the lox and loved it. The portions are big but not overwhelming. O and the live music was a big plus. A group of us had gotten lost on the back roads of WA and stumbled upon this awesome place. We were totally thrilled with our experience here. The food was to die for and the ambiance is very hip/rustic. We had the best tacos we had ever had and the staff was fabulous. The baked goods are out of this world!!! Loved my HUGE shortbread/ Mexican Wedding Cake type cookie. Espresso was great! The hibiscus drink was also delicious. The food is fresh, local and beautiful as well as tasty. I've been through Edison several times and always had my eye on Tweets, and I finally got to eat there a few weeks ago for an early lunch on a Saturday. It's intently funky, by design, not nature, the service is reaaaaallllyyyyy slow (it took half an hour for our table of 3 to get our food, and there were only two tables ahead of us). So why the four stars? Because the food is amazing! All of it was impeccably fresh, handmade and well-prepared. One friend had the Torta Rustica, one had the Lamb burger (not rare as she had ordered it, but she loved the flavor anyway), and I had the Grits with Andouille sausage, fried egg and greens, which I would get again in a heartbeat. As others have said, the portions are generous, and I took home half my grits and greens and had them for breakfast the next day. This is not a place to eat when you're in a rush. We had time to finish our coffees before our food arrived, then ate slowly and enjoyed the food, company and atmosphere.
