On a dreary whatcom morning, my wife and I decided to try a local coffee shop in our area. Lakeline. With a great view of lake whatcom this coffee shop serves up artisan coffees, as well as craft cocktails. A great place for a midday coffee date, or an evening drink rendezvous. For breakfast this weekend morning I started with the 43 & coffee. A pleasant mixture of bourbon with cold brew in the bottom with a healthy dose of cream on top, and just a hint of orange. This was definitely a top notch treat to start my morning. Next for my meal I ordered the Breakfast Sandwich. This one was very simple when it comes to breakfast sandwiches, but done very well. Egg, bacon, and arugula on a toasted ciabatta bun smeared with garlic aioli. I couldn't have wished for anything more. In an age where everything seems so complicated, I can appreciate simplicity. Excellent flavor delivered in a perfectly sized package. In short our journey to Lakeline was a great experience. I regret not coming to visit sooner, but I will definitely be coming back in the near future. read more

I met a friend here recently for a sunny Saturday breakfast, and what a treat! This neighborhood needed a gathering spot, and LakeLine seems to deliver. They're the perfect combo of a morning coffee and brekky spot, and a later-in-the-day mini cocktail bar. It's probably good I don't live TOO close to here, or I'd likely find an excuse to visit twice a day! I really enjoyed my oat milk latte and deeeeelish avocado toast (with a generous sprinkling of Everything Bagel seasoning). The house-pickled red onions were a lovely touch, too, and the accompanying side salad was summer garden fresh (even though it's January). Can't wait to find more excuses to visit here! A friend of mine suggested we take a little break and dine at LakeLine and I am so glad she did! It is a charming place with lovely staff, wonderful food and drink and a bit of a view which we enjoyed on a warm and sunny day. My friend ordered the avocado toast (on the Morning menu and which was, in fact, available afternoon). It was delicious. I ordered the smoked trout dip and the whipped feta dip. Both fabulous! (My friend doesn't particularly like fish, especially smoked fish, and she loved this dip and exclaimed over it, to her great surprise.) I don't know what went into the feta dip--I didn't actually taste feta--but what I did taste: oh my! It was one of the most delicious things I have ever eaten, ever! And we both exclaimed over how nicely done the pita was--fat, fluffy, seasoned and tasty. I didn't catch the name of our first helpmate, but she recommended a rosemary gimlet, which was lovely. Sophia, our second helpmate (and both wonderful, btw), recommended and made me up a Seville Smash, lovely as well. How I heard of this place: A long time mini strip mall in the neighborhood, we always wished it would house a cafe. And now, decades later, we finally have one! We have anticipated its opening and were so happy to finally have a chance - nay two chances - to go and try as much as we could! Type of cuisine: A coffee shop and bar, serving espresso beverages, cocktails, small plates and tasty treats; a pit-stop on a walk, or a spot to enjoy a bite with friends/family. Simple options with high-end, minimalist presentation. Ambiance: Bright and vibrant, the space is reminiscent of a beach home with whites and blues, wooden seating and cozy pillows in the corners of wooden benches that double up as space saving storage. Tables are sweetly set with tiny blue vases and fresh white flowers like daisies and crysanthamums. Gold/Brass trim lines table menus and fixtures in this thoughtful and charming neighborhood cafe. What I ordered: On our first visit, it was simply a cardamom latte, which was tasty when hot and the coffee went sour by the end. On this visit, another cardamom latte (planning I'd drink it while hot) with freshly zested orange atop (my request). For my sister, now a cardamom latte convert, and for the kids, steamed oat milk with house-made brown sugar cinnamon syrup, and a steamed milk with house-made vanilla syrup. Foods were enjoyed on this visit, as promised at our first visit. We had Nutella Toast, Avocado Toast, Smoked Salmon Toast (minus cream cheese) and a breakfast sandwich with bacon. What I loved: My sister's favorite: Avocado Toast. My son's favorite: Breakfast Sandwich, followed closely by the Nutella Toast. I couldn't decide but everything was fresh, tasty. I had the lox toast and it was absolutely delicious! I really enjoyed the extra pickled onions and small arugula salad on the side. Went shortly after opening on a weekend day and had the pick of the place however it quickly filled up as we enjoyed our meal. Cordato was good. Staff were pleasant. read more

We were surprised when they were brought to our table, but turned down the offer to remove them from our bill, as we'd already paid and were deep in conversation. The iced cardamom latte was perfect. I've been searching for a good one for years ever since I tried one at a pop-up coffee stand in Seattle. Service was friendly, the decor was breezy--made me feel like I was on vacation in San Diego. It did seem like maybe they need more help at the counter. There was only one person working up front (taking all orders and making all drinks) and by the time we left there was quite a long line. I think they had a sign they were hiring, though. read more

A much needed gap in B'ham's coffee (+ lots more) scene! A group of hiking friends stopped here after our weekly outing and all of us thoroughly enjoyed this spot along the north shore of the lake. Bright and cute decor and truly fantastic service was matched by perfectly crafted coffees -made on a beautiful blue LaMarzocco machine. They are keeping it local with their own blend of Hammerhead beans and feature Water Tank bread and Mount Bakery pastries. My friends enjoyed their lunch offerings. Can't wait to stop by after a bike ride for a beer or cocktail and to try their food. And don't forget to check out the art deco-ish woman diver motif on wall sculpture created by the owner and in the tile of the bathroom. Hurray for Lake Line! read more

I had an excellent iced Americano and slice of almond olive oil cake! Probably one of the top 5 best cake slices I have had, and the espresso was smooth and nutty - not sour/acidic like most of the coffee places have. I happened to stop in when 1 person was doing all the drink orders - so I had time to enjoy the view, appreciate the ambiance & beautiful sunny weather, and check out the menu....
