I went on a Sunday morning with my dear friend to do studying and we needed to get straight to work and thankfully with the quick service we were able to receive we did just that. The lady who took our order and made our drinks was quite pleasant to confer with and had a great attitude. People would walk in and out to order their food or drink but other than that it was relatively quiet. Another thing not often seen at other places was the variety of seating, Maple bar has high chairs, big tables with benches, cozy chairs, and even small sectioned off areas to sit. Stopped by on a wet Sunday morning with my fellow Yelper V to grab a quick bite before we tackled Trader Joes. It is very aesthetic on the outside and in, with a retro 60's throwback vibe throughout. I grabbed a ham and cheese croissant ($5 USD) which was heated up for me. While it was tasty, I wish the croissant was more fluffed up like a croissant - maybe this is not possible when its reheated but it looked a little flat and deflated. Everyone seemed very friendly and warm and in a first for me, the gender neutral washroom was stocked with a baby changing table, diapers, and tampons! Full marks for inclusivity. I didn't try their drinks this time but will try it next time. It seems closer to the Trader Joes on Google Maps than it really is, its a bit hidden behind the Best Buy. I wasn't hungry but they had Gluten Free options which makes me so happy! The space is really cute and clean with lots of seating. I would gladly come to this spot to study/work. We ordered the Teddy Graham Latte and after 20% tip it came to about $7, coming from Seattle this is very cheap especially for an oat milk drink and at such an aesthetic place! Walk in to a groovy and friendly coffee and donut shop with a friend today. The gal behind the counter was helpful with my questions on the different beverage offerings, I finally landed on the raspberry coffee that we turned into an oat milk latte. And I couldn't resist that cute little square shaped blueberry donut. Perfect combination! Pleasant vibe, can see it's a college student favorite spot to study as well. The space is right out of a vintage lover's dream. It's got bright happy colors and everything is clean and organized. It isn't the BEST coffee I've ever had, nor are the donuts the best, but what gives this place 5 stars is the service. They are kind, friendly, and have great advice if you're indecisive. The maple latte is good, and not something I've seen anywhere else. Costs are in line with other coffee places, parking isn't my favorite when it's busy, but it's easily accessible. I was in town for the day and decided to stop by this cute café that has great art and merch and delicious drinks and pastries. I got a 16oz iced chai latte and one of their lemon donuts. They looked too good to pass up. My chai latte was delicious and refreshing and was great on the rainy day that I stopped by. The lemon donut was light, airy, and the icing on top wasn't too sweet and paired well with my chai latte. They have plenty of drinks on their menu and it's a great place to do work or study. Staff are friendly here and the service is great and quick. Prices here are very affordable and way cheaper than most coffee shops. I love me a donut, I didn't even know this place was here so I sought it out today. Maybe it should be called Half Maple Bar? That is the only size they sell, not the length of any other maple bar you are likely to find anywhere else in town. The signage inside is cluttered. I never saw a price for maple bars. Coffee seems to be what they are most interested in selling. The case for the namesake menu item is pretty small. There were a number of kinds of half maple bars, none labeled. I had to ask. The blueberry and orange did not look appetizing, the icing was lumpy. It is a decent-sized place, my guess is the whole idea of the place is to have people linger with their coffee and half maple bar. I got mine to go. Whoops. I bought two half maple bars (the equivalent of one normal maple bar anywhere else). The cost was roughly 3X what a full maple bar would be anywhere else in town. Were they spectacular (justifying the 3X cost)? No. They were fresh, and the icing maple-y, but nothing else remarkable. I won't visit again. read more

Cute cafe located in Bellingham! While waiting for our table to be ready down the street the BF wanted a pick me up and we decided to drive here because the name "Maple Bar" cafe peaked our interest. The baristas were friendly and being it was our first time they recommend their signature maple bar latte as well the seasonal strawberry matcha latte. I really enjoyed a maple latte here on a chilly weekend morning. The interior is straight out of a pinterest search term if you were to look up some combo of colorful/clean/cute/practical aesthetic. There is a mix of casual seating and more structured tables/benches. A 12oz maple latte came out to around $5, which seems to be the going rate for coffee in this area. The drink came with the option to put some maple whipped cream on top (yum!). It seems like this is their signature, although they had a handful of seasonal specialties as well. The barista is downright bubbly and on-brand, although there was a rather unhappy-looking fellow dressed like a trucker behind the counter as well, not sure what his role is. Little alcoves for conversation and comfy seating can be found, as can uncomfortable industrial metal and wood seating, for you spartan, masochistic types. The Maple Bar is exactly what the cordata neighborhood needed. A cute, fun, coffee shop perfect for catching up with a friend, working, or doing school homework. They serve espresso drinks, lotus energy drinks, and donuts. Staff was very kind and gave a suggestion to try the honey lavender latte. I ended up trying it and loved it! Everything was reasonably priced. I'm not sure if they have a special everyday, but on the Tuesday I went they had a special of a 12 oz drip + 1 donut for $2.22. So this review is from early on, I think their first week. I came sort of expecting a donut establishment but while they do have a selection of delectable donuts the variety is currently (again first week) a bit limited. They did have some good options like a gluten free spiced pumpkin loaf and then their signature square maple bars. They were super good! Where this place shines though is the coffee and atmosphere. I can 100% see this becoming a WCC hangout (hopefully at least), lots of fun seating inside and out and the coffee! Sooo good! They use a local roaster for their coffee and the owners love of coffee is obvious! Their signature drink is a maple latte which I was hesitant to try because I don't like over powering flavors but I wanted to try it and the owner promised me it would be good. It wasn't good, it was incredible! A really nice light maple taste with a nutty finish. Easily one of my favorite coffees in a long long time! I'm super excited to drop by again soon! read more

This donut/coffee shop is super cute! There are a few large tables with benches and some smaller low tables with cushioned chairs - I liked the cozy feel at the small tables. They have a few other baked goods besides donuts too. The barista was really cheerful and made me feel welcome, fitting right in with the bubbly aesthetic. I got a blackberry muffin and a maple bar latte to go with. The muffin was amazing - it had so many juicy berries inside and the flavour and crumb of the muffin part was also very nice! There was a light crumble topping and I liked that it added some texture but didn't overpower the actual muffin as some crumbles do. The maple bar latte was also delicious - it's sweet (not as much as I thought it might be, though) and rich but made with quality maple cream so I found it didn't have a sugary aftertaste like a lot of drinks made with syrup do, and it made an excellent treat. The donut itself was light and fluffy. I also had the maple bar latte which was absolutely delicious. When I couldn't drink it all they offered to pour it into a to-go cup for me. Hopefully I'm not showing my age but as a kid in the early 70s my 2 favourite shows were The Dating Game and Laugh-In, I loved the outfits and the decor, and if I had those white gogo boots I'd be right at home here! Love the decor but come for the coffee. A double Americano was exactly the right strength, and you're allowed to add your own 1/2 1/2 which is a plus! I think it was the owner? who made my coffee but all of the staff have been helpful and pleasant on previous visits. The donuts looked amazing from where I stood and I hope to try one someday. My daughter and I stopped at the Maple Bar today to try out their signature Maple Bar coffee (say yes to the "signature whip"!) and of course the maple bars. They were delicious! The place was very busy, clientele all ages. Since it's right by Whatcom Community College I expected it to be mostly students. The staff was friendly, and the place was welcoming and bright. My teenager loved the decor (very 70s, pink and yellow and tan everywhere!). I'd call it groovy, and highly recommend it. :) read more
