Steve and I wanted to go to a coffee shop when we were on our most recent trip to Bellingham. Caffe Adagio was the closest spot that came up that would meet the criteria for this. We both had London Fog drinks and we usually get oat milk with our coffee shop drink purchases and oat milk goes especially well with this particular drink. Of course where would we be if we didn't get pastries. I got a delicious Blackberry Danish that they had while Steve got a savory pastry. Both were quite good and the pastry counter in general I noticed their selection was going fast so it is very popular! Good coffee shop stop and one well worth returning to but it shouldn't be a huge surprise entirely as college towns like Bellingham usually have great coffee shops! read more

We got the Lemon Cream Danish (5/5 - sweet and perfect balance of lemon), the Spinach and Feta (7/5!!! Just gas just come try it I can't even explain it) a Cremosa which is an Italian soda with cream (3/5 - not much to give just a regular Italian soda) and an iced Caffe Mocha (5/5 rich chocolate flavor and on the sweeter side as well. Doesn't have much of a coffee taste!). Total came out to be around $19. All of the items were so yum and incredible service! They were very kind. read more

This is my favorite coffee shop in town. Not only is the coffee great, but the atmosphere is cozy, there is plenty of seating, and the people are friendly. Big bang for your lil buck. This place is legit. The middle aged man barista did a great job. The middle aged cashier woman also did a great job. This place is inexpensive but doesn't mean it's cheap. The bread was very fresh. The sandwich was well worth $7.50. However, I suggest splitting it with someone because by the second half, my mouth was bored and tired. Perhaps if they had hot sauce to accompany it, I can enjoy the whole sandwich The ambiance is humble and friendly. A little confusing to get here because of the many one way streets but it's worth navigating the maze of downtown bellingham. The presence of hobos adds just enough grit and excitement to make you feel like a real human and not some NPC background character in the movie set of Adagio. It's definitely very loud in here from all the old people talking. Not sure if it's a place have a serious meeting or do some school work. But there are students in here with laptops. read more

The best place for a latte in Bellingham! Adagio has amazing coffee drinks, a variety of pastries and sandwiches and a large seating area that's perfect for meeting up with people or getting some work done. I've been coming here since 2015 when I started college at Western and return to grab a coffee every time I'm in town because it's just that good. I talk about this place and recommend it to friends frequently even though I've since moved out of state. The quality of the coffee served is consistent and a 10/10 so I'm going to keep coming back and sending friends to try their coffee. read more

Great coffee shop. The place and the people are nice, the seats comfortable, the power sockets plentiful, and WiFi for all. We had chai, strawberry Italian soda (cremosa) and a dolce fine. Fast becoming one of my new favorite coffee shops and they are so much more than coffee! Soups, sandwiches, baked goods. Step off railway Avenue into this beautiful bustling, but quaint Italian feel with live jazz every Saturday afternoon. Their cinnamon rolls are a local favorite and WOW delicious gf options and selection. Very busy in the morning and thins out a bit until lunch time. Delicious foods and service. The Cremosa is supposed to be an Italian soda with a tiny splash of half and half it's basically an Italian cream soda. -it's even written that way on their menu- I was served a soda with a pile of whipped cream on top, I didn't complain as I had a bus to catch. There was also no flavor to the soda I asked for strawberry and it just tasted like club soda with whipped cream(which I mixed in). Their sandwiches are pretty bad as well. I've never bought a sandwich that had half a leaf of lettuce on each side before it actually made me laugh. There was one slice of ham and a slice of cheese, it was a super dry bread sandwich basically with a touch of filling. At least don't cheap out on the lettuce. I don't know how this place has such a high rating. read more

Had a coffee date at Caffe Adagio and was my first time here. It was a nice coffee shop, lots of variety on the menu, and had both chair and couch seating, was cozy and comfortable. What I didn't like was that there is not wait service(you order at the counter, get your items, and then take your items to the dirty dish bin by the door on your way out.) Because of this, the tables were all dirty from who say they'd before, tables were sticky and no way to wipe them down. The bus station is across the street, and interesting customers and pan handlers coming in and out and walking around the caffe. Not sure it's where I might come back. This place is fantastic. The vibe is very unpretentious, prices are reasonable and the staff is always friendly and helpful. Every coffee drink I've ever ordered here has been delicious and thoughtfully prepared... Same for the hot chocolate drinks my kids enjoy. What really sets Cafe Adagio apart is the small but perfectly executed food menu. Their salads, sandwiches and soup options are all excellent and the baked goods are superb. I think the chocolate chip cookies are the best in town and I just tried a lemon poppyseed muffin that was seriously perfect. In a town that is saturated with coffee shops, many of which are overpriced and taking themselves far too seriously, Adagio is truly a breath of fresh air. read more

I appreciate Adagio! The staff are congenial and they make the best hot cocoa in town and really well-made espresso. It's big, so there's space to work normally, and right now there's lots of room for social distancing. They get their pastries from local bakeries I think (at least the Mt Bakery's insanely good scones!). The soup & salad lunch offerings are quite good, and there's chocolate truffles when you need 'em. I'm not a massive jazz fan, so I wear headphones, but if you like jazz, you'll love the regular live band (post-covid). Note: in my years of going there regularly, I've never had issue with people experiencing homelessness that some Karens in other reviews mention. Adagio treats them like humans from what I've seen, and that just increases my esteem. You could offer to grab the folks coming in a coffee instead of acting like they're a pox on your basic day, yeah? read more

The atmosphere isn't like your typical coffee shop. The place is huge and the brand isn't very cohesive. Nontheless, the employees were very nice and welcoming and my coffee was a delight. It's not the best coffee I've had, but still definitely worth the price I paid for it. Overall, I would probably visit again. read more

This could be mine and my husband's new favorite coffee shop!! The atmosphere is so warm and inviting. The employees are nice. The drinks are DELICIOUS!!!! My husband got a white mocha and I got a chai latte. Both were excellent and they are so reasonably priced. I'm sad that it took us two years of living in Bellingham before we tried this spot, but I am so glad that we did. Also, there is a woman working with the most adorable baby! Caffe Adagio is conveniently located near the bus terminal in Downtown Bellingham. They have excellent coffee if not the best in Bellingham, sandwiches (go for the Turkey Milano!) and pastries. They have a great selection of non dairy milks-THANK YOU for having more than just soy or rice milk! They have a great selection of tea and sweets as well. It is very comfortable, and they have a nice environment where you could stay for a quick cup, or a couple of hours with friends or just getting lost in a good book. read more

I just got asked to leave Cafe Adagio because I had sat down with an outside coffee cup. Bear in mind, I understand the conflict t of interest in whose coffee you drink, but I hadn't even had one minute to order the soup, which I usually do. The woman came and said they had noticed the last time I was in, I only asked for a cup of water. Did they notice ALL the other (about 15) times that I ordered lunch or breakfast or bought Christmas candles? This is a place I frequent and ONCE I visited without actually purchasing anything. I am so upset. I am not someone coming in just to use the bathroom, I am not a vagrant coming in to get warm. I am a human being that hadn't even been sitting for 5 minutes before she swooped over to me to ensure I would pay for something. I didn't realize Adagio was all about the money. I thought in this day and age, you err on the side of kindness. You just never know what someone might be going through. read more

Great little coffee spot! My sister and I thoroughly enjoyed our coffees here and loved the atmosphere. I had driven up from Seattle straight here and after drinking an entire bottle of water on the drive (not recommended) I was in need to... err... ya know. So I ordered my drink, found the restroom and just as soon as I came out from a spacious, bright, clean bathroom, my coffee was ready. Meg (the sister) and I sat down, chatted, looked through the books they have on shelves for you to read or trade in and had a lovely chat. Had an unfortunate first experience here when I ordered two short hot chocolates for my family and wound up making them feed the parking meter outside while I waited for the drinks to be made. I've never waited so long for a drink order in any shop in this area. I can tolerate a wait if the product is good and the staff is upfront about how long it's going to be. However, I was only told about all the "drink orders ahead of [me]" after I had paid and asked for my drinks to go. Truly, if I'd known it would be a nearly twenty-minute wait for two small drinks, I would have turned the other way and walked out of there. read more

I've been to just about every coffee shop in town, and in terms of espresso, you can't beat adaggio. I've compared cappuccinos all around town and Adaggio takes the gold medal hands down! Lots of thick foam, perfect bittersweet crema, always hot, and reasonable price. The ambiance is also great. Leather sofas, clean tables, ample seating, board games, books, and newspapers, and it's always warm inside. Yeah sure the crowd is a bit different from your hipster, goth, comic nerds at Black Drop, but if you standards for espresso then this is your new coffee shop. This is the best places to go if you want to stay away from the Starbucks and Woods chains but don't want to have to deal with the usual Bellingham hipsters found fooling around in most coffee shops around town. More serious, straight coffee here, but in a relaxed environment. Cafe is more on the quite side, good for meetings. Doesn't have a hustly-bustly feel. Pretty simple menu. I was hoping for quiche but since they don't carry it I ordered a cinnamon roll. All I can say is I had to mind my manners and not wolf it down! It's so good!
