How I heard of this place: Friends in Bellingham wanted to try the newest coffee shop after we enjoyed brunch. Having opened its doors only days prior, I was eager to join them for a cuppa java! Type of cuisine: Coffeehouse meets beer taproom in this bright, pastel-colored, vibrant space that is more reminiscent of a children's playroom than a chill-vibe coffee and beer establishment. "Bellingham-based Forecast Coffee as their java provider. A new brand from Tony's Coffee, Forecast "fights climate change" by sourcing coffee from farms using agroforestry. Tea comes from Flying Bird Botanicals and pastries are made by Mount Bakery. The soft opening menu also included breakfast croissants and sourdough grilled sandwiches." Ambiance: "The building has been repainted, landscaping is redone; we built new patios and the walk-in cooler out back, redid the parking lot layout -- everything except new floors," Chad Kuehl said. "We built out the benching along the windows, built out the bar -- it was just a big white room when we got it." When we entered, my first thought, too was that of the owners, "beachy farmhouse" -- combining natural wood elements and bright pops of color for a laid-back yet energetic vibe." What I ordered: A cortado, the perfect, tiny blend of espresso and milk. What I loved: The smooth sweetness of the espresso, and the lightly sweetened warmed milk which went down easily. Why I loved it: It's a family friendly spot, with plenty of seating indoors and out, windows on three sides of the establishment offering beautiful, natural light, and coffee worth the drive (but maybe not the wait). As a work or visiting space, the room can get a bit loud, but I like the hardwood benches for extended sitting. The wifi has been much improved with the last upgrade. The hours are also friendly for evening grad student work. The coffee itself is hit or miss, as is the friendliness of the baristas. read more

Coffee is fine and the pastries are above average. Ambience is nice. However. Sorely understaffed, generally long waits to get served and then to get your coffee. For some reason the drive through seems to get prioritized. The thing that really gets me is the lack of awareness regarding wait times. Rarely any ''Be with you in a moment' or ' sorry for the wait'. This seems like a miss. I suspect this is more institutional than personnel because individually most of the staff are very nice. read more

Roam is new to the neighborhood yet when I arrived it was full of people and it was hopping! I placed my order with one of the friendly staff. The decor is Instagram worthy. #nofilter I like the neon lights because you don't see it as much these days. On my visit I got a London Fog and the California Classic. Maybe not a great pairing but separately they were both delicious. The London Fog was delicious and the foam was the perfect consistency. It was gently sweetened to create a satisfying cup of comfort. The California Classic is a nice balance of tomato, avocado and pepper jack cheese. The only thing that could have made it better is tomato soup. One tip, if you have anything to throw away or a cup or plate you're done with, there a place around the corner where you can do that. It's not obvious (at least to me) but it's just the design of the building. read more

We picked up a mocha and hot chocolate via their drive through after a hike. Super quick with nice baristas and some good coffee!

Cute cafe with lots of seating and bright ambience for either working or getting together with friends. I got a chai latte and R got a cappuccino and they were both decadent. Highly recommend in the Bellingham area, and they even sell beers from Wander Brewing as well! read more

Stopped in mid-morning to check out the new neighborhood coffee cafe. Ordered a London Fog and a drip coffee. They use local Flying Bird Botanical teas which I appreciate as they are a favorite of mine. The drinks were both good but not great. Prices are average. Good selection of Wander Brewing beer and cider too. Nice to have a new business in the former Carne space. Drive up window available if you're on the go. read more

The cafe has free Wifi and would be a comfortable place to have coffee for a chat with friends or to get some work done on your laptop. read more

I was doing errands on my bike in Bellingham and wanted to try out this new coffee shop in Bellingham. It's in the former location of Carne which I've missed. However Roam has done a wonderful job with the property. It looks great and clean inside and has a good amount of seating outside. I like the ambience of this place. All I got was a vanilla latte and it was great. I was pleasantly surprised that they serve organic coffee from the brand Forecast which is apparently from Whistler, B.C. I don't know much about them but the latte I was served was as good as any I have had. I will be back and will check out some of their beer offerings. read more

I have been here a few times now, and their chai and coffee are good, the atmosphere is somewhat bougie, but tolerable, and for the most part, the service is good. The baked goods are somewhat typical, but I'm guessing that's not why people come here. Overall pretty solid but doesn't knock my socks off. read more

The baristas are always nice and friendly, but holy cow are their prices high! My friend's latte last week was over $8! I know coffee prices have been rising in recent years but that seems a bit too high. Plenty of places in town for cheaper coffee. The last time we visited, it was the late afternoon, way after the morning and lunch rushes. The place wasn't very full so it was nicely quiet for working. For some reason, the baristas were suddenly being SO LOUD. I was wearing noise cancelling headphones and could still hear them talking and laughing loudly in the back, and I was in the farthest corner. Listen, I'm so glad they were having fun at work and getting along, but I'm a barista myself so I know how important it is to be quiet in a coffee shop. It was very distracting and I noticed multiple customers looking over at the workers. Not sure I'd return again considering I visit coffeeshops in the afternoon solely for the quiet/focused ambiance so I can be productive. This is also one of the few coffee shops in town that's open late so I really want to like it, but my last visit definitely put a damper on things. read more
